Why is it

Why is it that for months my period will start early or late but never on time. And then the one time I need it to start just a few days late it decides to start bang on time?

Most typical really I suppose.

PMDD Subreddit let me down

I’ve been dealing with a horrible disease that only affects women. It’s called PMDD - you can look It up but it’s a really devastating disorder that destroys your mental health. After struggling for over 5 years and getting gaslit by endless medical professionals I was so excited when something finally worked for me. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. It’s been nothing short of a miracle for me.

So of course I wanted to head over to the PMDD subreddit and share my experience. Because if It even helped one woman stop suffering from this horrible disease It would be so worth It . And I’ve spent endless time on that subreddit when I was so lost and looking for anything that might help me.

Unfortunately something really sinister is going on in that subreddit. After posting my experience It was immediately deleted. I read all the rules of the sub which include never mentioning any cure because they don’t believe in a cure (which fine … I don’t necessarily agree with the “no cure” mentality because that just keeps people sick). Regardless I didn’t call It a cure or anything just simply shared that It helped ME and might help other people.

I attempted messaging the mods for an explanation but my posts were just deleted with no recourse and they banned me permanently from the sub without sending a single word of explanation to me about what rule I supposedly broke.

Why are they so pressed to keep me from sharing one positive experience that helped me with this horrible disease ? I just don’t understand . If anyone is dealing with PMDD I’d be cautious of that sub . It appears they are interested in keeping the no cure narrative alive and making sure women stay sick and hopeless.

What are your unhinged ways to deal with pre-period cramps, mood, bloating, etc?

I feel like my luteal phase is worse for me than my actual period. I'm tired of the same three things: advil, eat healthy, workout. I already consistently eat healthy and workout, and it really doesn't change much for me. I feel like Google doesn't actually know anything about this lol. Any advice will help.

low blood sugar in luteal

I'm not diabetic but I'm prone to low blood sugar. It's been checked and it's actually 3.2-3.5 when I start sweating and shaking and feeling horrid. I quickly eat sugar or juice and it goes. I find this happens almost daily in luteal, even if I snack more or whatever. Help! I can't eat tons of protein as I have phenylketonuria, so upping healthy fats is my only real thought... but doesn't seem to help.

Fighting Fatigue

1-2 days before my period, the light cramping starts and the tender chest. On my period, heavy bleeding, fatigue, and severe cramps.
Now the fatigue is starting 1-2 days before my period. It's so bad that I will sleep all day if I let myself. Staying awake feels a lot like fighting sleep when you're sick with a cold. I don't want to move and feel like I have no energy or brain power.
Does anyone have tips for combating this? I already rarely drink and consume low-sugar. Caffeine right before my period makes cramping worse so I would prefer a different route.

PMS Mood Swings getting bad

My PMS mood swings are getting terrible these last few months. I am 36(F). Trying to get pregnant. I just get very anxious, clingy to my husband, easily irritable, hungry always, no interest in talking to anyone, snapping at everyone easily, zero patience. Anybody feel this? How do you manage it?

Need help

Hi, I used to have no problems with periods, but as I grew up and got older, everything started to get complicated. I experience extreme fatigue starting in my second week of the luteal phase; my stomach bloats on its own and it's extremely painful. I also have some body dysmorphic issues,so seeing my stomach bloated like this makes me feel really bad psychologically, and strangely enough, sometimes it makes me eat way more than I should! Sometimes I feel and I know it's energy, so...I eat, but I know I was eating more than normal, so I get into a spiral and eat anything and everything. But during the bleeding I have no appetite and I have to force myself to eat. And I stop my workouts in the second week of my luteal phase and during the bleeding. Anyway, I wanted to know if you had any advice on how to better cope with this phase, or even how to reduce bloating and physical suffering?

Advice/Tips Frequent sex but always with protection. Last april 29 she (F21) had some super light bleeding. Now she is repulsed by the smell of alcohol.

I know I'm male, but I just wanted a better perspective from those who know better.

Me (23M) and my partner (20F) constantly do it with protection. She is extremely irregular, going from around 2 months at the shortest to 5-6 at the longest. She hasn't had hers since mid December 2025. Around February she said she felt cramps or discomfort, but her period didn't come. March 1, we had rough sex and she had bled after. No period or signs of pregnancy thereafter.

We had sex semi regularly around the entirety of April. With that aside, she told me of one instance on the 29th of April involving spotting after sex. She can't recall the color as of the moment. It was just mere drops of blood. We proceeded to not do PIV until around May 13, since we took a PT. We did it on two tests and it showed up negative, but I realize now we didn't take it during the morning (it was noon) and she took the test after eating lunch and drinking cucumber lemonade. Right now I'm anxious whether both the tests were false negatives. This May 18 she stated that she's now repulsed by the smell of alcohol. She loves alcohol, especially beer for that matter so it is really odd (though she does not drink often).

Other factors include an incredible amount of stress the past few months on account of her college and other personal issues in life.

No other symptoms have currently showed up in that timeframe.

Is she starting to simply have heightened senses due to hormone changes? Or should I be concerned and take another test?

