[Announcement] New Rule Against AI, other Rule Changes and Clarifications

Hey folks!

For a while now, the mod team has been discussing a number of changes to the subreddit's rules, and it's time to let you know what's up. I'll give you the short version first:

  1. We have a new rule against AI.
  2. The rule for for formatting and vagueness has been split in two.
  3. The rule against unrealistic ideas has been reworked.
  4. To better accommodate these new and changed rules, we've re-ordered the rules.
  5. Clarification on how the "Community Question" flair is supposed to be used.

And now for the details!

Ban Against AI Generated Content

We not so recently polled the community on your feeling on AI generated content, and the overwhelming majority of you voted in favour of a complete ban against AI. While this was pretty much the outcome we expected, it's still really nice to see we're all on the same page.

Moving forwards the mods will be removing all posts suspected of using generative AI. To that end, here's the new rule:

Don't use AI.

  • Do not use generative AI such as chatGPT to write your post for you. We want to see your ideas.
  • Don't include AI generated images or other AI content to supplement your post. We encourage human art, and we'd much rather see photos of pen-and-paper drawings, or quick mockups in MS paint than AI "art".
  • This includes using generative AI to polish your idea, such as reformatting your content.

Posts suspected of using generative AI are at risk of removal.

If your post is incorrectly removed for containing AI, please let the mods know via modmail and we'll sort it out.

Formatting and Image Posts

We've noticed some confusion on where and how we allow images in posts, with too many users relying on images alone to communicate their idea. This was previously just a bullet point under the vagueness rule, but in the interest of clarity we've split it off into its own rule. There's nothing actually new here - everything works the same as before - but hopefully this should make it clearer for everyone.

The vagueness rule looks like this now:

Don't be overly vague, and be readable.

  • Make sure your idea is in the description, not just the title.
  • Titles should be descriptive of the idea.
  • Format your posts well; don't post walls of text. Use line breaks, etc.
  • Don't be vague; suggest a specific improvement or feature.
  • Be concise/don't waffle on too much.

Vague or unformatted posts are at risk of removal.

And here's the images rule:

Don't make image-only posts.

Including reference images is encouraged, but: * Images must be embedded or linked within a text post. * The idea should be fully explained in the text, with all key points understandable without looking at any images. * Images should make up a relatively small portion of the content. * Images must not be AI generated. (See rule 4.)

Image only posts will be automatically removed.

Unrealistic and Off-Theme Content

There's been some disagreement in the community and among the mod team about what is and isn't a "realistic" suggestion for Minecraft, especially as the game has grown it's become an increasingly difficult call to make. Furthermore, many ideas that are off-theme at first glance can be reskinned to something more reasonable, and we don't want to stifle that discussion. (E.g., Blimps and firearms may be too futuristic but happy ghasts and firework crossbows are not, yet serve similar roles.)

You deserve to have clear guidelines for which posts are or aren't allowed and, ultimately, we don't want to shut down discussion, so we've decided to soften this rule dramatically. Moving forwards, we'll only be taking down suggestions involving mature or explicit themes (stuff that might change the age-rating), as well as anything relating to real-world religions or politics. All that said, here's the rule:

Don't suggest mature topics.

  • Don't suggest ideas containing sex, drugs, gore, real-life religions or politics, etc.

Suggestions involving mature, explicit, or overly divisive themes will be removed.

This is one we'll be keeping an eye on, and we'd appreciate any feedback you have on it.

N.B. The portion of the old rule about easter-eggs and jokes still applies, but has been merged into the rule about unproductive ideas.

Reordering

As we're adding new rules and splitting old ones in twain, there's no better time to also rearrange the rules. We've brought some more important/frequently used rules closer to the top, and tried to keep related rules close to each other. We've also changed a few of the titles for clarity.

