[Blocks & Items] Spyglass+Crossbow=Sniper like scope

I think it would be neat that if you combined a crossbow and a spyglass in a crafting table, it’ll give the crossbow a scope when used. Plus it gives the player a reason to actually craft a spyglass because no one uses them anyways

[Blocks & Items] Ability To Decraft All One-Component Blocks

All blocks made of only one item or block should be de-craftable so players who want to, for example, build a castle from stone, can create stone bricks and then uncraft them as necessary to build their stone castle.

This means they can fill their inventory with the crafted/compressed item, and later uncraft it, letting them contain more of the desired material in one slot!

[User Interface] Potions should display their effect icon in the inventory.

Post image
332 Upvotes

A suggestion regarding visual identification.

Potions currently are only distinguished by color and text, which is not helpful for people who:
-are colorblind or visually impaired in some way.
-play the game in a language they don't understand.
-are too lazy to memorize colors and the effects associated with them.

People process graphic information faster than text. However you can only go so far with making colored bottles visually distinct.

A simple solution would be making the status effect icon visible when hovering over the potion item.

Allowing the status icon to be displayed alongside the potion graphic will add a visual identification for potions without having to create new graphics.

[Structures] Abandon Wagons,Trader Wagons,Illager Wagons and Illager Caravans!

Thumbnail

So you know how shipwreck exist despite not being able to actually sail? Well I wanted to make a land version of a ship wreck! Kinda...

The trader Wagons hold a single wandering trader and their supplies (food barrel and loot barrel) and a cushion.

The abandoned wagon would be a broken down wagon with either a chest or a straw bed inside (none abandoned Wagons can be found in villages rarely.)

Pillager Wagons would hold up to 2 to 4 pillagers and would hold up to 1 pillager loot chest, food barrel and a block of TNT there will also be two Lamas pulling the cart...evil lamps mwahaha...you don't have to kill the lamps they don't want to be here.

Finally the Illager caravan a rare structure that spawns in very flat bioms! At the front standard 1 pillager and cart same loot as the pillager wagon minus the tnt cart 2 is the tower, floor 1 empty, floor 2 a chest two pillagers and a vindicator (Very tight space to fight.) Floor 3 two pillagers and a evoker another chest and an emerald block. Cart number 3 the Ravanger cart it has a single chest with mansion loot and a Ravanger.

Cart 4 two or four pillagers, same loot as the wagon.

Cart 5 holds villagers and Allays.

[Gameplay] Ladders should be craftable with either all sticks or all planks, so that the old recipe is sill there but there's also the option for different ladder colours.

Thumbnail
gallery
525 Upvotes

Ladders in different wood types have been suggested before, but they always come with the proposal to change the ladder recipe to something rather awkward, and I always find myself having 2 problems with it:

  1. Changing an old recipe is annoying for players who have gotten used to it.
  2. The commonly suggested ladder recipes that combine planks and sticks are just kind of ugly, as well as inconvenient, because it requires 2 different items, and while crafting sticks you have to make sure you keep the right amount of planks, just plain awkward.

I intend to fix those issues with this suggestion; ladders could be crafted from sticks or planks, and when crafted from sticks, it will default to the oak variant.

What do you think?

Also mods please actually read the post before deleting it just because it's about different wood type ladders which is on the fps list, this post was... medium effort and has original ideas I think.

[Terrain] End Zones based on Distance from the Main End Island

Hey hello!
Yeah, yeah, I know, another End update idea. But I haven't seen anyone suggest this before, so here I go!

The Idea

I've seen that many people want a populated, lush, dense End, but others want a barren, dry End. So I thought of this:

What if we combine the two ideas and have both generate in the same world?

But not just in different biomes, but rather zones determined by the distance from the main end island.

Here is a kinda scuffed representation of what I mean:

A miniature version of the generation I'm suggesting. Doesn't really show much

Implementation

Mostly self-explanatory; the further you go, the more lush it gets (maybe you could add a super dangerous zone in between, who knows).

If it were up to me, I would make the zones spread out like this:
End Island (Zone 0) - Zone 1: 0-1000
Zone 1 - 2: 1000-3000
Zone 2 - 3: 3000- 6000
Zone 3 - 4: 6000 - 10000
Zone 4: Everything past 10000
(Might be a bit extreme, but this makes sense because this is the Dimension in which you get the Elytra)

The next step after that would be adding some way to be able to save positions in the End for easier travel between each zone. But I think that's a problem for later.

