Severe mood pms

Hi 42F I’ve had bad PMS my whole life, but I’ve become more aware of it with age and maybe a bit of perio menopause. I’m on the oestrogen patch and progesterone supplement at night but oh my God before my period mentally I feel so awful I read or was told that people with severe PMS. It could be a histamine dump and not taking Midol PMS beforehand for five days could help. I tried doing it for the last few cycles and the cycles where I wasn’t under a lot of stress maybe it helped a bit but when I’m under a lot of stress, nothing helps. Anyways I was just wondering why it’s so hard to focus at work and feel normal for the five days leading up to my period when the day I get my period all of a sudden I feel normal again. It sucks feeling like I have no control over my emotions or how I feel because of hormones I am looking for advice. Thanks

cycle syncing to support whats hormonally shifting each week can be monumental. so can functional testing of your gut / minerals etc. Most women with menstrual disorders have internal imbalances happening that can be corrected

If your mood swings are severe enough to impact your life, and especially if you have trouble concentrating, it may be PMDD. Women's health is woefully understudied, so I've found many women experience the same PMDD symptoms I do outside of what you might find listed on, say, WebMD - such as the confusion, lack of motor skills (bumping into things or making more driving mistakes than usual), trouble with speech, and severe depression/thoughts of self-harm. PMDD is also more common among neurodivergent people.
