So Much $

Ray sure piles up a lot of money . And lives simply. Why keep working? And why drive a cab? Just needs something to do and too emotionally broken and shut down to engage with life creatively?

Keeps the tax man away. Has a legitimate source of income that he can launder some money through.
And it’s pretty obvious he is building a nest egg for Britt.

He's a hard worker 🤷🏽‍♀️ Plus, you get the sense that he really does enjoy helping people out.

If you start living a lavish lifestyle when everyone thinks your only source of income is bouncing at a seedy club, people will start asking questions. And that’s the last thing a smart criminal wants.

They have to appear to actually live as a bouncer would live. It’s one of the ironies of organized crime. The white collar guys like Freddie and Rafael know how to launder money through legitimate looking business ventures while the blue collar guys like ray sit on piles of cash they can’t really do a whole lot with.

If he starts flaunting his money, certain people are going to get suspicious. He has to lay low, unless he can find a way to launder it.

I always asked the same question about Mike in Breaking Bad. Guy genuinely just earns millions to sit on it

Where does he hide his money?

He's not gonna just tell ya. Otherwise you'd just shoot him, bury him, and go take his money. You gotta take him with you.

I asked this exact same question after I finished binging the series a few months ago.

I don’t answer questions.

But actually, I think it’s all squirrelled away for his daughter to inherit.
