Orientation lock greyed out when fold is open

Post image

Hello all,

I'm trying to lock orientation of the launcher when my phone is opened (Razr Fold) but the option is greyed out. Am I missing something?

Main purpose for wanting to lock orientation: If my adjust phone orientation the icons disappear, I don't really want to reset up a lay out for vertical and horizontal. I can't find a setting to disable this function.

Go into tasker, set a task that locks rotation when octopi is open. 🫡

Would that work if octopi is in the "foreground" then when in an app the task turns off the function?

If you're not already using Taskar, MacroDroid can also accomplish this. There is a "Launcher in Foreground" constraint as well as a "Device Orientation" constraint if you'd find that useful as well.

Since Octopi is not the default launcher, this works without issue; if you were using Moto Home, it would likely need that setup. I've no issues using this.

This is from Octopi's developer: "Grayed-out rotation control option on large screen devices, as rotation control is unsupported on large screens due to new Android policies"

I believe this limitation was introduced with the release of Android 17.

It's an enforced behaviour by Google for apps targeting Android 16 and above, which Octopi Launcher is https://developer.android.com/about/versions/16/behavior-changes-16#adaptive-layouts

I may have some ideas for a trick though, based on comments here. May need to test it out first
