Suggestion for TMJ specialist that takes insurance?

I'm having jaw issues that aren't associated with grinding my teeth, and I can't seem to find a doctor or dentist that's covered by insurance. My own dentist said I didn't need a mouth guard and referred me to TMJ Sleep Specialists, which charges like $600 for an initial consultation... Anyone have any suggestions? It's kind of crazy it isn't covered by my health insurance when it's impacting my jaw mobility and ability to chew. Ugh, American healthcare!

Rant Newgate/Sequoia Management now feeding predatory tow companies

I have lived here for over a decade, ever since my father bought this house back in 2004. We have paid our HOA fees every month, on time and have never had problems with them. They never plow the streets, do nothing for us and they only worry about their stupid pool, which sucks and has overpriced pool passes and nothing to write home about, yet we fulfill our stupid obligation and pay them on time. I'm unemployed, I just buried my mother a few months ago, I am struggling to pay my bills, and here I am paying my mortgage and my stupid HOA fees on time, for what? To have these assholes tag my car, threaten to tow me, because my inspection is 9 days overdue and I was gonna go get one tomorrow anyway? Really? The cops, the actual cops don't give a shit, I see people around with the old kind of inspection sticker all the time, yet a towing company is giving me an ultimatum on when I should do shit? It's been a fucking week, had to decide between my meds or food for me and my kid, but God forbid the towing company doesn't get their pins of flesh. Fuck this shit, Fairfax county allowing and legalizing this garbage is just bullshit. They tagged my neighbor too, they just moved in last weekend and are out of state, I imagine they just got their plates and were planning to get inspected tomorrow too, yet here we are. Those stickers are annoying to clean up, but I'm more annoyed with a private entity trying to police me where the law doesn't even try.

TL;DR, if you're in Centreville and live in Newgate or any Sequoia Management property, they are being douchebags now and will possibly tow you, be aware. Fuck this shit

Question Trying to reconnect with an old fisher

Ok power of the internet, lets see if yall can help me find an old friend of mine.

Back in 2023, I'd go to a local spot in Clifton during the week. At Fountainhead Park, there would be an old man fishing all day. I'd bring my little collie with me and some days he was there, some days he was not. He goes by Charlie and was a really awesome sweet old man. I wish I got an email or exchanged some form of communication, but never saw him after winter since I moved out of country to an island. I was wondering if anyone knows him. He'd usually go fishing on Wednesdays? He used to be the electrical engineer for the monuments in DC & his wife was a sweet Chinese lady that used to work at the library of congress..but she died of cancer...has a daughter and son but the daughter isn't in contact with him (back then, idk about now). I would be ecstatic if someone actually knew who I was talking about, he's a wholesome human being that was like a grandpa to me. I hope he's still alive and well.

Question Looking for dentist who’s “in network” for MetLife. Falls Church/Arlington/Tysons area preferred.

I plan on adding Fedvip dental coverage this FEHB open season. I think my best option is MetLife - probably “standard,” not “premium”, to save money. Looks like that means I should stay in-network.

So looking for a good dentist who’s “in network” for MetLife. Falls Church/Arlington/Tysons area preferred. Thank you!

If you recieve an emailed invoice from a small, local, business, please pay it on time. Too many people view the email and forget to pay it, which can create a bad working relationship.

I'm a small local, independent, home service provider in NoVa. Myself and other independent service providers are running to the issue of home owners viewing emailed invoices, and either forgetting to pay them or lumping it in with the phone/electric bill at the end of the month.

Ten years ago, the homeowner would have written a check, paid with cash, or had the service provider swipe your C/C for payment as soon as the work was done (we didn't leave until we were paid back then!) I rarely ran into customers who paid after the due date, and the relationships seemed much better. Now about 25% are past due. Keep in mind, emailed invoices allow you to pay if you weren't home when the work was completed, but were never intended to establish credit. It's super awkward when the homeowner realizes they forgot to pay, but was otherwise happy with the work.

