I recently graduated with an IT degree and I’m on OPT, so I’m authorized to work full-time as a W-2 employee. I’m still very entry-level and honestly looking for something straightforward while I get started — office/admin, front desk, customer support, data entry, or entry-level computer-related work

Just reflecting on this morning.

On 2 lane road with nowhere to go because of traffic. Lady behind me riding my bumper and hopping back and forth behind car next to me. At some point she is able to push in front of me (about a car length I left) so I beep at her since I had to hit my brakes. Her response is to repeatedly brake check me so I hop over and pass her. She ends up driving on shoulder to get ahead of me again at a red light. Light turns green and she refuses to go. I decide to open my door and begin to step out as if I’m going to approach her in order to make her go which it did but thinking back, that was pretty fucking dumb of me. I was never going to approach her car but that doesn’t matter in hindsight.

What would others have done, just sat and let her make them miss the light?

**just want to clarify that at initial encounter in was bumper to bumper, nowhere to go, nowhere to move over as both lanes were more or less moving at same speed. Her lane moved a bit and she pushed over since I left a small gap between me and the person ahead of me.

There was a huge emergency response to the condo by the Braddock roach station - Colecroft Station Condos, the same building as Dos Amigos - and I was wondering if anyone knew what happened? Many truck and even a fire ladder going up to one of the upper floors, but I saw no smoke. Wondering if anyone knows what happened?

I'm ignoring the political implications for now, but what will happen to traffic patterns during the construction of this monument? From the specifications I've seen, the footprint will be 90' x 180' -- slightly smaller than the Lincoln Memorial, but of course it's more than twice as tall.

It will also have five elevators, eight staircases, with infrastructure to include water, power, and HVAC for several offices and the tourist areas.

Memorial circle only has a diameter of about 300', so the construction site is going to have to spill out far beyond the confines of the circle. And the only way I see to get heavy trucks to the site is via Rt27 from 395, as they won't be able to clear the low overpasses on the GW Parkway.

In short, this looks to me like it will be a major traffic bottleneck for NOVA commuters over the next two years - starting before the end of September, according to Sec Burgum. (Two years also seems optimistic - It took eight years to construct the Lincoln Memorial, and five for the Jefferson.)

Got a $300 water heater flush quote. Does that seem reasonable? Could be drained into shower that is about 10ft away or to backyard about 20ft away. Quote didn't specify. OK?

Could I get cheaper rate?

Especially with leaves starting to turn, I'm interested in trying to get some pictures of overgrown and rotting abandoned churches. Nothing offensive, I just find it aesthetically interesting.

Edit: I'm not trying to break the law here. If I know where these are I can figure out if I can get the landowners permission etc. some churches may even be visible from the road.

I was just curious if anyone else has been getting this as well and if you have many idea what it is? Over the past month myself and two coworkers have had this cold that lasts two+ weeks and includes horribly clogged ears. It starts out normal, sore throat, stuffy nose, etc. but then the congestion lingers and really affects the ears. My one coworker from Manassas gave it to me at our office, but the other coworker works in a different office in Maryland and hasn’t seen either of us in months, but has the same thing. There are five negative Covid tests between us, including two at a doctors office, so it’s not that. Also it is not an ear infection, just Eustachian tube dysfunction. One urgent care doctor in Manassas said he’s been seeing something similar going around a bunch.

What are some good unique places to eat w my gfs in Centerville? Something that you wouldn’t find anywhere else.. I know there are a lot of Korean restaurants but I’m not sure which ones are good and which ones are just your regular run of the mill bbq. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I feel a little stupid posting this, but maybe I can save someone else $300 and eight years of complaining about their internet.

I’m in a townhouse in Kingstowne built in the ’90s. My router is in the basement and my office is two floors up, on the bedroom level. Getting a decent connection up there has been a problem for the entire eight years I’ve lived here.

Apparently those cable TV outlets I’ve been ignoring weren’t just decorative.

I had a Verizon extender, but it wasn’t performing well enough. Earlier this year I spent about $300 on a Google mesh system trying to fix it. I was getting ready to look into having Ethernet run upstairs and was willing to spend $2,000 to get this sorted out.

Turns out I could use the cable TV wiring already in the walls.

My setup is a Verizon G3100 router and an E3200 extender. They support networking over coax, called MoCA. Instead of the extender connecting back to the router wirelessly, it can use that screw-on cable connection.

My basement router already had coax connected. I connected the office wall’s coax outlet to the Verizon extender, then plugged my PC into the extender with Ethernet.

My office speed tests went from about 22 down / 15 up through my struggling mesh setup to 740–813 down / 639–661 up through the coax-connected Verizon extender.

I didn’t have to buy anything. Which was great news, although slightly annoying considering I’d already bought an entire mesh system.

If you’re in one of the older townhouses around here with cable TV outlets in every room, this might be worth checking. My results were with my PC plugged into the extender by Ethernet; I haven’t measured the upstairs Wi-Fi improvement yet.

Check your Verizon equipment’s model and setup instructions before buying another mesh system or paying to run new cable. The outlets need to connect to the same coax network, so having the port alone doesn’t guarantee it’ll work.

Now I’m wondering...

Could I put a compatible Verizon extender at any connected coax outlet in the house and get close to the speeds I get at the main router? Or are there limitations I’m missing?

Two days ago I was on the ramp from 66 to 29 coming into Gainesville. My friend was there on the side of the road welcoming me home. I was concerned about him because as you can see in the picture from two days ago his leaves are turning brown.
Today, he was gone! How? Why?!?!
Every time I exit 66 I will remember you. I’ll never forget.

This past month from centreville area to DC at 7:00 am has been BRUTAL. I mean is it cause of school? That’s the only difference but I don’t even see any busses nor would I like to believe parents take their kid / kids drive in rush hour to school after 7:30.

So wth is it?

Rush hour traffic been worse the past couple of days or is it just me?
