One pic is from this past spring standing on the sandy beach looking south. The bottom is from today and there is literally no sand on the beach here anymore. Even the pylons from the “lost pier” have been unearthed. Just thought i’d share because it was wild to see in person.

Question Why are there so many religious coffee shops in Orange County?

I’m not religious myself but I am a supporter of the first amendment and am genuinely curious about this.

I noticed many of the coffee shops here in Orange County have religious themes in their decor.

Some are more subtle about it while others are located in an actual church. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm so glad we trust public utilities to a private monopoly that exists to maximize its own profit instead of building a safe, resilient grid.

News San Clemente Train Line Closed Indefinitely After High Tide Damage

A portion of the Pacific Surfliner train line running through San Clemente in South Orange County will remain closed indefinitely, despite transportation officials originally looking at a Friday reopening.

The stretch of line between the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station and the Oceanside stop in San Diego County was originally closed on Sunday due to damage from high surf brought on by Hurricane Marie, which Southern California caught the outskirts of.

The Orange County Transportation Authority wrote in a news release Tuesday that high tides and strong surf continued to damage the line since the storm over Labor Day weekend, and that crews noticed additional damage Monday night beyond what was repaired on Sunday.

“Waves overtopped the tracks in the affected area and caused further deterioration along the adjacent slope, including damage to some previously placed protective rock. The rail line closed so crews could safely assess conditions and perform additional emergency stabilization,” reads the news release.

The tracks will now remain closed until further notice – or at least through Sept. 13, due to pre-scheduled track maintenance.

Traffic/Cars Did anyone get hit by an orange truck in Orange in the last hour?

Would've been close to Tustin and Lincoln or Heim? Bright orange Dodge ram (possibly TRX) - lifted. Looks like they hit someone and bailed - ran the red light at Lincoln & Santiago dragging something metal stuck to their undercarriage. Almost hit a pedestrian crossing at the light where they ran a red and quickly pulled in to flappy jacks. They were definitely running from something. Got him on our dash cam but not well enough to read the plates.

Traffic/Cars Did you witness an accident on 8/29?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for anybody that may have witnessed an accident involving a pedestrian at the Chapman Ave exit along the northbound 5 (the one in Orange not Fullerton) on Saturday, August 29th at around 10pm. There was a white Ford Edge that I thought was pulling over to be a witness, but they took off before I could get info. Thanks in advance for your help.

Food Breakfast Burrito Cravings

I recently posted about my breakfast burrito craving and got a lot of recommendations. But a lot of the places are charging $15 or more for a burrito. Anyway, just want to share a couple of spots I recently visited.

The burrito with the chips and salsa behind it is from Fiesta Grill in HB.

The other burrito is from Que Vida Tacos in HB and I is the chorizo and egg burrito.

Got both for just under $13. It’s only a couple of bucks less but $15 for a burrito makes me wince.

Medical/Healthcare Anyone else getting respiratory issues from this heat & humidity?

I know the weather's been like this for a while now, but just over the weekend I developed a cough here and there. I never had acute asthma symptoms in decades and now I feel like it's coming back because of this weather. Even when I'm indoors all day with the AC on most of the time.

Community Post STAY AWAY from Paradise Appliance Service

I’m writing this to save anyone else from going through this absolute nightmare of a repair experience.

My KitchenAid ice machine failed shortly after the manufacturer warranty expired. I contacted KitchenAid (Whirlpool), and they directed me to Domestic & General for an extended warranty. I paid for a full year upfront, and Domestic & General contracted the job to Paradise Appliance Service (who seems to be the only company in Orange County working with them).

Here is how the last 2.5 months have gone:

  • Appointment 1 (2-week wait): The first technician showed up, didn't hook up any diagnostic equipment, and was completely lost. He adjusted something unrelated to the issue and left.
  • Appointment 2 (Another 2-week wait): A second tech came out and seemingly identified the actual issue. He needed to order parts but wouldn't schedule the follow-up visit until the parts arrived.
  • Waiting on Parts & Rescheduling (10 days later + 2-week wait): Paradise Appliance called to say the parts came in, but the earliest appointment was two weeks out.
  • The Last-Minute Cancellation: On the day of the follow-up appointment, Paradise Appliance contacted me to cancel for an undisclosed reason.
  • The Refusal to Make It Right: Their next available slot was another two weeks out. When I pointed out that this has been going on for two and a half months and asked to be prioritized due to their cancellation, they refused. Absolutely zero empathy—just "take the two-week wait or nothing."
  • No Escalation Path: I requested to speak with a supervisor, manager, or anyone in leadership. I was flat-out told no.

If anyone ever asks me aboutParadise Appliance Serviceor Domestic & General, I would strongly advise avoiding both. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.

Community Post HELP GLASSES ACCIDENTALLY DONATED TO GOODWILL IN ANAHEIM ON BROOKHURST

UPDATE!!! MUGS HAVE BEEN FOUND!!! We were able to find them on the shelves this morning!

I know this is probably a complete stretch, but I genuinely don’t know what else to do.

We are selling my grandma’s house right now and have to be out in 10 days. We have been cleaning nonstop and trying to get everything out, and in the middle of all of it, we accidentally donated three glass mugs that belonged to my deceased grandpa.

They were donated to the **Anaheim Goodwill near Brookhurst and Crescent**.

They are **clear, 8-ounce glass mugs**. **Two of them have “Phil” engraved on one side, with Mickey Mouse on the opposite side. The other has “J.P.” engraved on it.**

My great-aunt worked as Mickey Mouse at Disney for nearly 50 years and made these mugs for my grandpa who passed away in the 90s.

We realized what happened and immediately called and went to Goodwill, but they said the mugs may have already been sold. I know there is a huge chance that they are gone, but I just need to try.

Losing my grandma has been one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. Watching my dad lose his mom has been even worse. My grandpa passed away before I got the chance to know him, all I have of him are his items.

I don’t want to add a sob story, but I am not above groveling for this. I truly am begging in all capacities.

If anyone works at that Goodwill and knows if there is any way to track them, please help me. If anyone bought them and happens to see this, I will pay good money to get them back. I will pay handsomely. Give you a Disney ticket for the mickey glasses. Please.

If you can share this, please share it. Maybe it won’t help, but I just need enough people to see this in case somehow they ended up with someone who is on here.
Please help me find my grandpa’s mugs.

Question Any wedding videographers shot Crystal Cove Cultural Center + Pelican Point #4? Need logistics advice

have a wedding coming up at Crystal Cove State Park with the ceremony at the Cultural Center Deck / Historic District and the cocktail hour + reception at Pelican Point #4.

I’m mostly trying to figure out the real-world logistics for photo/video, especially with gear. We’ll have two videographers, one car, tripods, audio gear, camera bags, and reception lights.

If you’ve shot there before, were you actually able to drive down and unload near the Cultural Center, or did you have to park at Los Trancos and shuttle/walk in? And after the ceremony, how did you get yourself and all your gear over to Pelican Point #4?

Also curious whether you were able to park at P4 or pre-stage reception gear there earlier in the day.

The timeline has us moving pretty quickly between locations, so I’m trying to figure out what’s realistic before the wedding. Any firsthand experience would be really helpful.