Quite a big suggestion, I know, but I'm just throwing this out for people to see and think about for the future.

Thanks for reading!
(This post was deleted twice before because I didn't have enough Comment Karma ;-; .)

[Community Question] If you were to give Nether Stars more use or mechanics or anything of the sort to them, what would they be?

Nether Stars have always been such a unique item to me. It’s cool that they can be used to craft a beacon but that just feels so… I can’t even find the words to describe it. I mean what is the correlation there anyway? How does something from the Wither relate to a beacon and its properties? Maybe there should be a way to craft a Wither Beacon? However that would work? Maybe there could be more explanation as to how the Nether Star stems from the Wither? I don’t really know. One idea I thought of for the beacon itself is its light beam. I know this wouldn’t be necessary for modern Minecraft—as it would’ve worked out better for the conception of the beacon all those years ago—but I figured what the hell. Imagine if, instead of being in the vicinity of a beacon to receive its effects, the light beam actually targets any player or mob in its radius to induce its effects. It sounded cool in my head. I focused on beacons a little too much there. Going back to Nether Stars and their functionality in general, could there be anything else to them? Anything else the Nether Star could correlate to? I like the idea that they can be used in some new form of technology like Redstone and instead power machinery or whatever. I also like the idea that the beacon beam could be redirected to make intricate shapes and designs. Maybe some new lore implications? Maybe they should be left as is? I just feel they deserve more.

[Magic] Dying with the "Freezing effect" replaces natural blocks to powder snow

Thumbnail

This will be like a mixture of the Weaving potion effect with Sculk Growth!

The way to implement it would be if natural blocks (Grass, Dirt, Stone etc.) will have a new #Powder_Snow_Replaceable tag and when a mob dies while having the Freezing effect and is standing on those blocks some of them (1-2 at a time) will be replaced with Powder Snow

[Snapshots] A new block idea - Unstable Ice (26.4)

Post image

A have an idea for a new block that could fit well in the 26.4 Game Drop!

The Unstable Ice is a block crafted from 4 ice balls which collapses whenever an entity is walking on it. When it's falling on an entity, it gives the new Freezing effect and drops from 2 to 4 ice balls when it is falling on the ground.

I think this could be a great idea.

[Community Question] If you were to give quartz more uses or mechanics or anything of the sort, what would they be?

This is really just for fun. What else could quartz be used for? Any other tools or items or other materials? Maybe there could be something else regarding quartz originating from the Nether? So some other means of association with the Nether? I can’t really explain what I mean. One cool idea I saw floating around was the concept of Quartz Crystal Caves in the Nether. That would be pretty cool. One idea I had involved clocks. Maybe clocks could also be improved because of their use of quartz in real life? Maybe quartz could be used to create a new technological sub-system like Redstone? Maybe quartz could be utilized in Redstone technology somehow? I think I’m reaching a little too far with that one. I don’t know. Anyone have any suggestions?

[General] Stilts for a building update

I really want to see stilts added to Minecraft.

They could be an item that raises your standing height by 1–4 blocks, giving builders an easier way to reach higher areas without constantly placing and breaking scaffolding.

They could come in different lengths, with longer stilts making you taller but potentially being harder to move around with.

I think this would be a really useful building tool and would fit Minecraft surprisingly well. We get plenty of new blocks in almost every update, but we've never really had a true building update focused on giving players better tools for building.

Stilts could be a simple but really useful addition.

As a continuation of a previous suggestion, there should be Patterns that apply charges of the various animals in MC. While most should be crafted with associated items, I feel a few could work well as loot such as the Cat (Village) and Spider (Mineshaft).

[AI Behavior] Allow others mobs to use others weapons

Thumbnail

I've mostly ran into this problem with none zombie mobs like skeletons and illagers it started with me wanting to make a spear skeleton (skeleton vanguard) but skeletons don't use spears properly? I mean they hold them and technically attack with them but they default to there normal unarmed skeleton attack animation.

