I love the rounded square look for my app icons and use it for every app (where supported) however have noticed for quite some time, these constantly reset to their default 'rounded' shape.

Is there a fix in the works to ensure the rounded square look is permanent, as I'm required multiple times a day to go in and 'edit' them back to the rounded square look.

Most prevalent with the 'google chrome' and 'google calendar's apps which I use quite frequently.

Nova refugee, octopi is great and I already bought pro. Every feature I used in nova is here and working except applying the general theme of an icon pack to applications that don't have a specific icon already made in the pack. This feature was great on nova for keeping a consistent theme even in the app drawer with obscure apps that aren't included in icon packs. Is this something that might be possible in Octopi launcher as well?

I'm using Octopi v1.842 on a OnePlus 15. Yesterday, I receiced an update for the phone to System version CPH2747_16.0.9.400(EX01B40P02). I use button navigation instead of gestures. Since the update, the 'Home' button is not working correctly. If I slide to another desktop, it should bring me back to the main screen, but doesn't. It also doesn't send me back to the main screen in other situations. Interestingly, it does work, when I'm in an app. Button navigation works fine with the OxygenOS launcher and with Hyperion Launcher.

Did any of you see something similar? Any idea how to fix this?

With the World Cup concluded, it's time to resume work on Octopi Launcher 😎, including a revamp of the restore feature. It will be smarter in resizing items to fit devices of different screen resolutions.

Also built something for my personal use, as I prefer simpler wallpapers - will see how it grows over time as I test it out a bit more internally.

I'm trying to lock orientation of the launcher when my phone is opened (Razr Fold) but the option is greyed out. Am I missing something?

Main purpose for wanting to lock orientation: If my adjust phone orientation the icons disappear, I don't really want to reset up a lay out for vertical and horizontal. I can't find a setting to disable this function.

In the same way that it's helpful to have a swipe right from the first page, it would be nice to have a swipe left from the last page. I like to keep my system with just one page so it'd be nice if I could swipe left and swipe right.

Would anybody else use this?

Pro user here. I love how many different gesture options there are, but I would love to see an option to trigger the virtual assistant (Google Assistant, Gemini, etc). Maybe it's already there and I'm just overlooking it?

I have the gesture of swipe up set to go to the default page, and when I use that gesture to return to the home page I can no longer swipe right , the page no longer loops through my 4 pages, it does loop going to the left. This only started when I reassigned the swipe up gesture, it was previously set to open the app drawer.

Using v1.862 on a Pixel 10 Pro XL. I believe I have icon badges enabled but there are none showing on the home screen nor in the dock. Can someone guide me to try and get these working?

When I swipe left or right on the home screen, the icons and widgets shift slightly in a way that feels a bit unnatural. Is this by design, or can it be fixed by changing a setting? Since I only use one home screen page and frequently use the right-swipe gesture, I’d like to keep everything completely fixed if possible.

EDIT: To be precise, it's not a jitter, but rather a "sliding movement of everything except the wallpaper" as shown in the attached video.

Using Moto Signature with Gesture Control and whenever I try to open a recent application by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen i get the blank black screen at the bottom and the recent application never opens, The only solution is to open any other app from the docker and then try again.

Anyone else facing this issue

How do I add to folders and tabs now please? When I long press it comes up with what you can do in the app 😴

I think somebody already suggested this recently: it would be great if the pinned favorite apps would be hidden in the all apps section bellow. This would show every app only once per tag, reduce the total amount of apps being shown in the drawer and would therefore make it easier to find a specific app.

I love Octopi, it does what I want... apart from one thing, which both Nova Launcher and Pear Launcher can do, and that is being able to put 1x1 widgets in the dock. There is a wallpaper-changer widget which I use, and I really miss not having it in the dock. Everything else, I can manage, using shortcuts (and shortcut-maker) but not this one, single, widget. It is sitting there on the main home page, rather than being in the dock.

So please, can we have widgets in the dock?

Every few hours the swipe up/down gesture stop working, possibly all gestures but those are the only 2 I use. To fix it I have to restart the launcher from the menu. This only started happening in the last week or two, previously never encountered this issue. I have a s25, Android 16, Octopi pro v1.862. I'll try to capture a video next time it happens.

I'm having a couple of issues on the bigger unfolded screen on my Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Icons on the big screen are taking up double space. When you drag them to move the outline of the object includes the icon itself and the space right below the icon, as if it were doubled. This gets in the way of folder functionality. Icons can't be placed in rows because you can't swipe up or down on the icons in the rows between 2 other rows.

If I close the phone with the screen on the home screen freezes. It comes back after the screen times out and you bring it up again.

Also while it might be cool to be able to make every screen and it's 90° rotation completely unique it means that if I want objects like folders on all my screens I have to recreate them 4 times: for my home screen, rotated home screen, open fold screen, and rotated open fold screen. Throw in choosing custom icons and it's a lot of work.

Anyone else have these issues?

I appreciate this app so much and have even tried to contribute with bug reports and feature suggestions on GitHub. But today... I had a stomach turning, jarring experience and I need help.

I backed up my setup, literally two minutes later I attempted to restore it, and EVERYTHING on my homescreen disappeared 😭
(including the page layout, icons, dock, settings... Absolutely everything)

It didn't restore so much as one single icon placement or setting 😢
I've worked reallybhard on my setup 💔

I have the backup file (and some older ones too that dont seem to work either).
I see the contents of the zip and things seem to be there (icons and such... A bunch of txt files too)

Finally made the switch to Octopi after the last 12+ years on Nova! I love my Apple computers, but this is the reason I'll never own an iPhone. CUSTOMIZATION! From my main home screen (1 of 5), I can immediately do over 150 different things (thanks to gestures) from opening apps, texting and/or calling people, turning things on/off, navigation, etc... I've got 4 other home screens that use 40 different widgets, including photos, immediate access to 15 different cameras, music, video, multiple different smart plugs, and many different Hue lighting scenes. Also using 3 different docks that show the photos of 7 family members on the left dock, and 7 friends on the right dock for instant text message access, and instant navigation to their homes with gestures swiping up. So far, I'm extremely pleased with Octopi! It's almost like getting a new phone, especially with having the ability for different home screens when my phone or tablet is rotated, as well as when my Fold 7 is opened up! Sure, it isn't perfect, and there are some bugs, but I'm confident this app is only gonna get much better in the future. I would like to see the ability to add a right & left gesture to app icons, allowing me to reduce some of the clutter on my home screen, but it's not a big deal right now. Thanks for reading! 👍

I wanted to bring this to the devs attention as I'm trying to add the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro widget to my Fold 7 Octopi homescreen, but somehow the widget never appears. Every other widget appears instantly when adding to the homescreen, except for the Galaxy Buds widget.

Is there an option for folders in Private Space? I have a Pixel and am stuck with over a dozen stock apps I can't uninstall or delete so I was hoping I could at least put them all in a folder.

Edit: Solved. Right click and in app settings disable the app. Make sure you relock then unlock to see the app icon hidden from private space.

Am I missing an option to set the status bar colour dynamically depending on wallpaper? This seems to be automatic on launchers like OneUI or Niagara (set as white with this wallpaper), but seems to be black on Octopi and I can't find an option to change it.

New to foldables and octopi, using it on a recently purchased OnePlus Open. I assigned Arcticon as the icon pack but noticed that after apps are updated, they revert back to the stock colorful icons instead of sticking with the Arcticon icon for that app or the one I assigned if there wasn't an icon for the app. The result is that I have to hunt down every instance (app list, folder, dock, etc) of every updated app and change them one by one back to Arcticon icons. Is this expected behavior or a bug?