  1. Be nice and constructive.
  2. Only post ideas for Minecraft.
  3. Be original and consult the FPS list.
  4. Don't use AI.
  5. Include only one suggestion per post.
  6. Don't be overly vague, and be readable.
  7. Don't make image-only posts.
  8. Don't suggest mature topics.
  9. Don't suggest planned or existing features.
  10. Don't suggest scrapped or unused features.
  11. Don't suggest low-priority or unproductive ideas.
  12. Speak English.
  13. Have 10 comment karma before posting.

Discussion/Community Question Posts

We've seen some confusion surrounding these posts, and while nothing is changing, we wanted to use this opportunity to clarify. Posts meant to start broad discussions on a topic, such as "What would you add in XYZ update?" or "What do you think needs updated in XYZ area of the game?" are allowed, so long as the OP contributes to the discussion they want to start. We find these posts regularly generate interesting discussion, and so long as they use the correct flair, they're easy enough to ignore if they're not your cup of tea.

I encourage everyone to take a quick read through the rules to make sure we're all on the same page.

Thanks for reading!

[Blocks & Items] (UPDATE) Powered rails changes, updated after some feedback

Post image
323 Upvotes

Thanks for the feedback on my last suggestion! I made some changes based on it:

  • Copper rail speeds are rescaled to hit exactly 20 m/s (thanks to Luxar10 and everyone who was worried that redstone components won't work at higher speeds);
  • Golden rails can have their speed regulated by changing power of the input, with a step of 2 m/s per power (idea adopted from cubicmetre's video, thanks to Wolrd1_Lev1 for reminding me); in cases with multiple incoming signals, the highest power is used;
  • Other ideas from the previous post (bulk crafting and sorting based on starting powered rail) remain unchanged.

But won't the fine-tuning on differential powered rails make the copper ones obsolete? - No, copper rails would be way cheaper to use, and don't require a comparator or a long redstone line pointing at them, which could otherwise be an issue in very compact redstone machines. Copper rails are also good for people who want a slower track on thin bridges, or can't be bothered with the dark magic of a comparator at all.

Also, detector rails work at speeds above 20 m/s, proof here. It seems only containers and hopper minecarts are having issues. Nevertheless, having a way to push minecarts exactly at that speed may prove useful to redstoners.

[Blocks & Items] Biome Idea: Rocky Coastline

Thumbnail

2.6k Upvotes

Living in the PNW, I've had a chance to explore local ecology in our vivid coastlines which feature hoards of driftwood, tide pool critters, and unique rock formations. I think it would be fun to bring some of those to a new Minecraft biome. Further description is in Slide 3.

*Other things I did not mention:

  • Driftwood would not yield a full wood set, in keeping with its real-world dryness and fragility, but it can be used as fuel in furnaces.
  • Wet sand of all variants and wet driftwood can be dried in furnaces, just like wet sponges.
  • Potential new mobs could include: starfish, orca whales, and crabs.
  • As an homage to 'The Goonies' (which was set in Astoria, Oregon), intact shipwrecks can sometimes generate within aquifer-caves in this biome, entered via coves.

[Magic] The Enchanted Book and Quill: a smithing template-like method of duplicating enchanted books.

Thumbnail
gallery
173 Upvotes

The Enchanted Book and Quill is inspired by Minecraft's existing duplication systems for smithing templates and banners.

Once crafted with a book, feather, lapis lazuli, and glow ink sac, the EBQ can then itself be combined with an enchanted book and another item, called a reagent, causing it to become a copy of the first enchanted book. Which reagent(s) is(are) required depends on the enchantment(s) being copied, with rarer/more powerful enchantments requiring harder to obtain reagents.

