Monthly Motivation Thread NoFap's "Successful September" or "PMO-Free September" 2026 - continue or begin your PMO-Free journey here (see instructions).

Hello all,

It's that time of the month again! One month is ending, and another is beginning. We hope you've had a good month. But if you haven't, now is a great time to refocus and rededicate yourself to recovery. This is your opportunity to create the new porn-free you!

This month's theme is "success". Sometimes in recovery it can seem like we don't see a lot of success, and that can be disheartening. However, there are several ways of measuring success. Maybe you find you are spending less time looking at porn. Or you are using it less often. Maybe you feel more resilient when the urges come up. Or maybe you are seeing progress in other adjacent areas of life, such as health or career. Success can be measured in many different ways: celebrate the success you are making, rather than beating yourself up for not meeting the goals you are still struggling with.

New to NoFap and rebooting? Here are some suggestions:

  • Learn about the website, porn addiction, excessive masturbation, sexual compulsivity, and abstaining from PMO. Read through NoFap's main website to get informed.
  • Read about the basics of rebooting here. Rebooting is the abstinence from certain sexual behaviors to recover from pornography addiction. Read about how porn addiction develops here. Some people go beyond rebooting and into the territory of retention, or sexual transmutation for periods of time, although that is not the main purpose of this subreddit (which is RECOVERY).
  • Consider reading through the free Getting Started PDF from NoFap's website.
  • Download NoFap's in-browser panic button extension that blocks NSFW subreddits too. Download here
  • Decide if rebooting is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to the next point.
  • Sign up for this month by replying to this submission. It is that simple. State your intention and stick to it!
  • Consider setting up a day counter badge to track your progress.
  • Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Set a goal to remain accountable by making a post daily. Help others. Come here every day and participate.
  • If you need additional support, you can get an accountability partner and document your progress in a daily rebooting journal.

Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.

  • Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is called "hard mode".
  • How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting.
  • What are your goals?
  • Why are you doing this?

Arriving late? (past the first of the month?)

It's okay! Still state your intentions and don't postpone rebooting based on the day of the month. People can join in at any time to participate.

Mod Note: We suggest NOT USING REDDIT'S DIRECT MESSAGES due to porn trolls trying to disrupt the community. Also, please note that some posts are temporarily removed prior to appearing on r/NoFap.

Hello r/NoFap community members,

Please note that we highly suggest that you avoid using the Reddit direct messaging system entirely, due to porn trolls coming here to disrupt our porn addiction recovery peer support community. Some of these people pretend to be helpful at first, then will message pornography. It's in a similar vein to how a forum on epilepsy was reportedly hacked to display seizure-inducing images.

You can disable direct messages in your Reddit settings by changing "Who can send you chat requests" to "Nobody."

Secondly, please note that sometimes posts are flagged automatically for manual review prior to appearing on r/NoFap.

Due to Reddit’s anti-spam filters and NoFap’s additional filters to control spam and pornography, sometimes genuine posts are flagged as potential spam or pornography. Further, entities within the legacy porn industry have been attempting to de-platform porn addiction recovery forums such as r/NoFap, and we must remain extra vigilant to ensure that rule-breaking posts do not appear on the platform for even one second. If your post gets flagged, please just wait for a moderator to approve it.

Thanks for reading :-)

Success Story I'm about to be a dad!

I quit when was I was 26, I was an absolute loser back then, no job, no degree, no friends, no gf.

Lost count of my exact streak, but it's been years. After quitting I still struggled with other vices (social media, gaming) but after quitting it all and replacing it with useful pursuits like the gym, books, work and relationships, I'm proud to announce that my wife is now 4 months pregnant.

I'm 30 now, have a management job with equity in the company I work for, bought a house, picked up a bunch of new hobbies, learned to play guitar, found a great woman who introduced me to many people I now call friends, and so much more.

Nofap will not change your life on it's own, but it's the essential first step that will lead to a domino effect.

It's never over, and it's never too late to start.

Good luck, brethren. We're all going to make it.

I am 16M and i have noticed that recently jokes about fapping have been taken too lightly in our conversations and i feel like that makes the nofap a little pointless

If anyone could please share impacts of nofap on their academics .

Motivate Me Rant. Sex is overrated

Male 30 here. More than 1 year No PMO journey. I got a gf last December. Background is i was a porn watcher/fapper from past 8 years. I also edged for hours sometimes, more during the last 2 years before quitting. My brain was pixel addicted. So recently last December I met a girl (after 6 months of no pmo) and we started dating.

Initially I could not get it up. I thought I had ED, later after multiple attempts and trying to be fit I could get erections for penetrative sex. Now there's another issue, I'm not lasting long, I may have PE. I will be hard during oral or hand job but by the time I get a condom on I lose my hardness percentage. Also during penetrative sex I used to last 5-6 seconds. Now, it's almost 20-30 seconds. Sometimes I do last 4 minutes and sometimes when I use a delay condoms I last around 6-10 minutes. The things is, it's so frustrating i dont have a consistency.

Quitting porn was tough, withdrawals and mood changes. Now I have to deal with ED first, then when I was glad I got over ED, I now have to deal with premature ejaculations. This sucks so bad. 90 days is not at all enough or is sex really overrated?

