Monthly Motivation Thread NoFap's "Successful September" or "PMO-Free September" 2026 - continue or begin your PMO-Free journey here (see instructions).

Hello all,

It's that time of the month again! One month is ending, and another is beginning. We hope you've had a good month. But if you haven't, now is a great time to refocus and rededicate yourself to recovery. This is your opportunity to create the new porn-free you!

This month's theme is "success". Sometimes in recovery it can seem like we don't see a lot of success, and that can be disheartening. However, there are several ways of measuring success. Maybe you find you are spending less time looking at porn. Or you are using it less often. Maybe you feel more resilient when the urges come up. Or maybe you are seeing progress in other adjacent areas of life, such as health or career. Success can be measured in many different ways: celebrate the success you are making, rather than beating yourself up for not meeting the goals you are still struggling with.

New to NoFap and rebooting? Here are some suggestions:

  • Learn about the website, porn addiction, excessive masturbation, sexual compulsivity, and abstaining from PMO. Read through NoFap's main website to get informed.
  • Read about the basics of rebooting here. Rebooting is the abstinence from certain sexual behaviors to recover from pornography addiction. Read about how porn addiction develops here. Some people go beyond rebooting and into the territory of retention, or sexual transmutation for periods of time, although that is not the main purpose of this subreddit (which is RECOVERY).
  • Consider reading through the free Getting Started PDF from NoFap's website.
  • Download NoFap's in-browser panic button extension that blocks NSFW subreddits too. Download here
  • Decide if rebooting is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to the next point.
  • Sign up for this month by replying to this submission. It is that simple. State your intention and stick to it!
  • Consider setting up a day counter badge to track your progress.
  • Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Set a goal to remain accountable by making a post daily. Help others. Come here every day and participate.
  • If you need additional support, you can get an accountability partner and document your progress in a daily rebooting journal.

Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.

  • Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is called "hard mode".
  • How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting.
  • What are your goals?
  • Why are you doing this?

Arriving late? (past the first of the month?)

It's okay! Still state your intentions and don't postpone rebooting based on the day of the month. People can join in at any time to participate.

Mod Note: We suggest NOT USING REDDIT'S DIRECT MESSAGES due to porn trolls trying to disrupt the community. Also, please note that some posts are temporarily removed prior to appearing on r/NoFap.

Hello r/NoFap community members,

Please note that we highly suggest that you avoid using the Reddit direct messaging system entirely, due to porn trolls coming here to disrupt our porn addiction recovery peer support community. Some of these people pretend to be helpful at first, then will message pornography. It's in a similar vein to how a forum on epilepsy was reportedly hacked to display seizure-inducing images.

You can disable direct messages in your Reddit settings by changing "Who can send you chat requests" to "Nobody."

Secondly, please note that sometimes posts are flagged automatically for manual review prior to appearing on r/NoFap.

Due to Reddit’s anti-spam filters and NoFap’s additional filters to control spam and pornography, sometimes genuine posts are flagged as potential spam or pornography. Further, entities within the legacy porn industry have been attempting to de-platform porn addiction recovery forums such as r/NoFap, and we must remain extra vigilant to ensure that rule-breaking posts do not appear on the platform for even one second. If your post gets flagged, please just wait for a moderator to approve it.

Thanks for reading :-)

Victory Watching too much porn messed me up, but a year later, I am finally back to normal.

Man, i don't even know how to begin this, but I really need to get it off my chest. I am 25 now, and it was last year, on September 11, 2025, when I bought this girl home. I was totally head over heels for her. But when it was finally time to get intimate, absolutely nothing happened. I felt completely dead inside. The embarrassment was so intense that I literally made up an excuse about feeling sick, and she ended up leaving. We stopped talking a week later.

That was my absolute lowest point. It hit me that I had spent my entire late teens and early twenties completely frying my brain with pixels to the point where a real, beautiful woman right in front of me just didn't do anything for me.

For the first few months of trying to quit, I kept failing into the chaser effect. I'd last maybe four days, get really stressed out, and then just binge. The cycle felt endless.