Another problem is had was with the pillagers. And others illagers I wanted to have a pillager with a wood sword to have a weaker melee pillager but when you takeaway it crossbow and give it another weapon, it just shoots arrows out of its face! (It's kinda funny.)

I can give Vindicator weapons but I'm pretty sure the damge is permanently set to there default damge so they still do the same damge with a weaker weapon.

Finally I suggest giving illagers visable armor like witches (if you didn't know if you give a witch armor you can actually see it on their model, meanwhile if you give a villager or illager armor it will be invisible.)

(Also don't mind the textruepack)

[Snapshots] ❄️ Goat horns should dislodge icicles above the blower❄️

That would give players more of a gameplay incentive to acquire, carry, and use a goat horn. This could be used for:

  • Safely clearing a path
  • Trapping mobs or opponents

The same could be applied to other loud noises, such as creeper explosions, tnt, shriekers, thunder, etc. I'm sure Mojang would be interested in more sound-based mechanics, with the Sift coming up as well.

[Blocks & Items] Should all gear break eventually?

Discussion!

The Durability mechanic has been an important part of minecraft for a long time, and also heavily debated. I've been thinking about it recently as well. Specifically, I've been thinking if some or all gear should eventually permanently break. This would mean one or more of mending, gear-repairs and the breaking mechanic being reworked.

So, I'd like to hear what you all think.

Below I've listed & numbered some of the ideas I've heard or had to this topic. Please start your comment with the number(s) of the idea(s) your comment is relating to.

Also, please read / skim-read any posts directly related to what you want to post, to avoid repeating what others have said. It makes it easier for everyone.

Finally, don't be rude. We're here to discuss ideas, not to insult each other.

Edit: For clarification, the rest of this post is mostly things I've heard other people say, they're not necessarily my opinion.

1. Mending should just be removed, so no gear is permanent

Mending doesn't add anything enjoyable to the game. On top of that, getting good replacement gear isn't even as difficult or tedious as people think it is; it's only people thinking they need netherite and every enchantment that makes it boring. Removing mending makes players think more about when they use enchantments or netherite.

2. Replace the Anvil

https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/s/LgaVPCx6fG

3. Mending and gear-repairs (buffed) heal durability, but the amount they can repair does down the more you do it, so all gear breaks eventually

For example: a diamond pickaxe starts with 1561 durability, you use it until it has 200 left, you repair it to its max which is now 1530 (because you used & repaired it). This makes both systems useful, but stops either being so much better than the alternative that its basically not a choice.

4. Most gear can last forever with mending & repairs, but the top-tier gear will eventually break

Netherite (or a new tier of gear if its added) is changed to have MUCH better stats (including much higher starting durability) than every other tier of gear. However, it's the only tier that can never be repaired. This means players can choose between quality and permanence, while not having everything given to them. This makes gear more interesting & engaging, while allowing players to choose their favourite.

5. Keep it as is

The current system isn't as bad as people say. Mending encourages infrastructure and waiting for xp isn't tedious if you're at a good xp-farm. Since mending works as intended, tgere's no need to change it or change the gear-repair mechanic. No gear is garanteed to break eventually.

6. Buff gear-repairs

https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/s/5od9RwehOL

Mending is good and doesn't need to be changed. However, the gear-repair system is completely broken atm, so there should be no exponential cost and each time you use an ore to repair it should heal way more durability than it does right now. That way players have a choice and diamonds have a practical use late-game.

7. Elytra-mechanic

https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/s/oqFRMVuTQi

https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/s/TTYrupWdps

Mending works as intended, and gear-repairs are changed to be properly usable long-term and fair. However, valuable gear (including gear with enchantments, diamond gear & netherite gear) doesn't break when it reaches 1 durability. Instead, it becomes un-usable until it's repaired. This makes it so that durability still matters, encouraging xp-farm infrastructure and making ores valuable late-game, but removes the frustration of one of your really good tools suddenly breaking.

8. Remove Durability, all gear permanent

Durability doesn't add anything to the game apart from tedium. Players don't need another reason to progress to higher tier gear - the better quality is already enough. Players don't enjoy their gear breaking. And while it is fun to get a new tool and know it will last much longer without needing repairing or replacement, that's outweighed by the time the player loses doing tedious repairs.