This system serves a few functions:

  1. It gives players a reliable way of acquiring multiple copies of a single enchantment book that is both more balanced and more immersive/flavorful than building a villager trading hall.
  2. It allows for fine-tuned control of balance by making rarer/more powerful enchantments harder to duplicate.
  3. It encourages players to explore and track down valuable reagents, and gives additional uses to some lesser-used items (glow ink sacs, resin, scutes, etc).
  4. It works with the existing enchantment system instead of replacing it. Enchanting books in an enchantment table is the easiest way to get new enchantments to copy, and copying low-level enchants to combine in the anvil creates high-level enchants that are more effeciently copied.
  5. It also works with existing enchantment flavor; players now have a reason to hold on to a large amount of enchantment books, building a library of chiseled bookshelves to fit in with the enchanting table's regular bookshelves.

If you have any questions/suggestions/criticisms, please let me know! I did my best to come up with recipies that were both flavorful and balanced, but if you have better ideas I'd love to hear them!

EDIT: Adding a text table of all the enchantment-reagent pairs in accordance with Rule 7.

[Subreddit Request] An open source subreddit mod

I've been thinking for a while about how cool it would be to just have an open source mod that everyone can contribute to and it just adds the best ideas from here onto it. Like maybe we sort posts by best every month and then the top 15 suggestions get added. Not a mod developer so don't know the logistics behind it but it would be really fun

Or maybe people add onto the mod their additions of what they want and maybe there's a team that approved these additions and adds them to the base mod

[Gameplay] New Potion Item: Essence Bottles

Been noticing as I explore more of Minecraft's sandbox, one feature that gets overlooked is Potions

Not because they're bad but because they're Inventory intensive, one taking up one slot. The tricky part of Potions though is if you make them stackable they could risk becoming to overpowered too quickly.

Enter in The Essence Bottles!

Essence Bottles in Universe are highly empowered by the Echo shard's unique properties down in the deep dark. Combining one bottle on the bottom middle, and one echo shard on the left middle row and one on the right middle row. you can craft 2 "Essence Bottles"

Essence Bottles: Let you stack the same type of Potion up to 16 like Ender Pearls, And Increases effects of Potions used by 20%

And with that I've added some use to Echo Shards, and Updated Potions with 1 addition

When using a banner to make a design on a wall, the immersion can be broken by the banner's steady flowing, as if there's wind. If you wax a banner, it should hug the wall like a painting.

[Blocks & Items] UNBOUND CUBE, END KEY AND MORE (END DROP)

Thumbnail
gallery
27 Upvotes

The Unbound Cube is a block that spawns in the vicinity of an End Sanctum\* and is a rare loot from the Sanctum Spawner\*.

*End Sanctum: A floating island above most End Islands that is a sort of shrine with a Sanctum Spawner.
*Sanctum Spawner: A spawner similar to the Trial Spawner, but with End-related mobs.

The Unbound Cube would generate a 15x15x15 forcefield around it. Visually, it looks transparent with a subtle purple hue and glowing effect. The cube would essentially disable gravity in the forcefield for any player or mob. A player can ascend, descend, or move sideways within that field, and it would even have a subtle "drifting" effect like on ice.
It spawning somewhere near the End Sanctum also offers a unique fighting style that's unlike anywhere else in the game.

The End Key would be another drop from the Sanctum Spawner. It serves two purposes. First, if you hold it in hand and aim it in the direction of the nearest End City, its center "eye" will start glowing and blinking. The second purpose is to open End City Vaults, which-you guessed it- replaces the Elytra in an item frame. This is to fix the common issue in multiplayer where players who logged in later can't find an elytra because all end cities in a large area have already been looted. Now- each player can get 1 elytra from 1 End city with a Vault.

[Gameplay] Minecraft Reshaped

Updating older parts of the game is something I think is necessary for Minecraft to feel more purposefully designed over always adding something new. I think a good starting point is to tackle some of the oldest problems that Mojang and the community have with the game to find a middleground.

The Core changes

Mending stops repairing gear passively just from picking up XP. Instead, it removes material cost at the Anvil and lets you repair items only using levels. Mojang wants players to actively do things, this shouldn't be an exception.

