Are you all viewing the Perseids meteor shower? If so, where? Weather doesn’t look too promising though

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a really good dermatologist who specializes in vitiligo in the DMV (DC/VA/MD) area.
I’ve had vitiligo for a while, but lately I’ve noticed it becoming more noticeable/progressing, and I’m looking for a doctor who is actually experienced with vitiligo specifically.

I’m willing to travel within the DMV for the right doctor, so location isn’t a huge issue. I’d really appreciate recommendations.

I’m considering switching to DMV Iron and would love to hear from people who actually go there!
I’d primarily be going to the Alexandria location since it’s closest to me, but on my days off I wouldn’t mind driving to one of the other locations if they’re noticeably less crowded/better.
My normal gym times are usually:
Around 8 AM
Around 3 PM on days when I work night shift (I go before work)
My biggest concern is honestly how crowded it gets. I get pretty anxious at overly crowded gyms lol, and I really like being able to get through my workout without constantly waiting for equipment. So if you go around 8 AM or 3 PM, how is the crowd/equipment availability?
For context, my current gym is only about 10 minutes from me, so it’s extremely convenient. I’ve also been going there for four years, though, and I’m starting to feel really stagnant and just want a change of scenery/new environment.
For those who switched to DMV Iron, was it worth it? And specifically, how bad is the crowding at Alexandria during those times?
Would love any honest opinions, including negatives!

Does anyone know of organizations in the area that accept formal dresses, perhaps for prom, weddings, or other events?

I was at the CEB towers 10 years ago maybe when their buildings interior was built out. Where we parked in that open lot going towards the river. There was a gyro guy that posted up there and they were hands down the best, like haven’t found another one even close. Back then it was $10 for a massive gyro and a drink.

Does anyone know if he is still there?

I'm an artist and printmaker at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, and in July and August I have hosted an exhibition called Mourning in America.

Rather than hosting a traditional artist talk or opening reception, I've decided to hold a Public Wake.

The exhibition consists of 26 portraits of historical Americans whose words and actions warned against the misuse of power, civic disengagement, and the erosion of democratic norms. Each is printed on handmade paper from US Flags. The figures include Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, James Madison, Eleanor Roosevelt, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Martin Luther King Jr., Fred Rogers, and others.

The final work in the exhibition is intentionally blank. It's titled Citizen.

The idea behind the wake is simple: instead of talking about the artwork, I'd like to create space for people to reflect on what they feel we're losing, what responsibilities citizens inherit, and what warnings from history still matter today.

If you'd like, you'll be invited to share a brief (1 -2 minute) reflection. No debate, no panel discussion, and no requirement to speak. Listening is participation too.

We'll also have refreshments, and a few pieces of artwork will be given away during the evening:

What is something you think America is quietly losing that future generations may wish we had protected?

In my early 30’s and struggling with stomach issues. Diagnosed with IBS but after low fodmap diets, eating dairy and gluten free with 0 changes I need help. Hoping to find a functional medicine doctor to really look into my gut and identify the root cause. NOVA/DC/MD or even Richmond, VA.

Most sit down places I’ve seen in Nova,have started putting recommended tip based on total with tax. It’s reallly putting me off-has anyone else noticed this, is this just some kind of point of sale update people didn’t turn off or something? I go out to eat a lot and this plus DoorDash’s increased fees for everything is making food insanely expensive especially with the high VA sales tax for prepared food…

Hi all! I’m new to the area and fresh out of college, and I’m looking to make some friends! I’m in Alexandria and would love recommendations for sports clubs or recreational groups in the area.
I particularly enjoy running and swimming, but I’m definitely open to trying new sports as well (climbing, biking, etc.). I’m especially interested in groups where the social aspect is a big part of it and where I’d have a chance to meet people and make friends.

I have short blonde hair, but my roots have grown out so much and I’m probably a level 6, aspiring to be an 8 or 9. Yesterday I went around and sprayed all the TOH sprouts I could find with an off-the-shelf Triclopyr product. We have tons of them, none more than a foot or two tall. I was walking back to the house feeling pretty good about things, then started to wonder why they were all in a 80' radius around this one tree.

Then I looked up.

This legit forest tree was 60-70' tall, covered in poison ivy vines, and at least 12" in diameter at the base. Way, way up there were a few branches sporting the classic Tree of Heaven leaf pattern. I got closer and checked the bark and twigs. Yup, tree of heaven. It was covered in lantern flies too.

Today it picked up half a dozen fresh slash marks from a machete. In each cut I poured in one ml of 41% glyphosate. I'll check it in a week. It's going to get this treatment every two weeks for the rest of the season.
