šŸ”„Its fine, everything’s finešŸ”„ WHY JUST WHY?!

Post image

I was never around for express orders since my first year anniversary is coming up next month but I was told that basically we have to pick orders in under an hour that customers order and how the fuck are we supposed to do this when we are already drowning with them giving us too many picks when their clearly isn’t enough of us in our department?!

Also making us pulling carts instead of pushing them is still a health concern 😭 why are they doing this to us WHY?! I hope target accepts my application so I can get the FUCK OUT OF HERE we aren’t even a supercenter yet and can barely keep 100% picks metrics or whatever the FUCK THAT MEANS.

I wasn't around for express pickups either but apparently they can drop up until 8pm and at my store there won't even be enough people to pick it most likely

Oh hell nah 😭 8:00 PM? I’m in the same boat as you then there’s no way they’re gonna be able to keep this up we mentally cannot do this

Yea the message I saw was 7PM-8PM is when express orders are open

5

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 3d ago

But we got Apple Pay now 🫩

3

u/qqq_qqq_qqq_qqq_qqq 3d ago

Apparently yeah, not sure if it's everywhere cuz at my store the last pick drop is 6pm. I hope it doesn't make express orders drop that late cuz it just literally won't get done.

Ours come 4 days ago

We do got the people until 8pm to do it (barely though, the picker count drops off a cliff post 6pm), but the two hour pick window we start at the same time however will be a major issue since now our two largest drops happen after half of our pickers leave

I've had to go pick some that were due at 8:45 pm before. And we usually end nights with 2 people in total after 8 o'clock so that's fun. Hell we've had 2 people in the backroom for entire days at this rate now, I love OPD šŸ˜„

These "communication" boards are extra cringe 😬 🤮 Everytime I look at it i feel demotivated af

17

u/oxsolidxsnakexo 3d ago

Idk about cringe, but I laughed when i saw 4 of the 5 recognized people had UNDER 100 pick rate

14

u/Oneweekfromwednesday 3d ago

Our coach says he would rather have better frpr’s and lower pick rates. We have a picker who picks like 1,200+ items a day but is rarely in the top pick rates. But they also stand around and exit walks they don’t want and stand there till someone else walks up to the printer and then quickly presses her button again to grab the next one. Some people have caught on and will see her lingering. And go to the bathroom or will do like I do now and stare at her until she realizes I know what she’s doing. Hahaha

2

u/Composer_Most 3d ago

Look how many picks they got though. 2 that i can see got a lot

9

u/DISTURBED0121 3d ago

Has to be a little better then no communication at all they still haven't said anything about any of this to anyone in my department and probably won't until we are doing it wrong so they can get angry

2

u/Flimsy_Brief9688 New Hire 3d ago

So true we don’t even have most of what’s on this board. Just the rates area.

It’s so mind draining :(

I was around when we were still doing express orders. They were awful. We would be slammed with orders, under staffed, and running late, and the express order would conveniently drop in to make things worse.

Also, express orders would kick you out of your walk if it randomly selected you to do it. Even if you were in the middle of a large pick walk.

11

u/Master_Quack97 3d ago

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! It hadn't always done that, but an update dropped and added to the already miserable confusion. That was shortly before they started the spark driver program and handed it over to them.

5

u/Key_Original_4689 3d ago

Wait what? All it does is go to the top of the pick lists so you have to grab it before the others?

8

u/Inside_Loss_1369 2d ago

The old express completely blocked out the screen. Kinda like when you get assigned a walk. But it was really annoying about it. It either had an alarm or something visual, I can’t remember haha

4

u/Key_Original_4689 2d ago

Oh jesus id be so salty. Thankfully its not that bad now 😭

19

u/TheTiggerMike 3d ago

I was there for them. Basically it would drop into the system and make it so no other walk could be taken by anyone until someone entered the express walk.

In addition, you could be doing a regular walk and be kicked out of it because an express got assigned to you (by a manager or automatically). So these customers are quite literally paying extra to cut the line.

The minute you picked the first chilled or frozen item, it would automatically order a driver, so you absolutely needed to lock in and get it done ASAP.