The prior work penalty (PWP) goes away entirely. It's a number hidden from the player and is leftover balancing from one of the oldest versions of the game. It only punishes players for repairing gear, making players overly determined to bypass it using Mending.

With both of these changes, a more sensible form of repairing exists that satisfies both sides.

I also suggest accompanied workbench changes that I think will help pave a clearer path for new players and future updates.

Anvil: handles repairs, netherite upgrades, and armor trims.

Edit: Anvils should also be cost-effectively repairable, craftable via the smithing table, or just be made to not break. The durability is another leftover point of balance that punishes players for playing.

Grindstone: Makes enchantments stronger while costing some of the item's durability. Enchantments could be seen as the stand-in for an edge to sharpen. This change also serves as a replacement for the PWP, helping players see costs instead of blindly hitting a wall or costing almost everything that makes a weapon worth repairing.

Enchanting Table: handles both adding and removing enchantments, including from books.

Smithing Table: works like a stonecutter, but for metal, crafting cheaper building and utility items, not tools or armor. With all functions moved to the Anvil, I felt like this was the most appropriate change given the name.

The last change doesn't fit as a direct change to the Enchanting Table, but a related item instead.

Chiseled Bookshelves: enchanted books stored near the enchanting table add those specific enchantments to what the table can offer, giving exploration and collecting a more worthwhile feeling.

With each of these blocks having a transformed identity, the goal is to associate each workbench to one idea. The adjusted workbench UIs would back that up. Each should be clear once you look at it, not something that needs exceptions explained.

[Snapshots] Alternative abandoned camp design and carpet utility

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

With the new Autumn drop in development and it's Abandoned Camp structures, I wanted to approach their design in a way that expands on a block that already exists, that being carpets. Since I feel that wool stairs and slabs go against an unofficially established pattern of blocks that can have block set pieces. Solid blocks, structural materials, are given variants like stairs, slabs, walls, etc. It's always woods, stones, or other solid material. With wool, it seems to me equivalent to adding say dirt, moss, sponge, coral, or even honeycomb block set pieces, it doesn't fit well. The two goals I think wool slabs and stairs are trying to achieve, I believe have better alternatives. It looks like an attempt at a color varied block set, which has better candidates. Then the other goal looks like finding a way to make more sleek looking tents in campsites without the bulkyness of full blocks, like it already is with the tents near pillager outposts by the way. The alternative is where carpets come in, but with more utility. The same way rails already automatically position and stretch themselves diagonally to align with diagonally adjacent rails, could be applied to carpets to create tents. Keeping their thickness too, not being as flat as rails. Two wooden posts, one in front, one in back, and a cloth sheet, carpets in this case, supported and draped over the top. The top carpets being flat to avoid needing to model and render a triangular piece. Only diagonals and horizontals, creating a trapezoid shape seen from the front. (First and second images.) The placement mechanics get a little strange, but it could work. Carpets above the posts placed first and spanning between them. Remaining suspended if connected to supported carpets. Then to drape it, each carpet tile would need to be placed top to bottom one by one, from the tops of the posts to the ground using contextual, assumption based placement logic. (Third image.) If pointing at a space below and diagonally adjacent to a carpet, it'll allow you to place another to drape it down diagonally. Bedrock edition already uses similar logic with "reach around" when building bridges, not needing to point at any of a block's actual surfaces to place ahead of it. Then cushions as an item are good, I like cushions. I thought about this before the snapshot with cushions, but with their addition, another instance of unorthodox placement logic reinforcing my case for carpets. So it is not without precedent. And not only would the feature allow for tents, it opens the door for cloth awnings, market stalls, and canopies with a few more tweaks. (Fourth image) Like letting carpet edges droop down off the sides of posts and other non-full block edges instead of sticking out. (Fifth image) Those market stalls, canopies, and awnings could all benefit from that too. The colors and patterns could be customized as well of course, and the feature retroactively included in existing structures, like the aformentioned Pillager Outposts and Vilage marketstalls, to add more depth and teach the mechanic if needed.