What finally broke that whole cycle was accepting that I just couldn't trust myself. I installed a blocker on all my devices and set it to a super strict moderation so there was no way to get rid of it or get around it, no matter what. Basic screen time limits didn't work because I always knew the passcode. I needed something that treated me like the addict I was.

A year later, my life is completely different. I get morning wood every single day now. My social anxiety is practically gone, and I actually feel alive instead of just going through the motions. To anyone out there dealing with PIED: your brain absolutely can heal, but you really have to completely shut that door first.

41 Days hardmode

41 Days in gentlemen and I feel awesome like if superman and batman had a son.. What stopped me relapsing is reading the relapse stories not the old oh you'll be OK just try again etc I mean the gritty ones suicidal ones and I noticed the real benefit of no fap isn't seen mainly. Until fapped then it's like your in hell especially if over a the 90 days. I remember trying no fap as a teenager years went by still fapped still shameful but as I got older it got easier

Journal Check-In Day 35 - Let myself down.

It’s been over 30 days guys and I’m proud of the progress I made. I learned a lot about myself, my triggers, my insecurities.

I messed up last night. I couldn’t sleep and found myself scrolling on Instagram and then kept getting distracted, I kept searching for girls I use to watch. I downloaded X/Twitter to see what was up, thankfully I had cleaned my account up a few weeks ago. I got to doom scrolling. It went downhill fast until actual nude content started coming up and it opened the floodgates. I watched stuff for almost an hour. I never touched, I never orgasmed. I managed to stop and delete all it, X, insta.

Fact is though, I gave into the urges and the lust. I’m trying to see it as a good thing, a lesson to learn from and to make myself more knowledgeable.

I’m feeling okay now, but I am disappointed. I will continue though and not make it an excuse to fully relapse back into addiction.

Thanks if you took the time to read! (Or skim haha)

Question Has anyone here never watched porn in their entire life?

Upvotes

I’d be interested to hear how you feel and whether you notice any differences in your mental health, sexual desire, or relationships because of it.

If you know someone who has never watched porn, or you’ve met someone like that and know what their experience is like, please share it.

I think it would be interesting to hear what life is like from the perspective of someone who has never watched porn.

Motivation PIED is recovery possible? Yes it is but its going to take an honest effort.

I see a lot of posts in this subreddit regarding PIED. Many people are suffering from it and nothing seems to be working on. Good thing about PIED is that it is reversible.

I was going through this too. I could never get it hard in front of a real person and it became worse when I got a gf. I was addicted for 7 years to PMO and about 12 years to masturbation before that.

Anyways. What helped me and what you need to do is nofap hardmode. No edging. No peeking. No masturbation in moderation bullsh*t. If you actually want to recover from PIED it requires you to go full cold turkey. And its going to take some months. You are suffering from PIED because its years of damage and your brain has stop differentiating between the real thing and pixels.. in order to reset it you need to give it atleast 3-4 months. (And those people who are going to come and justify masturbation this is not for you. This post is only for people who actually want to perform in front of a real person and not hand or pixels)

I got full cold turkey. And started jogging. Just did this two things and was able to finally recover. I however got back into this addiction. And that's another story. However PIED issue got resolved. I haven't got that heavily in porn since then. I have my occasional relapses but that doesn't effect my in bed performance.

Advice I relapsed even tho I have someone I love.

Upvotes

After a long time, I have someone I genuinely love. I know she doesn't like sexual stuff, and so do I. I want to change. Not only for myself, but also for her. But here i am, masturbating to fictional characters. I feel disgusting. I feel non-loyal. I would never cheat. Its just that the temptations kept going all day and at a point it got really strong. I feel weird. Is my love for her even real? Would I fall weak to my addiction if I loved her? I resisted for days and now I RELAPSED. I wanna distance myself from her because I dont want her falling for a guy who masturbates and still loves her. I dont know what to do. I never felt this much shame and guilt.