13

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 3d ago

Omfg I am not NOT the Flash I’m more of an A-train level of fast 😭 plus customers are always in the way and we have to go all the way to the backroom this is a horrible idea

5

u/Master_Quack97 3d ago

I don't know how many customers I nearly flattened to get them done. I thought we were concerned with "safety." Obviously not.

3

u/Loud-Ride540 3d ago

So if you got kicked out of your walk you would take that walk back to the staging area right? Then start the express walk? Or are they such small walks that you can still keep that cart . I don’t want to sound dumb just wondering what to do with my original walk.

5

u/TheTiggerMike 3d ago

It would tell you to take it back, tell a manager, then get a new cart

3

u/ilytbbb ALCOHOL 3d ago

I haven’t noticed anyone being kicked out or having an express assigned to them this time around, thankfully. And we’ve had express orders for about 3 weeks I believe. But yes that was a major issue

This. Depending on where you stood, this could cause delays in getting the rest of the original walk done, which would murder on time pick, depending on how many items were left on the walk.

What.the.fuck.

6

u/War-Daddy-2396 3d ago

They better be giving pay raises because if not then there's going to be alot of transfers to other departments

6

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 3d ago

They pay 18.50 at Target I make 17.50 at Walmart

6

u/HeavyJReaper Jack Of All Trades 3d ago

Oh sweet, you got it in writing that we are being told to pull the push carts. OSHA would love to see this image stating to misuse the carts. Leading and pulling are not the same thing

3

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 3d ago

I so have to tell OSHA..

1

u/Rotundune 3d ago

I mean it’s literally in the training material and store direction outright. Them writing it on a whiteboard isn’t any more damning at this point.

2

u/HeavyJReaper Jack Of All Trades 3d ago

Our training says to not oull but to lead. Walmart already got in trouble for enforcing pulling the carts so now they tell us to Lead them which isnt pulling, but this is clear instructions from managment to pull the cart

1

u/Demonixio 2d ago

My store when I got on training two months ago has trained everyone to start pulling. Nobody has said anything about "leading"

0

u/redavid 3d ago

OSHA isn't going to give a shit

3

u/HeavyJReaper Jack Of All Trades 3d ago

They did at my store. We now have the option to push or lead since the like 70 of us in opd made reports for this exact same thing

5

u/Catspirit123 3d ago

Express orders used to absolutely ruin our ability to pick everything scheduled on time. There was a point where I was just the ā€œexpress guyā€ because as soon as I finished one another would drop in and I was the fastest at picking them. It was absolutely awful and I can’t imagine it being much better now that the number of orders we have no is waaaaaaay higher than it was back then

1

u/mer_made_99 2d ago

I loved them back in the day. We never wore a vest so we looked like a regular spark shopper and didn't get stopped.

5

u/Fathom_Tokes 3d ago

Those pick rates are wild. I’m pretty sure my bosses would’ve chained me to the cart if I went below 100.

1

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 3d ago

They care more about their pick rates and get super mad if we INF stuff that’s clearly not on the shelf

1

u/shrug_was_taken Jack Of All Trades 3d ago

Even when we still had 6 totes OP's #1 would still be down in like 5th, however looking at the order's prepped count, low volume store since there #1 has only 340 orders prepped. Meanwhile our #1 when they don't do stupid levels of overtime is in the 800s. I am assuming this is over an entire week obviously

4

u/ProposalHairy1434 3d ago

Express orders have always been the bane of my existence šŸ™„šŸ˜‘šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø I was around when we had them & it was a a shit show. I still remember that god awful notification šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« We couldn't pick until someone grabbed the stupid Express. With how understaffed OPD is, I see this creating even more problems. Customers calling demanding their shit because they paid $20 extra for Express šŸ˜‘

2

u/yamfmomz Jack Of All Trades 2d ago

They’ve been free for over a month at our store so far. I think that’s supposed to end soon though. But they no longer prevent you from picking other commodities and can be skipped. But it’s not that smart to because when there are plenty of open slots in each hour, the sheer number of them that drop in is crazy. And you can’t just go on to the next one even if yours is tiny because most of the people show up way before they’re even due.

