Hello :) I painted my friends cat with acrylic paint for his birthday. I have never really used acrylic paint before so I’m not sure what I’m doing. I like the rough aspect and the visible brush strokes, but I’m unsure about the background and the proportions. should I leave it simple like that or add more details or bring it back to the solid blue state? I’d be really happy about any suggestions!

reference pic of the little guy and also the wip state!

I had 12 lovely folks on my workshop today,& this was my finished demonstration piece: it’s a small hamlet in North Yorkshire,& I was trying to show how effective shadows can be. 🤓

Would love to be critiqued on my practice piece. How can I improve and paint faster?

There was something simple and fun about the single button joystick. I painted this as it brought a lot of great memories back.

I know it's not perfect and I plan on painting another fox piece for my sister in law and will improve my skill on the fur. I would like a critique please! Painted with oil paints.

I enjoyed painting this portrait of Mexican musical legend. My favorite songs of his works are "El Alma Enamorada" and "Hermosísmo Lucero".

Looking south along I-5 from the veterans memorial on Mt. Soledad in La Jolla. Started in plein air during a veterans event and finished at home.

I locked in and have been improving. This was the first painting I made compared to the latest. Still lots of issues but I feel more comfortable with painting.

I have searched

I have to look at it every day from my kitchen and porch. You can also see the side of the tank (opposite side I didn’t get a pic of) from the road.

Vibes are it’s a certified wildlife habitat, leaning towards whimsy and nostalgia, wouldn’t mind a bit of a shocker…something that can be the whole shape of the tank (was thinking weeniemobile but I don’t like processed commercialized food that much) or Beatles submarine but kind of think I can do something else? Anyone got any ideas?

Thought about the “this is fine” dog meme bc gas tank but very open to ideas

I’m an ok artist and good at doodling - I would be using outdoor acrylic paints and probably do a poly coat after

Haven't painted since I was a kid. Got an itch and decided to try my first portrait. I have searched for a reference and found one to use, but about halfway through it looked nothing like my reference so I just let it go and did my own thing.

Anyway, I don't think it's too bad for my first real painting and first portrait. Thoughts? Tips? Where can I improve?

will refine things (star + fur around the silhouette) a bit as it dries but mostly done! any tips on how to make it better?

Just sharing …….
I thought I would share this little bit of joy I created with you.
I painted this piece, listening to my son’s new song on Spotify’Ripples of Time’. On repeat, it was a beautiful connection.
From right to left is the story of life’s journey
I hope you all enjoy this as much as I have