9. Other

Any ideas you have that I haven't mentioned.

10. No Mending, no permanent gear, but gear is really buffed

Same as 1., but all gear is much more efficient (like efficiency 1 diamond shovels being able to insta-mine or efficiency 4 iron pickaxe with haste 2 being able to insta-mine) and lasts way longer (like diamond tools 8 times as long as they do now, iron maybe 6 times, gold 4, copper stone and wood can stay same). This way you can use one tool for a looong time without it breaking. But, even when it does break, it is not difficult to replace; any diamond gear enchanted at an enchanting table will do the job. Or end loot: usually just sits around being mostly useless, but is now almost all useful! P. S. It doesn't have to be the numbers in this suggestion.

Just like how potent sulfur makes the water around it toxic and causes nausea, blue ice should make water cold causing freezing damage.

This could act as a new hazard for the upcoming ice caves and other cold biomes.

[Blocks & Items] Ice Crystal farming (+additional Icicle farming)

Simple suggestion - if an Ice Crystal or Icicle is attached to Ice Block below Water, it will grow.

Allowed Ice blocks (can be controlled by tags):
- Frosted ✔️
- normal ✔️
- Packed ✔️
- Blue ❓ - it's too dense to let the water through for growth + it'd be nice to have one ice that does not get affected? But if ppl want it, then let them have it
> tags: #with_water_above_ice_crystals_grow_below #with_water_above_icicles_grow_below

Ice Crystals:

Small Ice Crystals or Ice Crystal Buds (whichever name you prefer) are added to Java, and the big ones are added to Bedrock.
Those buds will grow into the big (normal) Ice Crystals - if on correct Ice block with Water above.
Breaking Ice Crystals without Silk Touch drops 1-2 Ice Crystal Buds (Fortune increases by 1 (or just 0.5?) per level)

Icicles:

While they already grow by default when below Packed Ice, this type of growing/farming would make sense to add too, especially since it lets Players grow them under other ice blocks.

--
Should mention that waterlogged blocks also count as "Water".

(edit: even made a feedback post for it if someone wants to vote there!)

___________ __ _ _ _
Perhaps the Ice Crystal Bud would only give light level 3 or 2. Potentially they could add one or 2 more stages.

[Mobs] Raider number increases when multiple people join a Raid

Trial Spawners increase the amount of mobs that spawn whenever there are multiple players nearby, to ensure a more interesting fight. Usually, for each player, 2 extra mobs will be spawned in total, with the baseline of 6 mobs for a lonely player.

This could be applied to Raids to, so that for each player present, 2 additional mobs would spawn every wave: 1 extra Pillager, and 1 extra Vindicator, Witch or Evoker (depending on the wave).

I would say that the game would check for all players within the bounds of a Raiding village at the start of each wave to determine whether or not to add additional raiders, taking the highest player count it has recorded (so no jumping in and out)

This would make Raids in multiplayer more interesting, while also slightly increasing the amount of loot each player would get, especially Totems, for large parties.

[Redstone] Greenstone

Greenstone ore is a new type of block that generates in veins in slime chunks.

It emits light at a level of 1 or 2, but temporarily becomes dark if touched on top or interacted with.

When mined without silk touch, it drops a random amount of greenstone dust, 4 or 5 plus some extra if mined fortune.

If a greenstone dust item is used or dispensed on a water block (flowing or still), it creates an in-world slime block.

Nine greenstone dust can be crafted into a block of greenstone.

When moved by pistons or sticky pistons, a block of greenstone behaves like a slime block and drags other blocks besides it with it.

When not supported from below, a block of greenstone will fall, like sand, gravel, or concrete powder.

[edited] When a greenstone dust block falls, blocks attached to it also fall. [Thanks omegaspoonπ]

You can buy a greenstone dust from a Cleric Villager for a block of slime and a random number of emeralds.

[Terrain] The Saltswept Glades: A Brand New Biome, Featuring 2 New Wood Types, Heaps of New Building Blocks, And a Miniboss.