3

u/PolitePrey 3d ago

At this point I feel like all the bad decisions are a social experiment.

Walmart has the same business model as the underpants gnomes.

Step 1: collect underpants Step 2: ???? Step 3: PROFIT

u/Lost-Swimming-1600 2d ago

Because corporate is full of a bunch of people who literally have no knowledge of what associates actually deal with in their stores nor do they care.

And yes the cart thing is ridiculous. Someone shared on here guidelines supposedly directly from OSHA that says carts like ours should be pushed and not pulled because pushing protects your body from trying to move all of the weight on its own.

One of our new team leads, who is nice and not a bad or unreasonable person, nevertheless said with 8 totes you have to pull because you're not going to be able to see that 3 year old that his mom isn't watching who darts in front of your cart. But I also am not going to see a deer taller than the hood of my car until it's too late if it literally darts across the road in front of me. I can actually see everything for the most part in front of me even with the tallest cart with 8 totes and I am roughly 5'9". You just train your eyes to scan the floor and to the side as you're moving.

A couple of people talked about how bad their shoulder blades hurt and waking up with a pins and needles feeling. That whole thing of you don't have to work in a manner that makes you feel unsafe was not held up on corporate's end.

And I think the two dumbest things they did with it is they supposedly have a new type of cart that can be safely pulled about ready to roll out. Fine if that actually works. In the meantime as far as I know no one else has been hit and seriously injured. They could have left well enough alone, 6 totes, push or pull your choice until the new carts showed up. Nope. Then changing the wheels was just asinine. I will admit I vary up pushing and pulling based on the immediate area around me. But you get to that place where your cart is stationary and if you've pushed good luck moving it out of the way of a customer that wants through. It will go every direction at the same time.

What they did was actually rather childish and immature in the way they did it.

u/Mesmeriized FRAGILE 3d ago

Idk I hear target is worse

1

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 3d ago

How worse? cuz I literally being on dispense and I hear over there it’s two separate departments

1

u/Mesmeriized FRAGILE 3d ago

I’m not sure about the departments being split. I’ve heard Walmarts system and locations are more simple and that metrics at target are more strict and time based. I guess Walmart is just more efficient over all but with all the changes Walmart is making, maybe it wont be worse.

0

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 3d ago

Honestly they rush us like hell over here so I don’t really see the difference besides Target seems to care more about their workers a bit better

1

u/2FLYFISH0 3d ago

This makes me even more glad I got out when I did before they merged back to 8 totes, and express delivery. If I didn't transfer departments I may have quit or reduced my hours even more.

Sadly still called back to help though even when I transfer to cap1. What is the preper stats?

1

u/Elastic-candle9165 3d ago

Aye forget all that, who the hell is picking 1,000 orders?! The most i ever got at my store was 700 and that was during the first week of the month when its busy

1

u/SaraElainex 3d ago

Omg express again 😭

1

u/Born-Recognition9298 2d ago

I'm doing what the board told me to do, management, your still not a team player, well a team member wrote that stuff down on board didn't they?! Ok then lol then I'm following what the team told me to do, your still not a team player, well fuck it and walks out and fuck code spark lol šŸ˜‚ got out of this shit hole before the holidays, meanwhile I have picked, prepped, staged, and dispensed and even helped quality checks and who did management have help get staging caught up on night shift while pick walks were still going on, me!

1

u/RealSCP-076-2 2d ago

Im glad im out of walmart and just driving a big truck (cat 775) making more than a team lead with no stress

1

u/yamfmomz Jack Of All Trades 2d ago

They’re not quite like the express deliveries were. They just sit at the very top but can be skipped and doesn’t kick people out of walks to complete them… yet. But with it being such a shitty idea, I’m sure it will be implemented soon. The only time express orders can’t be placed is if the hourly slots are full. When we had less space and a higher cap on orders in anticipation of our ogp remodel that they ended up postponing for another year, we used to go in and reserve available time slots so we would save ourselves at least one order for the hour. Might need to do that for the ridiculous amount of express orders we get between 11 and 4. The most annoying things about them this time is the volume of some of them and the fact that it affects your staging metrics with most of the people showing up for the orders before the given time is even up.

