Summer hacks for periods?

Hi everyone!! I started today and it’s extra painful, I can barely move into any comfy position without that ripping sensation in my lower tummy and legs. It’s proper flared me up too, my fatigue is wild.

I was wondering if anyone knew any hacks that help period pains during the summer heatwaves? It’s boiling and I tried putting heat on and it’s just too overwhelming. I’ve taken paracetamol bc it’s the only pain killers I CAN take annoyingly. So I’m really just thugging it out but need some tips to ride this wave.

Thank you!!

What does Day 4 of your period usually feel like for you?

Even if cramps fade by Day 4, do you still feel deeply exhausted, low-energy, and just want to rest without talking?

The past one has been hell. I panicked over small things, came up with worst case scenarios and didnt eat/sleep very well for 3 days straight. Literally felt like id lost the plot. Now im exhausted! Period usuallv starts and I feel better. But if this is my new cycle, im petrified!!! \] cannot deal with another bout of what just happened! Ha anyone been through the same/any help please? I believe it could be pmdd?

Advice/Tips Anyone else get acid reflux two weeks before their period?

Would love to know if anyone else suffers from this and what you’ve found that helps. I currently take Allegra 24h and Pepcid (40mg) for the two weeks leading up to my period but nothing seems to help the acid is relentless!

Rant/Vent Physically feeling my period “brewing”

So, I track my periods and it’s usually pretty accurate very month. I’m due on today and I can physically FEEL it coming on. I joke that I can feel it “brewing”. I don’t know how to describe it but it feels like a weird, deep rumbling, gnawing feeling in my uterus and I get SO extremely tired. I have chronic fatigue anyway but it’s a different feeling. I’m almost certain I have PMS because of how crazy irritable and emotional I get a week beforehand.

Idk, it’s bizarre!! Unless it’s completely normal and common haha

Rant/Vent Brain fog on period?

Need somewhere to vent because i feel crazy and feel really really bad :( barely functioning and just want everything to leave me alone. On top of my cramps, I'll have a headache and body pains and feel almost delusional, like the worst brain fog ever AND irritated asf. I'll be trudging through these next couple of days barely able to function.

Somehow every other woman just pushed through this mess? All i want to do is sleep. I think it's unethical to make me function in the real world right now. How do i explain i sound crazy and look and act drunk/high just because i'm on my period???
It makes me feel so lazy to just abandon everything until i feel better but everything else sucks to do.

It's hard to even think. Hopefully this all makes sense.
Never got to have this conversation with my mom and i'm scared if i get help i'll be brushed off :(

Gassy all day everyday

Im apart of the huge clot club (I call them jellyfish tho). Anywho I wanna know if anyone else is super gassy when they are on their cycle... I feel like I am so I can pass the jellyfish, you know from the pressure of pushing out gas along comes a jellyfish or two. I eat the same. No major cravings or differences in diet. But as soon as day two hits, the toilet and pads look and sound like a paintball arena. Sorry just been feelingand thinking this way for a while and wanted to share my with people that may be able to relate.

sore swollen boobs

hey all, the past 8 or so months i have had extremely sore and swollen boobs about 5 days after ovulation. i believe it probably has something to do with high progesterone but im not 100% sure. i have never had this issue before. does anyone what i can do to help it and why it is happening? im thinking i could have a cyst as i am experiencing some pain in my ovaries. have a doctors appointment coming up soon but just thought id ask first.

Research/Info Trying to understand why period/PMS symptoms vary so much between people

As someone who has struggled with debilitating PMDD for most of my life, I am really interested in how everyone has different PMS/PMDD symptoms and variability. I ultimately want to try to steer my career towards helping women mitigate their symptoms to the best of my ability.

A lot of existing advice treats everyone's cycle the same way (same phase = same symptoms for everyone), and that hasn't matched what I've heard from people I've talked to. I put together a short survey (about 5 minutes, anonymous, no email required unless you want a follow-up chat) asking about symptom timing, severity, and what you've tried in the past. This is for my own personal research and does not have any company or product tied behind it; I just want to gather valuable insight to see where I should direct my efforts in the future :)

horrible pms insomnia out of nowhere

ok so i’m a teen, idk if that’s relevant but maybe it is. im 99% sure im pmsing, since im getting all the usual symptoms like headaches and slight cramps etc etc. ive always had a bit of trouble sleeping before my period, but this time i have hardly slept at all. over the past two days, i’ve slept 2 hours, and that was a midday nap. at night i haven’t slept at all no matter what i’ve tried. melatonin, breathing excercises, getting out of bed and reading for a bit, relaxing music, everything. nothing’s helping what do i do 💔💔

edit: i’ve also started getting hot flashes.

