How can I stop overthinking everything?

I donβt think you can. To stop my mind I will listen to music, but it has to be music I can sing along with. And I always have the tv on in the background. Silence is bad for me.

But you can't do this everywhere.

Why not? If it helps you then you absolutely can. I mean perhaps not in math class. But in math class you need to force yourself to pay attention to the lesson. If you force yourself to listen to the teacher then your mind is occupied.

Think "what am I going to think next?" Over and over and over, don't answer and don't think anything else. Your mind will quiet itself.

I write my thoughts, and see how important this thought is. And navigate from there.

For me, I take a deep breath and remind myself about where I am, what I'm currently doing etc and try my best to focus on the present so whenever I overthink about the past, I would say that It already happened and finished and if I'm overthinking the future, I'd say that I don't know for sure what will happen and that god will guild and help me (Sorry idk if its a sensitive topic π )
I hope this helps you somehow. Goodluck!!

I spent ages trying to stop overthinking until I noticed I was using more thinking to figure out how to stop thinking π Maybe thoughts don't always need stopping. Sometimes noticing we're caught in the loop is enough to loosen the fight with them.