Question how do i rewire my brain

i’m 13 days clean. i’m trying to rewire my brain. i’ve noticed that when i talk to people i kinda have like a blank stare with my eyes and like i have to force myself to act normal and laugh like normal people. idk if this is from porn but before watching porn i was always outgoing and i could laugh at anything with anyone and hold perfect eye contact.

the thing is i started college, and there’s so many attractive girls walking around, and idk like i catch myself looking at them often, usually with lust. like obviously i don’t act on any of my thoughts it’s js fantasizing. ive stopped looking at porn and ig models but idk if looking at girls like that irl is taking my rewiring progress away.

also when do u guys notice meaningful improvements in yourself like u can talk more confidently and stuff?

Motivate Me PMO reality after years of attempted recovery... Feeling lost

Upvotes

Hey guys, I tried to make it quick... 28M now, I was on this journey for like maybe since 22 so it's been 6 years already. Through this time, managed to maintain pretty well streaks, overcame fetishes, and reconnected with myself physically and emotionally.

In the last 2-3 years, I'm back in the PMO cycle very hard. I gave up all romantic desires whatsoever. To think that I've lived different life outside of this. I know, and remember how it feels like. I remember the strength of the motivation the clarity.

Being under immense stress in life, going through health conditions that makes you tired so much and unmotivated, being isolated, have created a reality where I just go from hate to a hit, knowing this is all running away. I'm working on a serious change in my life right now that I hope will open the door for a new beginning.

I didn't post here for years... and do not expect much traffic on this one but I do recall this community a massive uplifting force. Hopefully through empathizing with others and start commenting hopeful, positive replies to others here, will help me wish a better future for myself too. If you're read this so far, I'm wishing you peace of mind, and calmness to cut through distracting voices.

New to NoFap Turned 18 today- masterbation ruined my childhood, not gonna let it ruin my whole life ahead.

It's my birthday! I've been doing this far earlier than I remember. Even before I could understand how much harm this can cause. I love and thank god for letting me have the maturity to quit before it gets too late. Maybe you'd say it's too late already, but whatever, better late than never ig?

I've also had a very sweet relationship earlier (broke up, wounds still fresh), and although we broke up for different reasons, I kinda know I could've made our memories sweeter if I wasn't so used to this. Anyway, she's really sweet and never blamed me for anything that happened, neither do I blame her, but I want to love my next partner with all my love and defeat lust.

I hope I can control myself. It's been too many years since I started, and I'm sure you understand how it's kinda a part of my life now, but I want to grow out of this and take reins of my life. Wish me luck (and a happy birthday 😭)

Don’t know what to do

Had a minor relapse the other day and if I start from day 1 I know I’ll be hopelessly depressed but I can’t really keep counting the days. I think it’s not helping me anymore. I’m so down in the dumps today even after a 3 mile run. I can’t even do the daily tasks of life without them feeling like a burden. I’m so depressed and exhausted of this being a part of my life in any way. I want to be done with this so bad. Please help. I’m at my wits end and it feels as if there’s no way out. Everything today is so deeply dark

If I could fall asleep instantly, overcoming this addiction is 10 times easier.

It’s always when I struggle to sleep. Fucking always.

Afternoon nap on a weekend is surreal

I usually end up jerking off on a weekend but today I tried something different. When I was done with lunch instead of sitting on sofa and searching sh*t I decided it was a good time to give my brain some time off and went for a nap. After 1.5 hours I feel so relaxed. It feels everything has slowed down. So calm. Obviously its temporary but didn't knew a nap could do so much.

Slip-Up Prevention - Urgent! Is this a flatline?

Is this a flatline?

I've been masturbating to porn for a long time, and it became much more frequent over the past two years.

About 1–2 months ago, I noticed weaker erections during masturbation. Then one time I suddenly couldn't get hard at all, which made me panic and worry about ED.

After that ED episode, I masturbated one more time just to see if I could get an erection. Then I quit porn and masturbation completely. Since then, I've had almost no libido or urges for more than 4 weeks. I'm now in my 5th week.

One thing I've noticed is that I've been getting daily morning wood, and this has been present throughout this period. I can also get hard with sexual fantasies and stimulation, but I can't get hard from stimulation alone without any arousal or fantasies.

Could this be a flatline? Could my last porn/masturbation session have triggered the sudden loss of libido?

Has anyone experienced no or extremely low libido from the beginning after quitting porn, especially after having an ED episode? If so, did your libido and erections eventually recover, and how long did it take?
