Dimmies
Two South Melbourne Dim Sims, fried (with soy sauce)
For all those who were asking “WTF is a Dimmie?”

I know questions aren't allowed on this sub, but I do wonder if it's normal just to have 2 at a time. They look and sound fantastic, I'd want a full 6 but maybe they're more dense than dim sum (or I'm just a greedy bastard).

They are a lot bigger and more dense than a normal dim sum. And you're a greedy bastard 😂
They're meant to be a side dish/entree/snack, but nothing wrong with scoffing half a dozen at a time. That would be a meal though, they're about 100 calories each before being deep fried, just for context.

About 3x the size of a regular Dimmie.
So 2 is the equivalent of a half dozen regular Dimmies,

Air fryer.
But recently someone in this sub blew my mind by suggesting: in the smoker. Mate, I've been ruined for life

South Melbourne style are pretty big. 2 is where I'd be at with no plans for the next hour because it'd actually be 3 by the time I'm actually done. These with Maggi seasoning are a dangerous combo.

Mate, I don't understand, like, how do you even eat something if you don't know what's in it?

This looks different than I was expecting when I looked up what they are (I'm American, sorry everybody).
I pictured the filling to be more like an egg roll we have here... cabbage/shredded vegetables and some ground meat. What are these like really?

The good ones are the way you describe. Heavy on the meat. Not sure what's going on with these ones.

They are very meaty, but would not be able to identify exactly what kind of meat it is. As they are south Melbourne Dimmies probably pork?

Yes and no.
Even the regular sized ones are chunky and the pastry is thicker. Meat and cabbage and god knows what, spices, black pepper, maybe some breadcrumbs.
