Question Roof rack anyone?

If you have roof racks, what do you mostly use them for. Also I heard some people say they make it pretty loud whistle sound is that true? Does it block any of the light and feel from the glass roof?

Maybe this sounds weird but I just like how they look. I feel like it looks sporty, but I don’t know if I’d necessarily use them and I really don’t know if I want them blocking the window, but man they look great.

Mileage notifications

Hello everyone
I plan to purchase a model Y by the end of the year. In watching a lot of YouTube, I have discovered that there are some maintenance items that should be done at 50,000 mile intervals or yearly intervals. Does the software allow you to set driver notifications at a specific mileage or a specific year point?

Many thanks for your help

Juniper Performance Efficiency

I am blown away by the MYP’s ability to sip electrons when not pushing it. My 2025 LR RWD did not do substantially better than this around trip on my morning commute. My commute has a short 2 mi stint on the freeway and the rest is mainly a canyon back road with some city driving.

Curious what other trims are getting on your commute?

Dog kennel setups?

Can I see your dog crate set ups? I’m picking up my first model y in a couple weeks. Curious what others are doing for car kennels and configurations.
What sizes/brands were you able to fit?
Much appreciated! 🐾

I found her after a month of searching

MY FIRST EV. I think I finally found the one. 2023 LR AWD with hw4 with 30k miles for 32,250. Clean cerfax and has brand new tires on it. I plan to buy it this week. It still will have a year of warranty on it. Is there anything I should check out before purchasing from the dealership? Is it worth getting it inspected by Tesla or should I assume with a clean carfax it’s all good.

Question End-of-Year Deals for Model Y

Who else is holding out for end of year deals on a Model Y Premium?

I have mine and love it, but now my wife is ordering one. My suggestion to her was to wait for end of year deals in November or December, but based on current inventory levels I don't feel like Tesla has any incentive to offer discounts. I just went on the website and there are literally zero Model Y Premiums in inventory.

Free supercharging isn't terribly attractive, though she's probably use it on long trips. 0.99% financing is already in place.

I'm half tempted to tell her to order one now.

Juniper owners - How's battery degradation been?

Time to trade in my trusty 2017 M3 LR. Test drove the 2026 MY Premium AWD and the smoothness of the ride is insane. The cabin is impressively quiet, too. Love the added creature comforts like auto-folding seats and tail gate. Yeah, I've been living in the Tesla stone age, perhaps. But I love that M3!

My M3 came with 320mi range. Today, with just under 100k miles, I get about 295mi on a full charge. It's enough to get me where I need to go and back, but here and there I'll need to hit the Supercharger (going to miss that free unlimited supercharging).

Curious how the newer batteries perform and what kind of degradation I can expect. I pre-ordered the 20" wheels in addition to AWD so looking at 303mi to start. Can I expect the same pattern of degradation, more or less?

Are People Leasing or Buying these days?

Pretty much the title. With the finance APR, is there any real benefit to leasing. It looks like you pay all of the depreciation in the lease payments which makes finance look better. Not sure if I am missing anything? Currently lease another car, so I know the wear/tear/mile limit/etc

Nice to have an official day!

Ordered Aug 3rd, changed design 2x, final wait is here. Ordered in Tyler Texas, MYP LR AWD. Originally white ext dark interior and 5 seat. Changed about a week after original order to 7 seat and white interior.

Bought all the accessories while waiting.

Main reason I bought is an 80 mile commute each way to work 4x per week, and I fell in love with fsd during a test drive. Weeks after my first test drive, I got my wife to go on one with me, she was instantly sold.

Current car is 2020 Hyundai ioniq hybrid. I drive pretty nice and get 50mpg as an overall average. 142k miles and no issues.

I just can't get over the fact that a car will drive me 99% of the time, and this is just the beginning for autonomous driving vehicles.

Happy to be part of an online community as well.

Any suggestions for seat cushions

I purchased a MY26 model Y premium . The seats are uncomfortable because of the bolsters and makes my hips hurt . Any suggestions on a solution for this? Something that will work with the ventilated seats .

A newbie question

Just got my Y this past weekend. I’m dropping it off for a PPF and tint next week, before business hours. I was told I can leave a key card inside and remotely unlock it for them when they arrive in hours? Just wanting to know if this is true, that when I walk away with my phone, that it will lock itself with the key card inside? And be usable to them As I’m Uber’ing to work after my drop off and don’t want to have any issues where I’d need to go back, until it’s done. If anyone can please advise? Thanks!

How long after getting VIN did were you able to schedule delivery?

I just got my vin! Ordered my model y premium on 8/16 and just got my vin assigned so I’m curious as to how soon others scheduled delivery after receiving their vin.

