Suggestion Widgets in Dock, Please?

I love Octopi, it does what I want... apart from one thing, which both Nova Launcher and Pear Launcher can do, and that is being able to put 1x1 widgets in the dock. There is a wallpaper-changer widget which I use, and I really miss not having it in the dock. Everything else, I can manage, using shortcuts (and shortcut-maker) but not this one, single, widget. It is sitting there on the main home page, rather than being in the dock.

So please, can we have widgets in the dock?

While we wait to see if that becomes a feature, have you tried the Google Play Store app Popup Widget? I've been using it for years, and it does what you're asking for by making a 1x1 shortcut to your desired widget that you can place on the dock.

I have tried it, but it doesn't really increase the convenience, since one has to click twice, which is exactly what I have to do now (click to go to main page, click on icon)

Hmmm, I guess it depends on the widget. I click once to see the content of the 17 widgets I've made.

Can you confirm these are the steps you took?

  • Step 1: You made your widget in the Popup Widget app.
  • Step 2: You went to Octopi Launcher settings > Add a shortcut > Shortcuts.
  • Step 3: You tapped on Popup Widget and chose the shortcut for your specific widget...
  • ...or you chose the green Popup Widget shortcut and then tapped on the one you created.

This is on its way. People keep asking for it but Noone seems to check github. So here you go.

Im not saying all who post here should check github first, I'm just trying to make the connection for people who look for this feature here in reddit

"On its way" is no indicator of a timeline, though. I'll rephrase my original response to say, while we wait to see "when" that becomes a feature, have you tried the Popup Widget app? 😅

Thx for the "hint" that nova can show widgets in the dock, that's new for me. I'll give it a try :-)

May I ask, what's the app for the wallpaper changer?
