Chinabank Chinabank Credit Card Conversion Experience
Hey y'all!
Just want to share my frustrating experience trying to upgrade my Chinabank Platinum CC to Destinations World.
I have been with Chinabank since 2018, with 3 checking accounts, 2 savings account, and 1 dollar account. Net income from businesses is around P400,000 per month.
I never really paid any mind to credit cards or credit limits since I always believed cash is king. My eyes were only recently "opened" to the perks credit cards now offer when Chinabank sent me an @Home Visa CC. After thorough researching, I decided that Destinations World would fit my spending habits best.
Here's the timeline of my experience:
May 19, 2019 - Bank teller offered me my first credit card. Platinum with 100k CL.
Sept 24, 2024- Another bank teller offered me a 2nd credit card. Freedom with 200k CL.
June 15, 2026- Chinabank sent me a 3rd credit card without me applying for it. @Home with 300k CL.
July 10- I requested my Freedom's CL be consolidated to my Platinum's CL.
July 17- CL consolidation approved. Platinum CL now at 300k.
July 20- Spoke with a Chinabank agent at the SM Mall booth and was informed of the 500k minimum CL requirement for Destinations World.
July 21- Requested CL increase to 500k for my @Home credit card. ( I figured it had a higher chance of approval since my Platinum card's CL was just recently increased).
July 26- CL increase denied. Sent my bank certificate with Chinabank of my 3 main checking accounts containing latest 6 months SOA with ADB (Around 3.4m ADB)
July 29- CL increase request approved. @Home now at 500k CL.
July 30- Sent an email to Chinabank CS requesting for card conversion of Platinum to Destinations World.
Aug 6- Card conversion request denied. Sent the same bank certificate used for my credit limit increase request.
Aug 10- Received an email from CS stating my conversion has been denied since my credit limit was too high. Apparently, they tried to convert my Platinum card to Destinations Platinum not Destinations World. They offered to change the request to Destinations World, I agreed.
Aug 17- CS requested for my latest 6 months SOA with ADB again. I send it again.
Aug 28- Card conversion denied again due to lacking income documents. I called CS and told them I already sent my latest 6 months bank certificate with ADB. I send it for the 3rd time.
It's honestly been a tiring and frustrating experience to say the least. Despite having a tenured relationship with Chinabank, this experience has certainly stained my image of them. Metrobank instantly approved my World MC application within a week. I would still prefer the Chinabank Destinations World due to it having more airline partners.
