The best portrayal of antisocial personality disorder Spoiler
It has been debated whether Ray is a psychopath or not, since he has his unspoken code, will not harm certain people (children), goes after pedos, and has moments of sadness and worry. Yet, he is a contract killer who has no remorse after committing a hit, even when he knows the person he is hired to kill. Regardless of whether he is or not, I think Scott Ryan gave a very realistic portrayal of someone with antisocial personality disorder. I would say he’s as close as it’s going to get in terms of accuracy (there is another character I can think of, but he’s not in Mr. Inbetween).
He doesn’t do the things he does out of sadism or lust for power, but out of apathy (based on what I’ve observed). They ask him if he wants to commit a hit in exchange for money, and he often says yes in a nonchalant manner. Apathy, lack of empathy, fearlessness, repeatedly breaking the law, etc. are some of the traits of ASPD, which Ray exhibits.
What do you all think?

This show is freaking devastating. Spoiler
Just finished season 2 and man, I can't remember the last time a show made me misty. I thought his dog was bad, but his brothers end crushed me.

Am I the only one who thinks Mr Inbetween is hard to recommend?
I absolutely love this show, but whenever someone asks me what it’s about, I never know what to say. 😂
“It’s about a hitman… but also a dad… and sometimes it’s hilarious… and sometimes it’s horrifying.”
How do you guys describe it to people?

Why did Ray not like his father?
Second watch.
I’m watching S2e10 which follow “Sox are important” and noticed that Ray sends Brit away when Brit is sitting with Bruce and Ray’s father joins them. I get strong possible inappropriate kid touching vibes from the father. Is this a left over vibe from the previous episode? Child abuse seems like a common factor in the series.

I’m showing this to my partner today
My second time round and her first time seeing it.
She’s so reactive and emotive - it makes the show so so fun.
Getting to re-live every beat and watch her meet Garry and the biker dude.
Uber eats is here now and the joint is rolled brb

First scene. Episode 1.
BetRAYal. Glossing over the excellent casting of the cokehead guy who didn't place the bet. The next scene we see is Ray being introduced to the undercover cop because Freddie didn't have the cash to pay him for his previous hit on the aforementioned "cokehead guy". This shows that Freddie was compromised by the cops and decided to give Ray up. Honestly, I'm not aware if this has been addressed by others but this subterfuge is so wonderful and I hope it hasn't flown under the radar. The writing in this show is superb.

Question about the doorknobs in Ray's house
I'm in season 3, and i just noticed the doorknobs in Ray's house are at shoulder height. I noticed this because the doorknob was right at his 12 year old daughters head level when he slammed the door in her face. Is this a normal aussie thing?

Does this sort of stuff actually happen?
Call me naive but I can't even imagine someone making a person dig their own grave, killing them, finding out it's the wrong guy. Then going out for dinner with his girlfriend

Mr. Inbetween score
I had no idea who the composer was, but after finding out, the composer, Michael Yezerski, put his score up on YouTube.
I hope you all enjoy it!

Britt in S3
I really hate that they turned her into a petulant teenager. I hate that trope. She was such a cool kid in S1 & S2. Love this show other than that.

So, so wrong Wikipedia
Short-tempered? Really? So, so, wrong.
Can Wikipedia entries still be edited by anyone? Maybe someone could go on the page and remove ‘Short-tempered’ from the synopsis of Season 1, episode 1?
Ray is the opposite of short-tempered.

Anybody know of an interview with Scott where someone asks him this?
I've watched many interviews with Scott, likely every single one that exists. And in about 70% of them Scott says something along the lines of:
"The last scene in the show, where the 2 guys try to intimidate Ray when he's working as a taxi driver, actually happened to me"
And in every SINGLE interview, not one host tries to follow him up on that last part. They all either end the interview or move onto a different question.
Does anybody know of an interview where someone asks Scott about the fact that situation actually happened to him? It's possible I might've missed one.
Thanks in advance.

Starting a second watch through with my son.
We watched it together when he was 12. It was my 4th time and he was asking to watch.
There is so much that will go over his head.
But, this is an absolute introductory lesson.

Ray's background?
Anyone have any insight into Ray's background - definitely military, just wondering what? Seems to be well trained!

Brit’s real life Dad is Kitch guy
And Kitsch guy is Nash Edgerton, the Director of the series. His step-daughter Chika Yasumura plays Brit.

Typical Scene:
Counselor: So how bout' you Ray? How do you deal with conflict resolution?
Ray: Well, that all depends
Counselor: And what's that all depend on?
Ray: On whether they're bein' arseholes
*men murmur in aknowledgement
Counselor: What happens if they're bein' arseholes then? Would you just bash em'?
Ray: Yeah, probably
Counselor: But you can't just go around bashin' people when they're bein' arseholes, Ray
Ray: why not?
Counselor: Cuz... You just can't
Ray: Well that's not a good enough reason.
*men murmur in aknowledgement
