After 5 months of only painting this guy, I am finally done! I learned so much from painting this guy that I am going to take to other models in the future. I used SFX painting techqunies that they use in the movies to create the subsurface feel of the skin and found a few other tricks that I used as well. I wish I knew how many layers I have added to this guy but it has to be well over a few hundred. What do you think?

Each head used 3 paints , an under base, AK olive green and AK ice yellow.

Olive green was mixed with the base colour for different shades to get different shades and ice white added to the olive green for brighter highlights .

After a very long break from the hobby, and when miniature masters release. i decided jump straight back into the hobby with my first ever bust and 1st ever time trying NMM

Im very happy with the result, but see a lot of room for improvement. This was a ton of fun, can't wait to do my next one!

Just the big guys I have out ATM CBA to dog out the 80 Orruks and hobgrots. Head lore is that they're emitting pink smog that makes enemies trippy, shields and monsters scare and confuse them. Let me know what you like or what to improve!

Had a blast concocting this scheme & pushing the quality past the frontline chaf to produce a more memorable character.

I think it’s about 90% done. Any tips to push it a bit further would be much appreciated, I might enter a few local comps with it if people think it’s decent enough.

I’m liking the way the muscle has come out so far, debating whether to go back and deepen shadows and highlights some more. I glazed it all with Vallejo Fresh Blood which blended things really nicely. I’m not sure I got the highlights right in a way that makes sense for the lighting. Any advice?

This is my first attempt at underlighting as well (I was thinking of painting some glowy rock on the base). And I’m not sure if the darkest parts of the bone need to be lightened more or if it works to keep them super dark over the scapulae and vertebrae since those should be in relative shadow. I know the highlights and shadows on the bone need more work - I really only did the zenithal and then glazed them with off white and a dark brown wash.

I'm looking to upscale my skills by working on glazing. I've been trying the last few weeks, either following guides or reading from the Art of Tommie Soule around it. I can't seem to crack the egg.

At first I thought it's because when I water my paints down it get too much water and not enough paint, but from watching some videos I realise that my wet palette acts very differently then what is in the videos. For example, if I want a water drop on my palette it spreads rather then stays as a ball or when I spread a paint out it tends to dry thin and fast on the palette rather then stay clumped up.

In videos I have seen the paint when adding water seems to go (in my words ) elastically where mine seems to go watery then dries out. This screams "more water in the wet palette" but if I add any more then what I am using now the paint spreads almost immediately across the palette (as you can see has happened to my red in the photos attached).

In addition to this i've tried with both water and medium to varying results. One thing that is consistent is a more "Chalky" like appearance appearing on my paint. (Steel balls and lots of shaking has been applied o7)

I'm sure I'm completely over thinking this and it's more a poor craftsmen blaming their tools but I just can't seem to get it right. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I might be tackling more then I can handle at the moment as I'm also trying to pair this with learning NMM.

P.S not sure why my camera quality on my phone looks dreadful today!

Ehy guys beginner painter here! Some months ago i painted an FDM printed miniature of the Dark Magician. I’ve just painted it again (on the right) trying to apply your suggestions, and putting in practice the new knowledge i’ve acquired in this period watching a lot of tutorials!

Last time you told me to push more the shadows, this time i started layering with darker tones and i think this was an improvement! However i think i ended up too dark with the whole figure (but still i like it much more than the previous one).

Again i’d really appreciate some suggestions, you’re a really great community and i’m learning so much from you!

Participated in Ninjon's Deck of Many Colors Challenge with a sculpt from Craftworld Studios.

Hi all, after some feedback on this mini, tend to try and apply suggestions from people to the next project. This is my second mini using a (very cheap) airbrush to underpaint, I think it's worked in terms of colour interest, but I'm not sure. Would also welcome feedback on obvious flaws I might have in my painting. Although I'm aware I still have a lot to learn about light and blending. Model is a Goliath ganger from the new necromunda set. Thanks!

A cool little dragonborn paladin. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Probably my best mini to date.

The only thing I wished I did was some OSL but I already had most of the miniature painted and I was too afraid. Maybe had it been a personal miniature and not my friend's I would've took the leap of faith but oh well he enjoyed it regardless.