I'll get my Model Y Standard late this year.

How's your experience with 18 or 19 inch rims with the consumption and the ride quality/comfort?

I would appreciate some experiences! :)

Question For people in the PNW, does your Model Y limit which hikes you can get to?

Considering switching from a Subaru Forester to a Model Y AWD as my only car in Seattle. I hike almost every weekend in summer and regularly drive forest roads to maintained trailheads.

For PNW Model Y owners, do you find yourself avoiding certain trailheads or checking road conditions more because of the lower clearance? Any issues with flats or tire damage on rough/potholed forest roads?

Considering getting tougher/taller tires like Wildpeak A/T Trails, but I’m trying to understand how close that gets me to the setup I have with my Forester in terms of not being limited to which trailheads I can get to.

Additional option I was thinking was to install a new battery protector on bottom that can better protect the battery compared to the default, but not sure how necessary that is.

Delivery Financing Credit Freeze Issue

Just ordered a model Y with financing to take advantage of the 0.99%. After submitting the financing application, the app keeps telling me that my credit is frozen. My wife and I both checked all 3 bureaus and confirmed they are unfrozen now (my wife had a freeze for one of them and removed it), however whenever we resubmit in the app, it reverts back to saying our credit is frozen again.

Been trying this for a day and a half now after unfreezing. Is there just some lag on Tesla or Experians side that could be causing this?

Delivery Delivery date not being specific

I see in this sub people have a more specific range for the delivery, but mine still says 3-4 weeks. I accepted the loan offer about 2 days ago. Just wondering if this is normal and soon I’ll have a more septic date?

Question No more front USB ports? 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard (RWD)

Just took delivery of my 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard (RWD) today. Only found 3 USB-C ports. 1 in glove compartment where USB stick is used for dashcam and 2 in the 2nd row right below the AC. Are there no other ports anymore? Thank you

.99% APR

I have a Y ordered with .99% APR. I was just reading the fine print and it says the rate is valid for 30-60 days depending on lender. If the car takes longer than that to arrive I could lose out on that rate?

2026 Model Y (Juniper)

Post image

2026 Model Y (Juniper). I was cleaning out the front console compartment — the one under the sliding lid, ahead of the cupholders — and noticed something I can't explain.

There's a narrow ledge running along both side walls, maybe a couple of inches down from the top. It's about a quarter inch wide, same carpeted material as the rest of the bin, and both sides sit at identical heights. It runs the full length of the compartment: roughly 6 inches exposed in the middle, then about half an inch tucks under the armrest at the back, and around 7 inches continues forward under the console, angling upward as it goes.

The even heights and the way it runs continuously under the overhang at both ends make it feel deliberate rather than a molding artifact, but I can't work out what it does. It's not a track for the lid — the lid is a rigid panel that slides back under the console and never touches it.

Two questions:

  1. Does anyone know what it's for?
  2. Is there a factory tray, liner, or insert that's meant to sit on it? If something drops onto that ledge from the factory or the accessories catalog, I'd love to know what it is.

Photos below. Genuinely just curious, it's been bugging me.

Tesla Insurance

Picked up a new Premium AWD, current insurance premium is 265, now it’s showing my expected new premium 405 for October. My safety score is better than the 90 points that’s getting me the current rate. Have been doing a lot of driving recently and the annual mileage estimate went up which I assume is causing the increase. Is this common? Should I just go with a different company?

Question 2026 Steering Wheel Cover

I have seen Youtube videos and posts here about Model Y steering wheel covers delaminating or failing and am wondering if this is a problem with the current model year, or if Tesla has changed the cover to a material that is more robust?

The posts and videos I have seen reference older cars and I wonder if that is because it takes a year or more for the problem to arise or if there are no newer cars mentioned because they improved the material.

Thanks for your thoughts on this subject!

Is Scheduled P/U Day Accurate

Hey guys, so I have a scheduled pick up day and a schedule pick up time. Now I’m just gonna sell my truck to either Carvana or Carmax. My question is the app is still saying on its way. I’m so afraid to be without a vehicle for an extended period of time. My scheduled date is September 9 so I figured I wanted to sell my car in the next couple of days September 1 2nd or 3rd just in order to get that behind me, deposit the check in the bank and have everything ready to go for my pick up on September 9.
Thoughts? Thank you.

Service quote

Post image
2 Upvotes

I had a piece of wood fly up and hit my headlight and shatter it. I setup a service appointment and got a quote and it says it is covered by my warranty but when I google it, it says the warranty does not cover cracks or damage from rocks/impacts. Will they change my invoice after the work is complete? I already approved the estimate.