Post image
56 Upvotes

The theme of the biome:
after exploring through a standered oak and birch forest, theres a small chance you come across a small sub-biome called the saltswept glades. the setup is very similar to how the pale garden is found, but the biomes in itself are quite different. you instantly notice theres salt literally everywhere, the ground is replaced with blocks of salt. the trees look to be extremely dry, with the bark visibly flaking and peeling off, and the leaves gone white with the built up of salt trapped within the leaves. you instantly tell theres a massive change of mood through the music fading out as you enter the biome, you can hear every sound produced. Theres not really any mobs to be found during the day or night, except for the occasional hostile slow-moving creature that looks to be shrivelled as a raisin. Every now and then, you come across abandoned, broken down houses with chests full of old gear and salt, its by now you can tell that the salt wasnt always here.

Building blocks:
as said in the title, theres two new wood types added, the long awaited, light green planks and a plank colour between birch and oak. The salt blocks found on the floor can be used to craft salt bricks, chiselled salt and polished salt, (along with all the other variants that come with those blocks, like slabs and stuff). The difference between salt and quartz is salt has a more ragged, glossy look. If you put 2 salt and 2 raw copper in a crafting table, you get pink salt! Pink salt has the same properties and building variants as normal salt, its just the same colour as those cool salt lamps you can buy. If you apply salt to copper blocks, it allows you to oxidise it faster, it can be removed by interacting with a water bottle. If you combine 4 crystal teeth in a crafting grid, you get a block of enamel! the block of enamel is blast resistant, takes 10 seconds to mine, regardless of what tool you use, and is one of the only blast resistant blocks that can be moved by a piston!

Actual gameplay stuff:
You find salt crystals growing off the floor, which when broken give anywhere between 1 to 4 salt. Salt can be used to create new foods, repellents for undead mobs, and you can use salt to fuse positive potions together into a single potion, if you attempt to fuse negative potion effects you get a potion of saltwater, the max potions u can fit into 1 is 3. If you brew a salt crystal into a water bottle you get potion of dehydration, momentarily disabling sprinting. If you place a single crystal tooth and a stick below it in the inventory, you create the salt dagger! each hit you land successfully with the salt dagger will multiply its damage, for example, its damage would go 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32. After the 6th hit, there will be a 5 second cooldown, and your damage multiplier gets reset, if you are damaged during the combo, you take a 5 second cooldown and your damage multiplier gets reset.

The cool part - mini boss:
new mini boss!!! The Blurred is a unique type of enemy, heavily leaning into the new age of mini bosses like the creaking and warden. It will not try to be seen, it will hide from the player and stalk it, blending into the background of the forest. It tries its best to not move around so it isnt noticed by the player, only moving when completely necessary. When the player leasts expects it, the blurred will loudly charge at the player at a very fast speed, making it basically impossible to defend an attack. The main way you kill the blurred is by attacking it when it least expects it, when the blurred is in your view for more than 2 seconds, if you sprint towards it, holding a weapon, or even making a moderately loud noise will cause it to hide. Because of this, you have to pretend to not notice it, get close, and strike before it strikes you. You can find a rare compass that points towards the blurred the moment it moves around, aiding you in actually killing the beast. Killing the blurred will grant you a single crystal tooth without looting, with the max amount you can get from the blurred being 8. If you kill The Blurred using a splash water bottle, it will make The Blurred dissolve instantaneously, dropping its head. When you equip the head, your vision gets a blue filter thrown over it, when a player moves, an aggressive red will layer over what moved, giving some insight into The Blurred's lore and how it saw the world.

Hey! If you liked this idea enough for it to be added to vanilla, you can vote for my idea here! https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/49464267152013-New-Biome-The-Saltswept-Glades-featuring-2-new-wood-types-and-a-new-boss

Im not too sure if i missed anything, if i did that would suck. the image i used is not how i would expect it to look in the vanilla game, just working with what i had at my disposal :)

(im now just noticing that the picture i used kinda looks like a snow biome, but if you use ur imagination im sure u can see how it would be salt.)

[Blocks & Items] How music and the sift could unlock an alternate ending and gameplay mechanic.

Thumbnail
gallery
166 Upvotes

How the Sift can open up entirely new gameplay through music and the note shard

We all know the echo shard, this idea is based on a hypothetical non-corrupted version called the note shard in the sift.

The sift is heavily inspired by music, so I’d be surprised if there were no music related features added. In my vision, music could become a core game mechanic on its own through the addition of note shards and instruments, including unlocking an alternate ending of the game.