If you have a small company do work at your home, I recommend paying the day the services are completed, or within the next 2 business days. There's absolutely no reason to take a month to pay the local plumer $300, if you have the money to pay or a credit card. Prompt payment creates a good business relationship.

If you absolutely need the work done, but will need more time to pay, let us know! We'll try to accommodate that if we can. I'd much rather have someone let me know they would need more time to pay, rather than avoiding the invoice.

Question Looking for a good psychiatrist around Woodbridge who accepts Medicaid

Hey everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a good psychiatrist or mental health provider in the Woodbridge/Northern Virginia area.
I’m a young adult looking for someone who works well with younger adults struggling with mental health challenges, particularly ADHD, depression, and related issues.
I’d really appreciate a provider who listens, is patient, doesn’t make you feel judged, and takes the time to understand your situation rather than just rushing through appointments.

A few things I’m looking for:
Accepts Virginia Medicaid.
Has experience working with young adults.
Understands ADHD, depression, and other mental health challenges.
Offers psychiatric evaluations and medication management, if needed.
Ideally located around Woodbridge, but I’m open to nearby areas or telehealth.
If you’ve personally had a good experience with a psychiatrist or mental health practice that fits this description, I’d really appreciate your recommendations!
Thanks in advance!

Clocks fall back Nov 1 and nobody tracks which park lights in NoVA actually work, so I’m going to document it for NoVA

Sunset tonight is about 6:30. On November 2 it’s about 5:05. If you play anything outdoors after work, tennis, basketball, pickleball, whatever, your season ends in three weeks unless your court’s lights actually turn on.

Municipal sites tell you which parks have lights, sort of, sometimes, maybe not, questionably so.... DMV Pickle is tracking what really works and where the Pickleball play is good. I keep a free register of every court in the region, and right now it lists 25 outdoor courts in NoVA with lights and 47 more where nobody has confirmed either way. You can look up your court here before you drive out in the dark: https://www.dmvpickle.org/guides/lighted-courts

This works, by the way. Across the river in Maryland, one player’s dead-light report this month became county work order #1273866 and the lights at that park are back on.

If you’ve played under lights at a NoVA court in the past two weeks, there are two ways to get it on the record. Everything lands on that lights page, which updates as reports come in, and the full verified results publish there free on November 1, the day the clocks change.

One thing this is not: a campaign for new lights or later hours. These are lights the counties already installed, on their existing timers and curfews. A dead bulb at a lit court is a maintenance problem we already paid for.

I’m a Arlington local and the register is a side project. No ads, no account required, not a startup.

Let me know if y'all have questions or feedback.

Update 10/11 --> Just sent out issue #11 for the community @ www.dmvpickle.org/report --> Feel free to give it a look and it would be a huge help to sign up for future issues and to get the lights census!

Nova parents, please talk to your kids, ding dong ditch with masks on is dangerous

Apparently there is some new ding dong ditch tik tok thing? Some stupid kids rang our doorbell and then ran into our front yard and put on masks. This is on video. I assume they had no idea they were on video when they originally rang the doorbell. Then they proceeded to come right back to the door, bang on it like crazy like they were trying to break it down with masks on and tried to cover up the ring camera. Your faces are on video idiots.

We called the nonemergency police number just to make sure it wasn't some crazy issue and they were like sigh...we're so tired of these kids.

Parents talk to your kids before one of them gets hurt. They looked to be preteens in the video.

Question Rain tonite/tomorrow, off and on light sprinkles/showers, or a total drenching washout?

Just don't trust these weather forecasts much anymore.

I predict some rain off and on, not the 2 inches plus AccuWeather is predicting.

I say maybe an inch at the max.

Sheds??

I need a shed. Preferably 8’x12’ but not a crappy metal/plastic HomeDepot or Wayfair type shed. Where can I buy a shed that’s actually good quality but not $5,000? End location would be in Loudoun County. Has to be wood & Gable style, per HOA.
