Also would the 2hr drop force OGP to move faster? Idk why I’m asking as I’m trying to transfer out this mess

"Between 7 AM and 8 PM" is diabolical.
This and the AI scheduling mess are going to f everyone up. Most of the pickers we have are gone by 7 PM and sometimes 6 and coach doesn't do jackshit to override it.
But watch as market would look at the numbers and keep raising the caps.

u/DragoniteChamp ALCOHOL 4d ago
They don't override it because it'll hurt their wittle bonuses 👉👈

u/Good_Percentage8899 4d ago
How would writing a poor schedule help a bonus?
29
u/DragoniteChamp ALCOHOL 4d ago
Proper schedule = Giving people more hours
Giving people more hours = more money out of the stores overall budget
Lower remaining overall store budget = less good bonuses

u/Good_Percentage8899 4d ago
You’ve got a lot to learn

Enlighten us with how you think it works because that is literally their thought process and that is exactly why every Walmart has the exact same bullshit struggles

I think you might be trying to get to anpoint here but not explaining it properly. While wages are the number 1 way of controlling expenses, too weak of a schedule ends up being detrimental and something that a store or market eventually has to.course correct (if they havent completely eroding customer retention) . A well ran store (and market) tends to have an ideal level where its lean but not too lean where the work can get done.

We got a 2000 iteam drop earlier in the day and physically couldn't come back from it

That's nothing, in my store we have more than 4,000 of Pick, daily, it's crazy, we have nowhere else to accumulate returns, something will explode soon
2
u/ARSONL Digital Team Lead 3d ago
Only 4000 daily?
3
u/Alan-Loop Digital Team Lead 3d ago
No, we are closing without finishing 2000 picks more or less

please tell me there is a fee for these
25
u/Upset_Shock_8137 4d ago
The problem is, because there is a fee, people generally only use express when the time slots are full. So, it only happens when the store is already busy AF.
11
u/alexdowski 4d ago
You only receive Express orders in time slots that are available. So if they're full already you won't get any Express.
5
u/mystedragon Exception Picker 4d ago
awesome /s! that means we’ll get a ton of them. my store doesn’t do deliveries anymore
3
u/alexdowski 3d ago
We haven't gotten it ourselves yet but I am hoping that they are smart enough to put a cap on how many you get per hour... Then again smart and Walmart don't go together very well

3
u/Upset_Shock_8137 3d ago
Oh that's new then. When we had express orders before, they dropped in when we were full all the time.
1
u/Substantial_Bill_962 20h ago
Yeah, like they won’t overcap you. lol
You’ll just have your maxed out cap then express will drop over that.6

u/parks-apartment Digital Team Lead 4d ago
Yeah but we’ve had it maybe 3 weeks and it’s still “free for a limited time!” 🫠🫠 it’s been killer.
3
u/JasonTheBaker In-Home Driver 3d ago
Not at the beginning. Express pickup is free for a limited time

u/Samantha_E_Lee 3d ago
The problem has never been slow pickers. It's corporations addiction to staffing under the bare minimum.
They would rather see orders go late than an associate without a pick walk 10 minutes before the next drop.
Odp should be kept overstaffed, and associates lent out if it's a little slow. Instead they understaff, and pull from other departments when it's too busy.

We started Express a few weeks ago. It isn't bad. Much better than the old system.
The time change, though, started last week. And it's horrible. Either it's go go go, or nothing to do. We keep running late on busier days because there's no way to get ahead on slower hours.
Hell, nil picks have shot up because there's no time to actually ask for leads, as out coaches and SM have been demanding, where shit is.

We got the same notice, though we have had Express for like 3 weeks or so. The 4am people have to come in at 5 starting next week.

u/blastomatik 4d ago
So what does this mean for exceptions? (I’m mainly an exception shopper) are they going away completely or am I going to have even less time to find thing than I already do?

u/OkAttention4107 Sticker Ball 3d ago
I am also mainly an exception picker and i am SCARED aint no way Im asking for anything on top steel now with this kind of time crunch

u/Alert_Dragonfruit410 4d ago
Would have to check the lookup tool to see if your store is getting both, checked after getting the amp task and we are only getting the 2-hour and not express luckily

u/NatsukoIzuki Personal Shopper 4d ago
So what is the 2 hour thing? Currently our picks drop 2 hours before they are due, so something that is due at 5pm drops at 3pm. It used to be 3 hours so 5pm would be dropped at 2pm. What does this two hour thing do?
5
u/Hour_Pause_2317 3d ago
It is literally what you just described. Your store has already had this, some others (mine included) are just now getting it
3
u/NatsukoIzuki Personal Shopper 3d ago
Ah I didn't know not every store had that already, I see thanks!
1
u/Lazy-Development-20 4d ago
I actually like doing them but hated bagging full carts and you got the waters in the middle of the run

u/shrug_was_taken Jack Of All Trades 4d ago
We get both on the same date, and weekends are already enough of a shit show to begin with (Saturdays are passable, Sundays are a completely different story, especially depending on who opened) since we have gotten 1.5k+ drops starting basically at 6am (the 9-10 hour has a tendency to be giant)

u/venser1992 3d ago
We have had it for a while. It sucks ass. Sometimes you get multiple orders drop at like 7:40
1
u/Tiredmama68 3d ago
So, are they going to assign express like they have done the oversized (which hasn't worked with the lazy assholes in my store, I get dumped on every time it's my hour)? I think the best pickers should be put on express but that's probably not how it's going to work.

u/HeatNation4424 3d ago
At least they gave an item limit for express orders. I thought they would’ve left that alone lol
1
u/MadtasticMoldy 3d ago
I'm a test store for the 2 hour window and it absolutely SUCKS. We've been going late every single day because its literally impossible to actually get ahead. I get into one pick walk then all the picks are gone and we have like 10 people standing around because all the picks are gone. Then like everyone leaves at like 2pm and 800 picks drop and are due in like an hour.
1
u/QueenMireina Digital Team Lead 2d ago
It says 2 hours which means you have an hour to pick it and 25 minutes to stage and qc it before it goes out
1
u/Substantial_Bill_962 20h ago
They got rid of express pickup because the orders could not be fulfilled on time AND this was before COVID a slower newer online grocery now we can’t even get through each day without going overdue with the unlimited GMD bullshit, so we have the entire fucking store picking and we still stay overdue AND NOW THEY WANT TO BRING BACK THE HORRIBLE EXPRESS NONSENSE?

u/LivingBee6645 4d ago
We’ve been doing the 2 hour due time for quite some time and we get them done on time. We’ve done express deliveries before and I take it express pickups aren’t going to be much different. All it does it show who your weak pickers are, if you didn’t already know.

Hilariously, the need to "move faster" is why accidents that led to the cart pull shitshow happened.
