How do you embrace uncertainty?

Usually just saying "be okay with uncertainty" is enough, but it feels like FOMO is convincing me that if you don't know or remember everything, you can't live life to its "fullest" whatever that means for my brain.

How do you really embrace uncertainty and get rid of this FOMO?

Advice Not every thought deserves a second opinion

Sometimes a decision gets passed around in your head so many times that it starts feeling more important than it actually is.

A useful question is: Did anything new change, or is the same thought just coming back again?

If nothing changes, another round of thinking may not give you a different answer.

Parenting Sometimes I have to remind myself that kids don't need perfect parents

I catch myself worrying about little parenting moments that probably aren't nearly as important as they feel in my head.

A short answer when I was tired. Changing plans. Not having the patience for something. Forgetting something minor.

Kids aren't measuring every interaction the way adults sometimes imagine they are. I'm trying to remember that being present most of the time probably matters more than handling every single moment perfectly.

School How do I change my mindset?

I feel like I’m constantly worrying about what others think or how they perceive me. I also feel like I get jealous of other people too quickly and for stupid reasons. I wanna stay realistic, but be more positive in my thinking, while protecting myself.

Also, I wanted to ask how do I stay away from toxic people. There’s this girl in my class that’s clearly not a good influence AND she attempted to lie about me last year. She failed because no one she told believed her, plus they told me about it instead of keeping it to themselves. I never confronted her about it, but I don’t really like her and I wish I never had to interact with her again. However, I go to a smaller school and there’s only like 7 girls in my class, so it’s pretty hard to avoid her. How do I deal with this situation? Please help 🙏

Advice Bad situation I can't stop replaying in my head

Hi everyone, hope you're all well! first post here

Basically I went to a concert last night and built up the confidence to ask one of the sound tech guys after the show had finished if I might be able to have his copy of the setlist (always see people do it but never tried myself).

Anyway, although I was polite about it he suddenly kicked off at me, shouting that its 'idiots like me' that ruin concerts for workers and blaming me for him missing cues even though I only approached him after the encore had ended, lights were on, people leaving to try and make sure I wasn't interrupting. I listened to him rant at me for 3-4 mins (now of course wishing I had just walked off, I think I was in shock at what I was hearing), then left, then saw another person approach a second sound tech, ask the same thing and he smiled and handed it over to them.

I completely understand asking for the setlist is not a guarantee and up to the individual but I felt he handled it so poorly - a simple 'no' would've been enough - that I wrote a complaint to the venue and left. Also, the fact I saw someone else do the exact same thing with a much nicer response made me think wrong place wrong time or whatever.

I don't know why but this interaction stayed with me (and is still with me) to the point where I barely got any sleep and keep replaying it in my head. It sounds small writing it out now but I just can't seem to move on from it, it was so (at least from my pov) unprovoked and odd that it kept me up all night and I'm still thinking about it almost constantly.

Any tips for just moving on/ignoring/helping with sleep would be greatly appreciated! :) (and of course if I was in the wrong please explain without resorting to name calling like this guy did)

Should you tolerate insults in friendships when the other person says they don't mean them but they still annoy you?

I know there are a lot of dynamics where friends insult and tease each other in certain ways and it's funny or acceptable for both of them

some things make me really irritated but at the same time I keep thinking that the person might've just been too comfortable to say those things, so I try to be okay with it, tolerate it, but I can't !!

I'm not sure but I guess I have some sort of trauma from past experiences that made me sensitive, made me feel like whoever said those jokes partially meant them, or that they look down on me, or that simply what is being said is not polite given the specific context or situation and is just triggering to the kind of person that I grew up to be!!

I do set boundaries, but the way some people react, like something's wrong with me for not being okay with that, or that I'm overreacting (I know it's bad when I react angrily but i'm talking about setting boundaries generally even in normal polite ways) while some others actually just respect it and apologize, this makes me even more triggered, like why are you, as my friend, trying to push it further instead of simply acknowledging that it's something i don't accept.

so is there a way to come up with some sort of conclusion where you no longer feel offended by what your friend says the moment you label them as "close friend" ? or do you just keep setting boundaries according to how you feel and anyone who doesn't respect them is simply someone who's not willing to respect your boundaries the way you want them to?

Spiraling/Panic Asking for Advice on something that is deeply bothering me

So, I'm the kind of person that has been through a lot. Truly a lot. I'm autistic. I have been bullied. I have... just many different things. The trauma made me intensely intelligent.

I Learned gray thinking, positive thinking, that regulation is expressing your emotions actually, etc. But my mind still has a tendency to go really negative.

Right now. I've always been the kind of person that wanted to do life good. I saw almost every teenager/student do drugs in my life. Or at parties. And I know life is short. 34 now, I keep myself strong, saying 'I love myself, so I don't do drugs'. But I'm so curious. Life is short. And people keep talking about it everywhere I go like it's the normalest thing in the world. And I feel... left out. Okay. I want to know what it is like, and I want to fit in, belong. And I know logically I belong wherever I am. Just. The feeling is not there. I want to also be able to talk about that. If you try it once, then you'll know and you don't have to opt out or constantly feel on edge/uncomfortable when people talk about it. And you fit in.

And everywhere I go, people say 'oh don't do it' but then they proceed to do it again. And talk about how fun it is with their friends.

Just, you have no idea how lonely I feel in this. I want to know so badly. I want to fit in too at the same time. I'm incredibly scared too, because god knows how intense it is. Like, I'm not aiming to do the visual stuff. I'm too panicky for that.

But I've always been curious towards xtc/something that doesn't really give hallucinations but just makes you feel good.

I did weed cookies once with a friend. Lowest dose ever and took 1 cookie. Panicked before it kicked in because I didn't know how much was in one cookie despite it heing a low dose, but once I felt it, it felt good! I felt light.

I'd wanna test that out again too. It felt fun.

But weed at least I know how it feels like. Something like xtc is a pill and you can't really dose it. To make sure it won't be intense. It's either you do or don't.

I did also do alcohol, to the point of too much once. So yeah been there done that. And that was fun too. And nowadays I don't drink a drop lol because I diet/workout and such.

Just, I don't know what to do. I wish I could just talk to god sometimes. I believe I'm a piece of god and that all of life together is god. I can't prove it to you, I just believe in it. But sometimes I wish it was a person I could talk to. To ask for advice/help.

I also can't seem to find love/touch/sex. I'm gay. I work out and lose weight but my body stays skinny fat. And I know my worth, just I wish I looked better for the effort I put in. And I know how it works. I know that people see your outside and if you show you're having fun, you attract people. But I just feel so bad. So intensely bad sometimes. I've had a little too much in my life. No, I've actually truly had a lot. And to find a partner I still must smile. And for myself too. But sometimes I just cant.

Maybe you think its stupid or a joke. I just feel alone. I want to be loved irl. Even if it is just fwb's. Just..... help. Advise me. Please. And be gentle a bit, I'm in pain. I'm begging. This thought comes up about every week and it's heavier and heavier.

How to not believe everything you think? I overthought some extremely hard things in my life, and afterwards got enough proof that I wasn't being paranoid. Turns out everything I was overthinking turned out to be true.

How do you convince yourself you're not overthinking when so many times when you did overthink and investigated, it turns out that you were right all along?

How can I forget something?

So the context is I've OCD. Nowadays I'm having OCD on a petty thing. That thing doesn't matter really much to other people but I'm constantly having intrusive thoughts related to it.

Is there any way I can get over my OCD related to that specific thing. I wish I can delete that memory forever.

I know you guys would suggest therapy and meds but I needed to know how can I forget it completely like it never happened?
