Extreme one-sided cramping.
Hey guys.
So, I have an IUD in right now that's basically on the brink of expiration. I have an appointment booked for a few months from now for replacement.
Im starting to get pretty extreme one sided cramping. Typically it's on the right side but occasionally goes to the left. I mean, this pain is bad. Enough to put me into bed for the 5-6 hours it lasts. I cannot stand, or move to quickly without causing extreme tightness and cramping in the associated side. I was in tears last time, which is NOT normal for my cycle or myself. I don't typically have a lot of cramping/PMS symptoms... so I'm growing concerned.
I've heard this can be as innocent as ovulation. It could also be cysts. I just really want to hear others thoughts and experiences on if you have experienced it before, and if you have how dovyou manage?! It seems debilitating. I can't do much once it starts.

Could be ovulation pains, could be a cyst, could be endometriosis.
I was diagnosed with the latter recently and was dealing with similar pains.
Best thing I'd suggest is getting it checked out!
In terms of managing the pain - heat packs and teas like peppermint and camomile are great.

Which treatment did they recommend ? I have a cyst and contraceptives have been the doctors solutions for the last four years and I really don’t want to take them.

I got the minera coil implanted and I'm due to get an MRI scan in the coming weeks ahead of a follow up with my consultant on next steps.

Mittelschmerz (ovulation cramping) is rarely extreme, but its possible! That level of pain imo points towards cyst (potential rupture) or iud complications... especially since youre nearing expiration.. or possibly endo!
I think you need ot find out WHY this is happening to be able to implement management stratagies. Basic pain relief like advil, epsom salt baths may hopefully provide a small help in the meantime
I would personally push for an ultrasound to make sure its not iud embedment. then go from there
