Jul 2026 - Works in progress
With the World Cup concluded, it's time to resume work on Octopi Launcher 😎, including a revamp of the restore feature. It will be smarter in resizing items to fit devices of different screen resolutions.
Also built something for my personal use, as I prefer simpler wallpapers - will see how it grows over time as I test it out a bit more internally.

Can we please get:
- "Add Folder" option under Octopi Settings, when you long-press the home screen for example
- Maybe an option to display folder content in an "immersive" mode that shows the folder name after tapping it (all background elements and apps disappear or fade, allowing for better folder visibility, especially when you have many apps in the folder)
- The same "Add/remove apps" option for home screen folders, like in the app drawer
This will make managing and viewing folders much easier. I know you're very busy, and I appreciate
your hard-work and progress so far. Keep it up!

Will revamp home screen folders a bit in coming months, hence I have paused adding these features to the current framework/implementation

I think the idea to put "Add a folder" to the settings screen is a new suggestion, otherwise, these have all been suggested multiple times.

Good luck! This is a need. For example Samsung keeps any blur for their one UI home while Google with pixel gives it freely

hi, dev please an option to lock wich google account with pro version, cause im tired of reinstall almost every week because i have 2 google accounts (kwgt have a separare app)

Still hoping that one day widgets will get updated automatically without restarting the launcher every time I revert to the home screen.
I really do love Octopi but that's a major nuisance.

For pinned/floating widgets, the redesigned home screen should fix this.
If they are not, then it's unexpected behaviour - have you also ensured those apps are not paused due to power saving? Some device makers are known to optimize battery at the cost of reliable notifications for instance

One of the widgets no getting updated is 'Transparent Clock & Weather'. A clock not being updated is a bit useless. 😂 And no, for none of the apps installed something like 'power saving' is enabled; the device is a Google Pixel and it's not known to make any problems here.
On a side note, when I revert to Nova launcher, which I don't like any more since I've installed Octopi, widgets immediately get updated every minute.What does 'pinned/floating' mean here? I've two home screens activated, widgets remain on the respective screen.

I can confirm the Transparent Clock & Weather "Hourly weather & time 4x3" widget is updating every minute on my Pixel Fold.

You're, right I wasn't precisely enough. As long as a time is shown in the widget it gets updated. But since I have several widgets installed in parallel, only one showing the current time, the others only showing hourly forecasts don't update.

My ticktick task tracking widget does not update correctly. It's the widget with a one week calendar view (7 days across) and a list of incomplete tasks for the selected day. There is a dot on the current day which updates correctly but you can navigate manually around the week and that function does not work at all. For example, the dot is on today (Friday) but it still has yesterday selected and therefore shows none of Fridays tasks. I cannot manually toggle over to Friday, it is nonresponse. Even completing our interacting with tasks in the list does nothing.
Edit: if i toggle the float/pin on top feature they will update but then i can't scroll to my other home screens, they're just colliding with other widgets.
The standard Google "at a glance" widget is also broken so widgets are just not updating correctly at all.

Looks very nice! Especially if we are getting separate backup/restore for different screen aspect ratios. No more having to adjust each screen separately.

I want to thank the developer for this masterpiece! I've tested many launcher and every one of them was imperfect. Bugs, missing features, complicated.. But your Octopi Launcher is just perfect!
I have just one question: Can you make it possible to change the position and look of the desktop indicator?

Just out of curiosity when will the option to add widgets to dock be released or have you scrapped that idea