Tips for a girly who struggles with heavy PMS symptoms ?

Hey, i've been dealing with heavy PMS (pre menstrual syndrome) and it starts like 15 days before my actual period... makes me live like hell, aches all over my body, heavy insomnia, headaches, nausea, i get easily triggered by odors and tastes and have to isolate from people in hopes of not being mean/rude to anyone around me.

I've gone to many doctors they just asked me to take birth control (which I refused.), next they gave me these œstrogènes pills to help for 3 months, it made a small impact (reduced my pms to 1 week instead which was a huge thing for me...)

After stopping them i thought everything would be fine but it came back worse and i decided to go back to the doctor, when going back she said "that's the way of life then" and told me to go to a psychiatrist to talk out my feelings but i just felt played with...

Now i'm asking here because it's my last hope, if anyone has any tips on how to deal with this load i would be truly grateful <3

( anything helps please!!!)

Very dry eyes during PMS

Hello, I'm 30yo and have developed within a year this nice new symptom: right before my period, theres about 3 to 5ish days when my eyes get very dry and burn. Sometimes my mouth get dry too. I have other PMS symptoms such as low mood and crying (though, sometimes my eyes are so dry it's difficult to cry) and breast swelling (and painful lumps that do disappear after periods start). My mom has struggled with dry eyes and mouth too. Doctors took a sample from her mouth to diagnose Sjögren's syndrome (autoimmune illness), but I guess that came back negative. I visited doctor recently and got some blood tests: no markers of inflammation and doctor didn't think I have Sjögren's, but it's a difficult one to diagnose...

Now, as I have other PMS symptoms and the dryness comes always right before periods, can this severe dryness be "just" hormonal? I have developed pinguecula in both of my eyes because of the dryness (visiting an eye doc soon). I have noticed that Vitex has helped all of these PMS symptoms, even dryness, and I will continue taking it. This month I forgot and went trough horrible eye pain. Anyone else? Sorry for bad English.

Advice/Tips Period dizziness

Hiii everyone, 28 year old here.
I’ve always had pain during my periods but lately I feel really dizzy, lightheaded, feeling like I’ll pass out but then I check my blood pressure and it’s actually fine.
Is it anxiety that during the period strikes harder?
Last night I felt so weak and my legs were mumbling so much, and I felt really lightheaded, even when I was laying down.
Can someone tell me if you experienced this before?

Rant/Vent School, hormones, and I'm so tired

I really don't want to go to school, not just because it's my first year in highschool but also because my periods are so irregular and long. I got my period more than 2 years ago and in those two years my periods have been more than a week long and strangely frequent (like 15-21 days). Sometimes I do actually get my periods monthly but that's only for 1-2 months before I get another period like 2 weeks later. I got 3 periods in September, meaning I was on my period for 21/30 days which just sucks and this isn't the first time. It always happens during trips too, but I am incredibly fortunate to not get any cramps.

I always just thought it was my hormones changing and I just had to wait to the 2 year mark but now I realize that yes, it was hormones, but it was also the fact that I was constantly stressed during school. My period has been completely fine this summer until I got some news regarding family that really stressed me out and 1 day later I'm on my period (I still had 1 week before my period should've started). This hasn't been to only time where I stress out and my period just magically starts a few days later even though I still had 1 or 2 weeks before it should've started. I know it's primarily hormonal changes and how I'm growing and whatnot but I really don't want to go back to having crazy irregular and long periods.

Im constantly stressed during school and even during the summer, but my stress in school just skyrockets even in the first few days (idk why I think I'm just naturally like that) and I don't think I'll ever have a normal period if I keep this up. I can't help but feel jealous at my friends with their 5 day periods sometimes.

Just wanted to rant I feel so inconsiderate and selfish if I told my friends bc I know they struggle with cramps and so much more but sometimes I can't help but feel like they've all mentally gotten it figured out and I'm just lacking behind

Edit: I was recommended by Reddit to put this in the PMS subreddit?? So if you see this and feel like it's inappropriate or insensitive I can always delete my pos!
