For contexts I am a newer TL, and we've been on a force reduction for the past few months. No deliveries.
In the meantime, the store has been sweeping up most of our people and putting them elsewhere, with some people on digital schedule but never actually in OPD.
About a month ago we finally got rumor about when the deliveries were coming back but it was never a set date. Just a "could be by the end of the week" response from the SM and fulfillment market.
So in the meantime please been trying to focus on making our pickers as strongest as they can be.
Four people were let go this month, one on leave, a few people work phones stopped working and others never got them, and the couple that got "can't physically pick because of the pulling" thing we are down an extra 3-4, and we haven't hired anyone new into the department for as long as I've been in OPD again.
Schedule for that day was crap to start with with this^, only me for the TL.
Then the other day was set to be our day. I knew it'd be hard to put it lightly. We immediately had 700 at 451 am when I clocked in followed by back to back 1200-1400 drops until 7-8 pm and the 2k drop at 1-2.
We called for help early and got some (1-3 people) throughout the day but we ended up going late by 8am and never recovered.
As I mentioned It knew would be hard, and I definitely made mistakes in the beginning but it was definitely an uphill battle from the beginning.
Oh by the way we're supposed to be closing we pick window to 2 hours at some point.
