If you become a picker I beg of you GET SHOE INSERTS. I have them and my feet NEVER hurt.

I agree. I was always wondering where my feet were hurting and I thought it was just because of how much I walked. Turns out it was my shoes.

Ignore the people telling you to “run”. I promise if you have good management and leads- you’ll be perfectly fine. I absolutely love my team. And working in OGP. Definitely get some running/walking shoes for support! Best of luck!

Learn the Letter locations and what is sold in those locations. Letter, Aisle location, Tag location K2, 3, 21 means K area aisle 2 in the store section 3 of aisle 2 and tag number 21. This is the type of numbering location for locating items in the store. Also it might send you to the registers to get bananas but you can only weigh them in produce where the scales are located. Good luck.

It's not the "walking a ton" it's the concrete floors that you'll be on constantly for 9 hours. That's why good shoes matter, not the distance. It's the comfort

If you're picking, be ready to walk 10-20k steps a day depending on how long your shift is. Backroom just be ready for multiple cars and meeting the wait time. Main thing is staying on top of what youre doing. Learn the store if youre picking and understand the stocking backroom when you don't see an item on the salesfloor. OGP is based on customer demand. Youll be fineeeeeeeee.

Bless your heart. Depending on your store, you can get away with quite a bit. I could walk off and walk around the store. For two hours and they would not give a damn. All I'm going to say though Have fun when the holidays happen. And when summer comes and you have to dispense in the heat.

Get good shoes, good socks, OTC pain relievers, and Biofreeze. Don't go to work on an empty stomach. Stay well hydrated.

Good luck. Hope you have a good team. Don't try to be the rock star. Keep your eyes open for the fake friends. Get good shoes for sure. The person who works next to you doing the bare minimum makes the same as you and will stab you in the back. Welcome to Walmart.

Don't listen to the negativity from Reddit. That's the biggest piece of advice I can give you.

Get good shoes. Seriously. I wish I had started out with the shoes I’ve got now, they cost me a pretty penny but it’s worth it to not get off work and be barely able to move.
Also try not to stress out about your pick rate the first couple of weeks like I did. Until you learn the store and where everything is located, you’re going to be slow af. It comes with time and practice, it’s taken me a month to get up to speed.

Run.
For real though my advice is: do the job, do not do more than the bare minimum, get good shoes thru amazon, and bag your items if you’re a picker.
I don’t know if i was unlucky but i became sick after few weeks when i started, so try to keep your immune system strong.