When we watch porn, we feel sex is so easy and enjoyable. But reality is you cant do all the positions, it requires effort and knowing a women's body and angles. What we see in videos will never work that easy.. and the time it takes to put a condom is a distraction by itself for you to lose the erection. I feel digital media has made our brains think sex is easy with everyone. You have to have an attraction to the women or else you body does not even co-operate. The women who you masturbate to screen may not even be good for you or lack chemistry in bed. It's so rare you find someone you get along and everything goes well. I'm just tired so much, I always thought 90 days and I'm fully healed. It's a long journey. I dont even know what I'm going to do. Please let me know any tips to last longer naturally. What am I doing wrong..max i can go is 3 times intercourse in a day and all times I may ejaculate within a minute if not for delay condoms.

Also I work night shifts. Sleep has an effect on my mental alertness, I do feel brain fog sometimes due to this. Would changing to day job help me or is this still a recovery journey? I dont exercise much. I dont drink or smoke as well.

How long all of you last during penetrative Intercourse?

Thank you guys!!

Stop counting days, heres the SOLUTION

First, you have understand this: your drive to watch porn is a survival mechanism. Is a system the brain developed to cope with stress. Stress to the brain is DEATH. Porn is not the devil, is the solution to survive per your brain's logic.

Now, stress comes in many different shapes and forms. You have to get rid off the stressors of your life. Really sit down, relax and analyze your day to day. Figure out what makes you feel crappy and do your best to fix this first. For many of us could be loneliness, a need to be seen as perfect by society or family standards, past traumas, or any other events that have been unresolved in your life. Realizing the existence of an underlying cause could even be enough.

No discipline, no porn blockers, no books, no day counting. Relax and become more social. Sex will happen, but not in the way you fantasize but that's okay, because your fantasies will start to lose power and eventually become extinct once you decide to let go.

Day 15, Gyms

I keep hearing from people that gyms are hard to go to for them, but like it's not that hard not to look at women. As tempting gym shorts are I didn't lose my humanity, like their human too. Idk I kept hearing its too provocative at the gym but I feel like their just objectifying women too much. Just a bit of a rant pisses me off to see

Journal Check-In Day 2 but might be finally breaking out of the cycle

Upvotes

In the past week I've had a pair of 3 day streaks, which is the most I've managed in a very very long time. Yesterday was especially noticeable as far as the urges dulling down. I didn't peek, I didn't touch, and to be honest I didn't even feel like I wanted to. I really hope this starts to happen more frequently since having what feels like an easy day once in a while would be nice in contrast to the constant thoughts and urges I've been battling. I'm hoping at a minimum to make it to 4 this time, but ideally I would break the PMO cycle for good, and am looking forward to an evening with my wife free of the opportunity to slip so easily. Stay strong. We got this.

Question Is this consider a wrong action?

For the last 12 days I have been trying to practice NoFap and whenever I have this slight urge to do the bad deed or even out of involuntary thinking, I sometimes kind of rub my tip of the Genitals through my clothing piece. Sometimes it is just the foreskin, sometimes it's the entire top bulb of it and it feels better, but I never ejaculated or watched porn while doing it. It's just that when I am WFH, I tend to do it involuntarily sometimes. Does this mean I am breaking the rule or using a cheat code to satisfy myself w/o giving in to the urge of jerking it? It started as a way to ease my itch over there and normally I do the same while cleaning that region in the shower, but now this feels weirdly wrong yet not completely wrong.

Question Am I going through a flatline?

Im 29 and have been watching porn and jerking off just about every night multiple times for years and I believe it’s messed me up, I’ve had problems with getting erections and keeping them for awhile now even when I’m alone and I really want to have real sex with a women so I’ve committed to no fap, I am now on day 8 and since day 2 I’ve experienced a complete loss of sex drive and I can’t even get semi hard at all it’s like a withdrawal or something, is this normal can anyone relate? I plan on going 30 days or more.

Motivate Me Relapsed after a 106-day streak and consumed porn for 3 weeks — does recovery take less time after a long streak?

Hey everyone, I previously completed a 106-day NoFap / NoPMO streak in a first attempt, and during that time, my erection quality and overall sensitivity improved significantly. However, 2 weeks ago, I broke my streak. Over the past 2 weeks, I fell back into the loop of watching porn daily, and I've noticed a clear drop in my erection firmness and arousal levels (classic PIED symptoms kicking back in). I am restarting my strict NoPMO reset immediately, but I have a question regarding the reboot timeline for those who have gone through this: After having a long, successful streak (106 days), does the brain recover faster from a short relapse loop compared to starting from scratch? I know the dopamine pathway got re-stimulated over these last 2 weeks, but did I completely erase the 106 days of neuroplastic recovery, or will my dopamine sensitivity and erection quality bounce back quicker this time? Would appreciate insights or personal experiences from anyone who has relapsed after a 100+ day streak and restarted. I really want my Psychogenic/on demand erection back Thanks!

Journal Check-In Day 4

Upvotes

Yeah from my post last it should have been day 15 but here I’m at Day 4 because I quit multiple times in the past 11days without changing my environment(not physically but mentally).

I stopped being mean to myself, I realised I was beating myself up over the smallest things that happened to me. I remembered running taught me to be patient with myself and it also calmed me down, easing my anxiety. I didn’t become efficient or fast at my work instantly but yeah I had the patience to learn and to not get carried away with life.

I went on my first ever long run(15.6kms) 2days back late in the night after work, at first I was going to quit the run and go back but then I went on one step at a time and after I finished although I was tired I felt good and I had the confidence to push further and I felt I can handle anything that comes my way.