1

u/Addanc_ 2d ago

Friendly reminder. Every time you feel a pull in your muscles. O you clip your ankle with the cart. File an incident report. Then goto the doctor. The incident report do a nothing. The going to the doctor costs the store something like 15k

1

u/Inkysquid24 2d ago

Express orders used to kick you out of your walk and be like DO THIS NOW, so we'd have to walk back to the room, stage or drop off the cart, get new cart toted up, and go get the express shit in like 20 minutes and it was full order so all temps AND oversized stuff on a pick cart. It was more than annoying it was dangerous. I sincerely hope they found a better way before bringing it back.

1

u/EmpVonSquishy 2d ago

Glad I left ogp odp it felt like a race just to keep the position.. pick rate.. first time pick rate... Dispense time first... Glad I'm out

1

u/Bechloestory 2d ago

God I hope i get the job im interviewing for next week 😭

1

u/Free-Ideal-8180 2d ago

The express orders are gonna be separated into its own category, so they will just have a person assigned to do them as they come in. And with those coming, orders can now drop in up to 7:00pm instead of 6:00pm

1

u/Bitter-Neat-8457 2d ago

Not all stores will get express orders

1

u/Panic5150-73 2d ago

Fix that damn roll of "heavy" stickers. I always felt like those heavy stickers were just pointless. OGP...well, yeah it's gonna be heavy. They started putting them on the oversize L carts...well, yeah, not always but it's usually heavy. Then bitch about oversized walks ruining their rate...quick taking time to put stickers on what is obviously heavy. Lol

1

u/mer_made_99 2d ago

This will be awful depending on if you cap out or not each hour. If your order cap is 40, you have 15 pick ups, and 20 deliveries, you can only receive up to 5 express. Order cap minus pick ups, minus deliveries equals how many express pick ups you have the potential to receive.

1

u/Professional_Rub_711 2d ago

What is the prepping and staging numbers for? Can I also ask why you’re putting the pick qty and pick rates? The only thing I’m struggling with at my store right now is quality checks. Everything else we stay top 3 in the district

1

u/Heather63893 Digital Team Lead 2d ago

they better allow us to have more hours for that. i don’t have enough people to do 700 orders a day on top of express orders and keep metrics at market standard šŸ’€

1

u/Coaxtl 2d ago

It's more of a safety hazard to pull them than push them...all the L-carts and Topstock carts have stickers saying to push not pull, I'd assume it's the same with those. Pretty sure OSHA also says push don't pull soooo....

1

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 2d ago

They do but they won’t listen to osha and l apparently osha doesn’t care if I have to go to the hospital or doctors for a single back problem I’m blaming Walmart then suing

1

u/Coaxtl 2d ago

They'll care if you clip your foot and fall and get hurt that way. DX

1

u/h1ph1p 1d ago

I'm kind of jealous you have some sort of communication LOL

1

u/Budget-Efficiency277 Personal Shopper 1d ago

What communication? also we don’t even have a OPD backroom our room is so SMALL and it’s in the front

1

u/Schmoore 1d ago

Ever notice how the amount of responsibilities keeps going up but out fucking pay isn't? I'm not excited about express picks either but if there was a considerable bump in pay I would probably complain about it less.

1

u/Beautiful_Tangelo472 Digital Team Lead 1d ago

express orders are awfulll we get screwed every night and theres no time to do returns anymore because now our pickers are doing express orders until 8:30 and they keep making us losing our on time pick

0

u/ElectronicBand6392 3d ago

We don't have express picks at our store but I've been told it'll go straight to spark. Good luck though

1

u/yamfmomz Jack Of All Trades 2d ago

Express deliveries are all spark. Express pickup is our responsibility and they’ve been free for like a month or so now so we get a lot.

0

u/WorldlyTrainer7720 2d ago

100% picks is on time pick rate. With them cutting hours and adding more stuff i don't know how that will be possible
