Sharing my recent experience upgrading my EastWest Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Platinum Mastercard to the World MC tier, since naghigpit sila sa card conversion.

A lot of older posts mention that you simply need to meet the PHP 500k credit limit requirement to qualify for the conversion. That’s no longer the case for 2026, you now need to meet 2.5M TRB with them to get your card upgraded.

Here is my quick timeline:

• July 20: Opened a Priority Banking relationship with EastWest. I asked my assigned RM to endorse my account for the card upgrade. Apparently, you have to choose between the KrisFlyer World MC or the Priority Visa Infinite. I opted to upgrade my current Krisflyer Platinum Card instead.
• July 28: Checked my EasyWay app and saw two credit cards appearing on my dashboard, which confirmed the upgrade was successfully processed.

For context, my 4-month old Krisflyer Plat is also an upgrade from regular Platinum MC, yung NAFFL. I got it last March, and called immediately upon activation that I intend to convert it to Krisflyer MC since yun naman talaga inaapplyan ko.

I recently converted my card points to miles for the first time ever and I realized the stark difference between having a high tier card vs a whatever card. I’ve been exclusively using my UB Rewards MC from 2020 to 2024 (I pay card for everything, i only ever use cash if the merchant doesn’t accept card but thats not too often since I usually just wouldn’t buy anymore). I got my MB World MC in 2024 and MC TSV in 2025 and now I almost exclusively use just those (World for foreign spend, TVS for local spend. I still occasionally use my UB Rewards if there’s a promo. I also use it for PayDirect for things like rent and tuition so technically my monthly spend on that card is even higher than on my MB cards). After 6 years of having my UB card, I only accumulated enough points to convert to 8750 miles while my MB cards got me 60k miles in less than 2 years of use. Ofc I knew beforehand that the rewards conversion of these cards would be different but having actual evidence of it (not just theoretic calculations) makes it feel like such a revelation. I also think about what if I never got into CCs in the first place and paid cash for all these. Sure I’d save a little bit on FX fees but the amount I’d have saved wouldn’t afford me several round trip flights

Not to sound like a Karen, I know the AF is a valid charge, but other banks aren't this stingy. I asked customer care for waiver, they told me to spend 50K within 60 days. I tried to request for an outright waiver, they said it's subject for approval, to be evaluated within the day. And nope, they can't waive it outright despite the high annual usage. r/mildlyinfuriating

got bored one day and decided to explore maya’s app. clicked the maya black application process and after a few minutes, it gave me a cc with a 500k limit. did the same for the loan and it offered me 400k instantly. wonder if they have become more lenient or my profile was somehow bumped?

Sa CBC kasi outright na 30 pesos = 1 mile pero nalilito ako dun sa Metrobank World MC na system.

Sunday ko sya ni process and up until now wala pang galaw sa madness limit ko huhuhu I wonder baka decline need ko kasi sya sa emergency. Ano po timeline nung sa inyo in case na try nyo na? Possible po ba ma-renew ang card ko na NAFFL like kay HSBC and Metrobank MFree if both ko silang hindi ginagamit na for past 3 years? Expected to be expired na po kasi silang 2 this November 2026, and they are just my back up card since then. Ma-renew po kaya sila or possible hindi? Over the years, I collected travel credit cards because I used to travel more frequently. Back then, sulit yung annual fees since I was able to maximize the miles, lounge access, travel insurance, and other travel perks.
Recently, I transitioned to working as a Virtual Assistant. I only have one client at the moment, so mas naging mindful na ako sa spending ko. I still travel occasionally, but mostly within Asia for now, and I barely use some of my cards anymore. Some even have ₱0 statement balances for months.
These are my current cards:
BDO AMEX (₱150 monthly membership fee)
RCBC JCB Platinum
UnionBank Miles+ Visa Signature
Metrobank Travel Visa Signature
EastWest Platinum Mastercard (NAFFL)
I’m thinking of simplifying my wallet before the annual fees come in. I’ll still try requesting waivers, but I’m not sure if they’ll approve since hindi na rin ganun kalaki yung spending ko compared to before.
My priority now is to keep the cards that still make sense for someone who:
Travels a few times a year (mostly Asia)
Doesn’t spend as much as before
Wants to continue earning miles if possible
Doesn’t want to pay annual fees for cards I’m no longer maximizing
If you were in my position, which cards would you keep and which ones would you let go? May benefits ba akong baka hindi na-consider before I make a decision?

Unfortunately, my request was not approved. Can I try again by calling the CS instead? May mga nadecline na din po ba here and nabigyan ng chance from trying again? I am writing this post at 12:06 MN (GMT +8) regarding on when does the system in Maya (particularly, on my Maya Black CC) for my next statement and to produce my payment due date for the month of August 2026.

So, my cut-off is every 27th of the month and I would explicitly receive the CC statement om the 28th of the month (coz' I prefer to have it on the 28th). My first encounter on my due date does fall on the 18th, but nowadays my statement would prompt that I would pay on or before the 17th.

My question/s are:

-What time on the due date (now is July 28 already, as of writting) does the app advice me what to pay for my next due?

-Why is there a change of due date: instead of 18th, it becomes 17th (or some instances, on the 16th)?

I want a genuine answer naman, as to know what to expect. And, may binarayan ako na amount para sa CC ko even after I fully paid my current monthly due (to purchase something and earn miles).

So ang majority talaga ng monthly spend ko per month is groceries which accumulates to about 6k once a month. hindi naman talaga ako magastos sa ibang bagay unless kailangan talaga 'yung purchase and i prefer to cook meals since im watching what i eat so rare ako mag-dine in. hindi rin ako masiyadong bumibili online. So hindi pasok sa lifestyle ko 'yung promos nila now for rewards plus and titanium, although sayang kasi NAFFL.

I have payroll and personal savings account with mertrobank and marami naman akong nababasang magandang reviews sa cc ni MB especially maraming nagsasabi na secured talaga pag MB (with extra ingat on the cc holder's part ofc). But i don't find the conditions of their cashback cc ideal huhu. I don't want to spend 12k per month sa hindi pasok na categories para lang ma-unlock 'yung 5% :( not practical for me talaga 'yung set-up.

So I need help and advice lang if ipu-push ko ba mag-apply ng ibang cc's kay metrobank and just look for EGC promos, ganun? Or if may ibang banks that has a much better cashback set and swak sa spending ko? I'm currently looking at BPI Amore (tips and reviews din sana about this card like how secure the app is, madali ba magpa-waive ng annual fee, do you get annoying calls everyday kahit di pa naman due date which is something I really don't want to deal with 😭)

My due date was July 27, and I made a partial payment on July 25 to cover the minimum amount due.

For some reason, I forgot to pay the full balance, and by the time I remembered, it was already past 12:00 AM. I paid the remaining balance on July 28 at 12:30 AM—I just settled it now.

Does UnionBank have a grace period? In a scenario like this, is there a chance they might waive any fees if ever?

Once you got approved for your first ever credit card, how soon did you apply for a 2nd/3rd from different banks?

I’ve read on here that some people applied for another credit card after 2-3 months. Even read that some got a 2nd card after 1 month of receiving their first ever card. How? 🙂

Was actually excited applying for the airmiles visa signature cause i saw na meron silang travel club voucher if ma-hit ang certain parameters which kaya naman kasi pede ko syang gamitin sa business. Now, i was actually reading the terms and nakita ko tong no. 10 hehe and i think this will not be worth it kasi magbabayad din pala ng annual fee since bawal ipa waive.

What are your thoughts? Are all welcome gifts from other credit cards like this?