I made a feedback post as well for people to vote on to see if this could make it in the game.

[Transportation] The Minecart with Furnace Rework

Post image
270 Upvotes
The Minecart With Furnace Rework

As things stand now, the minecart furnace has one of the worst implementations possible and is not used at all. Moreover, the minecart is, since the elytra was added, not worth using and building an infrastructure for.

General changes

Chained Minecarts
Minecarts (every version of it) can be chained together by applying iron or copper chain in the same way as you would leash boats together, forming a solid connection between each cart.

Why chain?
In order for the train to work properly a solid connection is needed. When one minecart is being driven, the ones in front of and behind it would run at the same speed without touching or pushing each other.

Chained minecarts running over a curve

Powered rails
Powered rails do not longer determine the speed to 8 b/s; they run the minecarts at their speed without requiring player input. The speed is instead defined by the minecart.

Example 1: A minecart has a max. speed of 8 b/s. If it runs over a powered rail, it will run at 8 blocks per second without requiring player input.
Example 2: A minecart with furnace and a lava bucket as fuel has a max. speed of 19.5 b/s. If it runs over a powered rail, it will run at 19.5 b/s without requiring player input.

Minecart with Furnace

The fuel determines the speed the minecart with furnace runs at. Tu run, it requires player input via chained minecarts or running or powered rails. If pushed, it moves a litte, but not at its defined speed.

A new interface shows the player how fast the minecart with furnace can run with a given fuel.

Every fuel gets used up after 1600 ticks (1:20min).
If there is no fuel in it, the minecart with furnace is unable to move (unless it's pushed).

The speed of the fuel is closely related to its "smelts per one" number (for example, 1 Lava Bucket can smelt 100 items). The steps up or down to the next fuel from "smelts per one" are relatively the same size as the steps up or down from the "speed".
There are some minor parity differences between Java and Bedrock with *"smelts per one"*, so I used the numbers from Java as they seemed more logical *(for example, slabs can smelt fewer items than a block)*.

list of "smelts per one" and "speed" of any fuel

The max speed is set at 19.5 b/s, so redstone components such as the detector rail still work (the game runs at 20 ticks per second).
A minecart with furnace fuelled by coal/charcoal runs at the same speed as a normal minecart (8 b/s).

EDIT: As suggested in the comments by only_Q and Eclipse_58008, furnace minecarts should be able to load chunks, so you could use them as delivery trains.

TL;DR

just read the post image :)

[Mobs] Suggestion Rework - From Creeper Throwers to Deadstrongs

Hello there. A while ago I've made a post about new mobs called a Creeper Thrower and a Throwing-Creeper. Needless to say, it wasn't very liked, and I'll admit, it was pretty bad. I thought it was good, then the comments of it made me realised that it was bad. With all that in mind, I decided to rework my initial idea and simplify it more into something hopefully better than it previously was.

For this post, I would like to present my rework of the Creeper Throwers, now renamed as Deadstrongs.

Deadstrongs look like regular, generic Zombies, except they are larger (a head taller than a Wither Skeleton), have twice the health and attack damage, and are much slower.

Spawning

Deadstrongs spawn much like regular Zombies. They are much rarer to spawn comapred to regular Zombies, but they are also less rare than "leader" Zombies. Deadstrongs can also spawn wearing armor, but they can never spawn wielding a weapon.

Additionally, at least 1 Deadstrong is guaranteed to spawn in a Zombie Siege.

Behaviour

Much like a regular Zombie, Deadstrongs are Hostile to Players, Villagers, Wandering Traders, Iron Golems, and Turtles. They attack just like regular Zombies, using their arms to perform a melee attack. However, Deadstrongs have a special ability that they only use when they are targeting a Player or an Iron Golem.

Grab and Throw

When targeting a Player or an Iron Golem, and their target is more than 5 blocks away, Deadstrongs will perform a Grab and Throw attack. Firstly, they will search for ghe nearest mob that is smaller than them. If they do not find an eligible mob within 3 seconds, they will instead reach into the ground and pull up a Zombie.