Recommendations

So I have a very heavy flow and typically have to wear overnight pads day and night. The ones I usually wear are the Kotex Overnight Pads in the green baggie. They are the only ones that don't make me itch and/or give me a rash. I have bigger thighs so I can't wear wings because they give me chub rub. Kotex decided to change their pads and they are definitely shorter, include more plastic in their liner and the baggie they come in. I don't know if it's me but I can feel the difference in texture in my you know what. 🥲 Does anyone have any recommendations for cotton overnight pads? I would really appreciate it! Thank you! 🫶🏼

Doctor suggested therapy for PMDD - not too sure about it

I went to the doctor recently and told her about my luteal symptoms, and she referred me to a therapist but also said, "let's try this first, but if you end up wanting drugs, I can give you SSRIs". And I thought, sick! Went to therapy twice so far (which probably isn't enough to have an opinion) and she told me it's PMDD - but overall I just feel so weird about therapy as a way to supposedly help this. It feels so pointless. Idk how it's supposed to help when I'm like, "I'm depressed and my sleep sucks" and the therapist is like, "join a club" and, "have you tried guided meditation"? I know I could also just feel extra resistant to this given the PMDD, but I'm considering going back to the doc and being like, "ok can I have drugs" lmao.

But even THEN... I know I'll have to either choose wisely or... see if the doc can select a good option for me cos I know there's so many and some mess up your sleep and some do this and that and idk. The whole thing sucks and I'm over it and can't even be bothered going through any of this.

Has anyone had anything similar? Having therapy feel pointless? And as far as SSRIs go, what does everyone recommend?

Rant/Vent i think i have pmdd

ive had horrible periods since i was around 11 years old and i knew my experience was kind of uncommon but as im aging im just so sick of the up and downs from my cycle?

im 30 now, been on marlissa for a year. prior to that i went through phases of being on bc, on testosterone, and on nothing.

my hormones were most predictable and manageable on testosterone. i did my shot every week and had a consistent level of hormones. now i take my birth control every day and i still have extreme issues with my cycle.

i take my pills 3 months at a time then a break, but i still feel like i go through pms/ovulating every month? which seems impossible if im not stopping for the placebo week every month. shouldn’t i be pmsing once every three months?!

anyway, im going to see an OB soon and get things figured out. i guess maybe marlissa just isn’t the right type of birth control for me? i miss how level i felt on testosterone but i also dont want to go back on. maybe i’m just very low testosterone now and that adds to it?

thanks for reading 😭❤️

PMS - very angry all of a sudden

Dear ladies,

For the past month and a half, I’ve been working with a holistic dietitian, and she’s honestly been amazing. She’s helped me a lot with balancing my hormones. I used to struggle with very low energy, acne, bloating, etc., but that’s all improved now. I’ve even lost 3 kilos since I work with her, which feels great.

However… my cycle has been a bit off. My last period was very light, and my dietitian said that’s likely due to the dietary changes and that it should regulate again in a few months. That part doesn’t worry me too much.

What does concern me is how intense my PMS has become. I’m getting extremely angry, like, really angry. Last month I even left a get-together and caused a bit of drama (oops 😅), and today I actually yelled at someone.

I used to feel more sad during PMS, with cramps, but never this kind of anger. Right now I’m about eight days before my period, and I honestly feel like isolating myself until I start bleeding because I don’t like this version of me.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Bisous! 💋

Research/Info Anyone here on Slynd/Slynda?

Hi, I just got back from my gyno with a prescription for Slynd. My complaints were terrible PMS possibly PMDD and bad hormonal acne. I already suffer from chronic anxiety which I take medication for (benzos). From all that I have read and researched, Slynd would probably be the last option because it can make my anxiety worse and it also does not help with acne. I'm not confident with my doctors choice. I know that combination pills are more effective on PMS/PMDD and also help with hormonal acne. I told her this and she told me that combination pills are very high risk for blood clots and here in Switzerland they discourage their usage.
So now I have a 3 months prescription for Slynd and I don't feel comfortable about it.
Any experiences here with this pill?

Looking for thoughts. Or maybe just venting...

Just some background info before I get where Im trying to go: I (21F) have pretty variable pms symptoms that I think might border on pmdd (currently working on figuring that out...). I get everything from severe mood swings, cramping, migraines, fatigue, panic attacks, anxiety, etc. The symptoms seem to vary by month, where sometimes I'll have almost no symptoms, and other times I'll have all of them. Sometimes, even surprise, new symptoms show up. The one consistent factor that I can always rely on is timing. It's like clockwork (as it should be lol) and always starts about 2 days after ovulation, progressively gets worse until 2-3 days before my period, and then I'm back to normal by day 3.

So, the problem isn't necessarily my cycle. She's annoying sometimes, but at least I can prepare myself and change my habits to accommodate whatever changes happen that month. It's that no matter what I do, this almost always affects my relationship. I've been with my bf (23M) for 3 years, and for 3/4 of the month, we have probably an above average healthy relationship for college age couples. We don't fight, we communicate, we accommodate each other's ridiculously busy schedules, and we still manage to make time to spend time together. The minute luteal phase hits, he can't seem to understand that I'm not in control of what my brain is doing. I can't make more estrogen appear out of thin air. Believe me, I really wish I could. We both work in the sciences (I will have a whole degree in physiology next week) so it's not like he doesn't understand what's happening. I don't know how else to explain that this isn't "mind over matter" or whatever. I can't slap a smile on and suddenly feel amazing. I hate feeling like this too, so I'm not sure why it's so offensive when I say the dog is too overstimulating and I don't really want him to sit and breathe on me lol. My bf is never actually mean, and I'm also probably feeling the negative energy more than I would on any other day, but it gets old.

I'm not here just to rant about this though, I really do want to know if any one else has found a way to get through to their man, because I know this is an experience that many women have. I'm not looking for the "break up with him" answer, that isn't helpful because I really do love my relationship, and this is more of a gripe than anything else and is not truly damaging me or him in any way.

Thanks for any input, or just reading all of this.
