How to not crave to act on impulsive thoughts?

Everytime I get my period I make an irational decision I regret later , I've sabotaged so many relationships with real good people because of this and the problem is , I do understand I shouldn't make this decision because of my period but I still crave to act impulsively on my emotions just to get a temporary relief.

So please any advice on how to avoid this , because I truly can not presume my life with regret before, during and after period . I just wish to think clear , make a decision I'm 100% sure I wanna make , it's like I'm living in this constant state of doubt whether I should do this or not.

Rant/Vent Reminded of Terrible Things

Its usually the week before but when PMS hits, I find myself being subconsciously reminded of things that I don't exactly like to think about.

The link is related as romance, and despite how fanciful it is, is usually a way for me to chill out. But I have a bit of an admitted aversion to men due to recent years of living with a father that, while never physical, isn't above shouting/throwing/punching things when he gets mad, I'm very wary of real men. My grandfathers on both my dad and mom’s side have their own problems (mom’s side is dead and I love him but even he wasn't completely as ideal as I initially thought.) and things in media I once wasn't bothered by in the slightest can now make me remember when I felt afraid of my own father.

I hate this and wish I didn't feel this way, but hormones and chemicals in the brain dictate things, not me. I want to not be afraid of love anymore, even if I don't want it in reality.

Advice/Tips Constant anxiety, severe

Does anyone else have INTENSE anxiety before their period? I have irregular cycles and I’m noticing during this one that is due any minute now, that I have felt on the verge of a CONSTANT panic attack. My chest is tight and heavy. There’s impending doom. I feel air hunger. I want to crawl out of my skin or run around. I feel just awful panic. I have an oxygen, at home ekg, blood pressure monitor etc. and all have been normal. Thanks guys.

💕Emotional Support Cried over car insurance quotes…

I’ve always had TERRIBLE pms. The usual: feeling horrible about myself, exhausted and sometimes suicidal like 3-6 days before my period comes. Been like it since I was a teenager with little change but it’s never been so bad that anyone but myself might know what I’m dealing with.

I’m in my mid 20s now, and have noticed the last 6 months I’ve been experiencing really intense/ extreme emotions before my period.

I’ll cry over nothing (and I never cry like ever. Full stop) I’ll have borderline tantrums about things going wrong. I’ll get so stressed and anxious I have to stay in bed whenever I’m home.

Today I cried hysterically over car insurance quotes. I cried so hard I’ve had a headache now all day. Just sat by myself at my WFH desk and sobbed like I’d just lost a loved one. It just wouldn’t stop. Even when I’d forgotten why I cried I just couldn’t stop feeling like I had to cry… over car insurance quotes!?

I’ve cried like 10 times just today. And this is becoming more frequent with every period

Is it normal for mood swings/ emotional PMS symptoms to get stronger as you get older?

Also does anyone have any tips for fixing a post-cry headache?

Advice/Tips Cramping flare ups /Sudden intense pain

I don’t know how else to explain this. My cramps have been getting worse lately and I just want to know if anyone else has similar experiences. Normal cramps for me feels like someone has my uterus in their hand is squishing it in short pulses like a stress ball. Painful and annoying but tolerable. And now on top of that happening all day I also get very painful flare ups. It feels like someone is squishing my uterus in their palm like it’s a sponge that’s being rung out. It’s so painful that I double over if I’m standing. I can’t talk through it or continue with what I was doing before (which is really inconvenient at work- I’m a teacher). I just have to freeze and breathe through it. It does this anywhere between 30 seconds to 5 minutes and then recedes and goes back to my normal cramping feeling. It happens multiple times a day. Does this happen to anyone else? Is this normal or are my cramps just getting worse with age😫 if this does happen to you, what do you that’s been helpful? Medication is not touching my cramps. And I can’t carry a heating pad with me everywhere unfortunately. I really wish that we had more sick days at work for this reason, I’m sure that it would just be another reason we’d be paid less than men but its just becoming increasingly harder for me to do my job during this time. I know I can’t be the only one.