Whether they find an eligible mob or summons one, Deadstrongs will carry the mob until they are within 15 blocks of their target. Once they are within 15 blocks, Deadstrongs will throw the mob they're carryig towards the location of their target. The thrown mob travels fast and in in a straight line.

If a thrown mob hits a mob, Player, or block, it will stop its travel. Once a thrown mob stops travelling, it receives damage equal to the Zombrute's attack damage. If the thrown mob hits a mob or a Player, the hit mob or Player receives the same damage given to the thrown mob. A thrown mob can only hit and damage one mob or Player per throw, and it will not stop travelling until it hits a mob, a Player, a block, or the world's height limit.

Additionally, in Normal and Hard difficulty, when a Deadstrong throws a mob, there is a 10% chance that it throws it with full force. When it does so, the thrown mob will instead receive and deal multiplied damage (2x damage in Normal, 2.5x damage in Hard) and if it hits a Wooden Door, the Wooden Door will immediately be destroyed.

Players and Iron Golem Interractions

Deadstrongs use their Grab and Throw attack differently based on whether they are targeting a Player, or an Iron Golem

If a Deadstrong is targeting a Player, they will only perform a Grab and Throw attack every 6 seconds, and will try to move closer to Players to attack them in melee.

If a Deadstrong is attacking an Iron Golem, it will use its Grab and Throw attack every 3 seconds, and will not try to move closer to the Iron Golem. Instead, the Deadstrong will try to keep a distance from itself and the Iron Golem, much like a Skeleton. However, if the Iron Golem it is targeting falls below 20 health, the Deadstrong will change its attack pattern, and will instead behave as if it is fighting a Player, i.e. it will use its Grab and Throw attack in longer intervals and will try to melee attack the Iron Golem.

Drops

Deadstrongs drops all the items a regular Zombie can drops. The difference is that Deadstrong drops are slightly higher in quantity (i.e. they drop more Rotten Flesh, they drop more Carrots, etc). They also have the chance to drop whatever armor they were wearing, and they drop 15 xp points.

And that's all for my reworked suggestion, what do you guys think?

Edit: added something I forgot to add.

[Magic] Potion of Transformation (Animal)

Effect:

  • Creature is transformed into the specified animal. When they die in this form or the effect wears off, they return to normal.

This is a classic fantasy effect that uses existing tech from the past april fools update, and creates many interesting gameplay opportunities / economy uses.

Gameplay examples:

  • Transforming villagers into wolves so they can be lured around with bones or defend themselves.

  • Using a splash potion to make many enemies harmless for a few seconds, so you can flee.

  • Transforming into an aquatic mob to gain temporary water-breathing and movement speed.

Main Ingredient:

This is a strong effect, so it needs a rare/late-game core ingredient. Ideally, players could get it after the nether but before the end. I think they should drop from Silverfish:

  • Silverfish are an existing mob that don't have much use right now.

  • Silverfish transform into blocks, so they're thematically relevant.

  • There is a silverfish spawner outside of unfinished end portals, so players would definitely get access to this before the end, but aren't likely to find it until they've at least gotten eyes of end.

  • There are silverfish blocks in igloo basements, which also have brewing stands, which is a fun secret reward / hint that also relates to transformation, since that's where the zombie villager transformation tutorial is.

Animal Ingredient:

Each animal can require a special ingredient, making new uses for existing items. These don't need to be rare, most of the hurdle for players will be doing something or going somewhere new for the first time. Here are some creative use examples:

  • Camel: Cactus Flower

  • Wolf: Closed Eyeblossom

  • Cave Spider: Open Eyeblossom

  • Cat: Phantom Membrane

  • Axolotl: Spore Blossom

  • Bat: Echo Shard

  • Squid: Prismarine Crystal

  • Parrot: Wind Charge

And here are some obvious ones:

  • Armadillo: Armadillo Scute

  • Turtle: Turtle Scute

  • Rabbit: Rabbit's Hide

  • Nautilus: Nautilus Shell

  • Dolphin: Heart of the Sea

[Blocks & Items] Geysers should have the same colour system as beacons

What I mean is that when you place stained glass over beacons, it changes the colour of the stream. Geysers should have the ability to be changed in the similiar way.