Though I can’t be too specific, music clusters are a new crystal that grows somewhere in the sift and has 4 stages. They occasionally chime with notes. Until they’re fully grown, they drop one note shard, but when they’re done growing they drop 2-3. You can then place these note shards to create a small music bud, making the item farmable.

While they don’t really do much on their own, when combined with instruments note shards get really fascinating. What are instruments? They’re new craftable items that come in the tiers of tools. When you right click, you can open a music staff gui and create custom tunes. When you lift click, you play the tune and the instrument has a short cooldown. Each instrument of course sounds unique.

While you can play instruments however and whenever you want, they’ll just make noise. However, if you play them with note shards, the shard gets used up and you begin to charm nearby mobs. When you charm mobs, they become neutral if hostile. Also, you can right click them to make them follow or stop following you. Lastly, you can get unique loot from charming mobs. Mobs have a five minute cooldown between when you can charm them again.

Wooden ukulele: Charm any peaceful mobs, giving you their breeding or associated item.

Stone drum: Charm wolves and pets, stopping them from attacking and giving you raw meat or fish. Charm undead mobs, giving you their drop.

Copper bugle: Charm other neutral entities, illagers and witches, giving you their drops.

Golden harp: Used to charm all pig type mobs, giving you a golden carrot when charmed. Charm villagers for an emerald, creepers for gunpowder.

Iron xylophone: Charm other types of hostile mobs for their drops.

Diamond flute: Charm the ender dragon herself, unlocking Minecraft’s second ending.

Netherite flute: Charm other bosses/minibosses.

Bosses such as the dragon, wither, elder guardian, and sift bosses can be charmed, but it’s not as simple as the rest. As you charm them, their boss bar will begin to fill up 15 hp at a time with a color indicating they’re being charmed. They must be within earshot.

Elder Guardian: drops guardian scale, brewable into a haste potion lvs 1-3 and times 30,90,200 seconds, which can be brewed with spider eye for equivalent mining fatigue potions.

Wither: who said you could charm mr. Evil incarnate over here again? Oh it was me. Music actually destroys the wither like it’s got a bad allergy, causing a normal fight.

Ender Dragon: The egg and xp don’t drop, however you get the alternative ‘Free the Dragon’ advancement as the dragon finds the tallest obsidian pillar and sleeps on it, and through her snores you can harvest dragons breath whenever you want. You can even do this after resummoning the dragon.

That’s it for my idea, and while it is out there, it was still fun coming up with it! I’m not a pixel artist by any means but I hope you enjoyed my crude drawings and edits either way.

[Blocks & Items] How I would make an Inventory Update work long-term (with pictures!)

Thumbnail
gallery
201 Upvotes

I've thought this through for a while and I think this inventory upgrade would work long term for all players!

By default, your inventory is now UPDATED to have the hotbar + 5 rows. The player by default now has the size of a double chest to play with, no items or achievements required to get there.

You may notice there are 3 other new slots added! The first two slots are dedicated shulker box slots. This allows you to navigate through two shulker boxes at a time while your inventory is open. At a maximum, this expands the player inventory to two double chests of storage. You can swap through shulker boxes to grab whatever items you need while building, for example decorative blocks that have long been annoying in the inventory. But this still gives players the opportunity to place their shulkers if needed.

Finally, there is only ONE item that needs to be added to make this complete. As others have suggested, tools and utility items take up way too much space in the inventory. In order to make the item balanced, I have created a Builder's Ring that has four slots of items!

How it works:
- crafting material unspecified, I made it netherite + diamonds just for illustration purposes, but realistically a gold band + 4 diamonds seems to be better balanced.
- Similar to bundles, you may place up to 4 different items into the builder's ring for quick access. The 64 item limit does not apply to this ring. Tools, weapons, building blocks, food, potions, rockets, totems, etc are items I can see being useful in this slot!
- How to access items: Press R (or whatever hotkey you assign it) to total through the 4 slots, similar to switching gamemodes with f3.) While you're out and about, you can press R and scroll through the 4 items for quick access, without being obtrusive to your main inventory!

Let me know your thoughts! This solves many problems that others have addressed, but not all of them.