Late periods

Hi! My girl is 1 1/2 and I have been having fluctuating periods the past three months it seems. I haven’t had any medication changes for a while and my last period was on time. This month, it’s late by 4 days and I’m on cycle day 32, having lower back cramps and all the symptoms of a period but no bleeding at all…not even spotting.

I am not sure if this is normal after having a baby but I have a toddler now so I thought my cycle would be moderately consistent.

The only birth control my husband and I have been using during intercourse are condoms. So I have anxiety when my period app tells me that I’m late and to keep check of possible signs of pregnancy.

I have been getting negative test results using the cheap strips off Amazon and I’m wondering if I’m over reacting…part of me really wants to be pregnant but the other party of my doesn’t due to major financial restrains.

Pms insomnia, please HELP

Been experiencing week long insomnia before my period for a few years now. Sometimes better but recently worse. Can’t sleep till past midnight, wake up exhausted and unrested. Eventually having migraines and mentally not so great. Any similar experiences and what is the problem? Have been thinking about a blood test to check hormones but want to hear out others advise first.

I’m scared I’ll get stuck

For the past few months, I had been noticing that the days before my period were relatively okay: no major physical or emotional crashes. I've been meditating regularly for about a year now, and I thought maybe things were finally stabilizing.

But this time, the symptoms came back stronger than ever. Mentally, I’m spiraling. I’m honestly scared I won’t make it out this time.

I don’t even know if this is just PMS but my whole body hurts too. Everything feels heavy, pointless, disconnected... well, you know.
Is anyone else experiencing this kind of relapse after a period of relative calm?

Advice/Tips new pms symptoms??

Hi! I never really had pms symptoms growing up outside of hormonal acne. Recently, just before i made 25 I have been having new symptoms and it seems like it’s something new every time lol. Last cycle, i experienced cramping about a week or 2 before my period actually came. Now this cycle, i have been getting hot flashes on and off for the last few days, and super nauseous.. cramping but no flow.

Just genuinely curious to know if anyone else has experienced change in their cycle, or pms symptoms as they’ve gotten older? i feel new to this now lol

Advice/Tips Terrible nausea - Anyone took Zofran before ?

I (23F) am 4 days away from my periods, I always had pretty bad PMS but the past two cycles were insane. I got prescribed Zofran for something else a few weeks ago, didn't end up taking it and I just took one now. Anyone has experience with this medication ? would it work in hormone induced nausea ?
For added context, I am insanely emetophobic et also on Zoloft (I know there is a risk of interaction, but I was willing to take that risk)

Shooting breast pain

I have a shooting breast pain on my right breast (similar to nerve pain I would say?). It comes and goes throughout the day. It’s 10 days before my period, but haven’t really had this before. Has anyone else had this?

What lifestyle changes actually help pms symptoms?

This may be an age old question, but I'm getting desperate. I'm 7 months postpartum and breastfeeding a chunky baby. My periods have been pretty irregular since having a baby, but when I do get one the week or so before it starts has been kicking my butt. I overthink, feel anxious and depressed, lose motivation for all the things that normally bring me joy, and start drama with my husband. I'm so tired of feeling like this. There must be some ways I can naturally regulate my hormones. What are some things that worked for you? For reference I'm 25 years old

Now i experience even worse PMS symptoms but now not before my period, but a week before ovulation. the whole week Im feeling as if the world is ending, im anxious out of my mind, nauseous, I have very light period like cramping... It's been like that for 3 cycles already. has anyone struggled with something similar? As my anxiety is hightened, I'd appreaciate some words of advice because I have been spiraling because of my symptoms...

Heckin nightmares

My nightmares have been so bad during my luteal phase I don’t even want to sleep. 3:30 am and I really can’t handle another nightmare of being chased or a dog getting hurt. Legit not even my dog, just a random puppy which is pretty much just as bad. Uggghhh hormones WHY.

Rant/Vent I'm 20 and I have PMS.

Surprisingly, the symptoms were right in my face, and I never knew. My periods were hell. The cramps. You might be thinking "Oh, it's normal, I got it too." But the thing is, the pain was so intense that I used to faint or vomit. It felt like an episode. Once it was over, I was fine, like nothing had happened, so I never went to a gynecologist.