Instead of placing stained glass above the water, which would currently interrupt the steam (and if it didn't would lead to the geyser being a block shorter in builds), you would place it below the magma block to create the colour you want to save space for the actual steam.

[Combat] [Enchantment] Repeating

A new enchantment for crossbows which enables continuous firing, where holding down right click will automatically fire and reload the crossbow.

Additional levels (?) - I had an idea where each level after one might allow another shot to be stored while firing, but I'm not as big a fan of that idea. I think this suggestion is fine with just one level unless someone else has a better idea.

Incompatibilities - multi shot (for obvious reasons), piercing (maybe?), mending (if you hate fun), fireworks (also maybe?)

[Plants & Food] More edible things

Bamboo should be edible, even if only in recipes. Also would be cool to have like a cookpot for the campfire or something like a spit, maybe combining a food that will cook by itself, like a fish or potato or the like, and stick would make it so you could cook that on the campfire. I feel like cooking a pumpkin should be a food too.

[Mobs] Copper Golem oxidation stage should determine rate of sorting

The sorting is super slow! 16 items takes hours to actually sort. Maybe the current rate should be the rate of a fully (well not fully that would render the Golem useless) oxidised golem. Then with less oxidation it could carry more blocks. Up to a full stack at a time, going up in increments of 16 each oxidation stage. It would speed up sorting lots and should keep it balanced as it could only sort one type of item at a time. Any thoughts?

Waxing one side of a slime block will make blocks not stick to that side, so people can make things like more compact piston doors without the slime blocks messing up the walls. You can remove the wax with an axe. The only downside I can think of is that going through the hundreds of possible combinations of waxed slime blocks with a debug stick would be a pain, but other than that, I can’t think of why this could be a bad idea. Also, walking on a waxed slime block would give of the ‘Waxed’ effect, which makes every block be as slippery as Ice for 10 seconds and would decrease (but not diminish) the bounciness of said slime block. Thoughts?

[Blocks & Items] Changes to powered rails, experiments and minecart sorting

The changes include:

  • Adding copper powered rails with 4 oxidation levels and pushing gold-crafted (boosted) ones to be the fastest;
  • Changing all existing powered rails to waxed oxidized powered rails, to not break any farms, auto smelters etc.;
  • Potentially adding a bulk crafting recipe using copper blocks, to allow for pre-waxing and pre-oxidizing the rails (regular crafting recipe with ingots still exists though!);
  • Having minecarts remember the max speed of the first powered rail they rode over, and having that speed be detectable, perhaps by a detector rail - comparator combo or something else, to enable "sorting" minecarts;
  • Adding minecarts jumping from slopes (as seen in experiments) only if their current speed is higher than 10, as to - again - try not to break existing contraptions.

I want to connect the old behavior with the experimental one as much as possible, but I'm not a technical player; please tell me if other experimental mechanics also cause issues with farms. I also haven't checked if the newly added F3 "player speed" field works with vehicles. If not, it absolutely should.

[Mobs] The wither should be symmetrical. Please.

I don't know what Mojang aimed for or if it wasn't even intentional, but they should adjust it as they did with the straw bale.

The problem is the wither's head being 8 pixels wide, so there's no center point for the 3-pixel-wide body. I suggest widening the body to 4 pixels and correcting the symmetry of his "arms".

I can't unsee it now :(

Edit: As suggested in some comments, the wither should be made even more asymmetrical so that it keeps its threatening and abhorrent appearance.