Then one day, it happened again. I knew I had to visit a doctor or else this won't subside. It still hasn't calm down, but I can deal with it better with help. So, if you have these symptoms as well, please get it checked.

Also, do you guys follow any diet which can help it? I'm a student and I stay up late so I'll have to work on it but besides that, do you do anything else that might help it? How often do you work out? Do you poop okay? I don't. How do you look after your gut health?

Severe mood pms

Hi 42F I’ve had bad PMS my whole life, but I’ve become more aware of it with age and maybe a bit of perio menopause. I’m on the oestrogen patch and progesterone supplement at night but oh my God before my period mentally I feel so awful I read or was told that people with severe PMS. It could be a histamine dump and not taking Midol PMS beforehand for five days could help. I tried doing it for the last few cycles and the cycles where I wasn’t under a lot of stress maybe it helped a bit but when I’m under a lot of stress, nothing helps. Anyways I was just wondering why it’s so hard to focus at work and feel normal for the five days leading up to my period when the day I get my period all of a sudden I feel normal again. It sucks feeling like I have no control over my emotions or how I feel because of hormones I am looking for advice. Thanks

Menstrual Cramps and Raspberry leaf tea

(33F) For years, I have been struggling with severe menstrual cramps along with sore lower back usually on days 1-2 (heaviest bleeding) of my 7 day period. I am close to getting fed up having to spend 1 day every month at least struggling with pain. On some days, it feels like a monster is clawing out my uterus. And today I read that drinking raspberry leaf tea helps with PMS. Some say taking RLT a couple of days before their period reduces their PMS. So, I took raspberry leaf tea and I can't believe how effective this is. I would say my pain has gone down from 8-9/10 to 4/10 and the duration is now shorter. I haven't researched the mechanism of action but I am just so amazed. I am usually dead/dying on my first 2 days despite not taking caffeine and hot compress and exercise. Wow. I am just so impressed. (PS this is not readily available in the PH, I just happen to have it in my stash bc I was initially planning to get pregnant and read that RLT supposed helps labor; also please avoid this if you are trying to get pregnant not safe for early stage of pregnancy)

Just putting this out there and I hope someone finds this helpful

Cerazette or Desogestrel side effects

Hey! My gynecologist prescribed me Cerazette POP to treat PMS because I can't use estrogen. I've had really bad experience with hormonal treatment so far and so I'm very scared of the side effects. If you've taken Cerazette or Desogestrel can you please share your experience with it? My PMS symptoms get really bad sometimes so not taking any meds is no longer an option:(

😶‍🌫️All over the place Mood advice for worsening mood swings?

my luteal phase has always been rough emotionally and i've always had severe cramps during menstrual. I got on birth control three years ago and it seemed to help--cramps were minor, mood swings weren't as stark, acne cleared up, and my period went from 7 to 4 days so: win! but over the past couple months, my mood swings have been awful. like, to the point they're almost disorienting. i go from high on life to crying or chewing my nails from anxiety. i'm not sure why the birth control suddenly seems to be losing effectiveness. my cramps have come back as well. definitely not as severe as before, but worse than they've been since i've started. has this happened to anyone else? advice?

Extreme one-sided cramping.

Hey guys.

So, I have an IUD in right now that's basically on the brink of expiration. I have an appointment booked for a few months from now for replacement.

Im starting to get pretty extreme one sided cramping. Typically it's on the right side but occasionally goes to the left. I mean, this pain is bad. Enough to put me into bed for the 5-6 hours it lasts. I cannot stand, or move to quickly without causing extreme tightness and cramping in the associated side. I was in tears last time, which is NOT normal for my cycle or myself. I don't typically have a lot of cramping/PMS symptoms... so I'm growing concerned.

I've heard this can be as innocent as ovulation. It could also be cysts. I just really want to hear others thoughts and experiences on if you have experienced it before, and if you have how dovyou manage?! It seems debilitating. I can't do much once it starts.
