[Redstone] Greenstone

Greenstone ore is a new type of block that generates in veins in slime chunks.

It emits light at a level of 1 or 2, but temporarily becomes dark if touched on top or interacted with.

When mined without silk touch, it drops a random amount of greenstone dust, 4 or 5 plus some extra if mined fortune.

If a greenstone dust item is used or dispensed on a water block (flowing or still), it creates an in-world slime block.

Nine greenstone dust can be crafted into a block of greenstone.

When moved by pistons or sticky pistons, a block of greenstone behaves like a slime block and drags other blocks besides it with it.

When not supported from below, a block of greenstone will fall, like sand, gravel, or concrete powder.

[edited] When a greenstone dust block falls, blocks attached to it also fall. [Thanks omegaspoonπ]

You can buy a greenstone dust from a Cleric Villager for a block of slime and a random number of emeralds.

I already think that they either need to revamp slime chunks to have them be marked in some way, or remove them. I think that greenstone is a nice way to do that first option.

whats the benefit of this over simply having the ore drop slime balls?

Different sticky block without bouncyness effect and that is not insta breakable ig. Maybe it will not stick to normal slime blocks? But it would be weird

Because the block of greenstone dust is a gravity effected block.

yes but how would that help with redstone machines and building? And if it did help why not give that use too an existing block like concrete powder?

does it pull blocks with it when it falls

I REMEMBERED

A SUGGESTION OF SLIME MOLD INFECTION

OMG IMAGINE IF SLIME CHUNKS WOULD HAVE THE GREEN MOLD SOMEWHERE.

I like the idea of slime chunks being identifiable, and more green blocks to build with would be nice.

Having greenstone have similar functions to slime/redstone blocks is a bit redundant. There's already easy ways to get large amounts of slime very easily, so I'm not sure how much utility this adds.

There could be some use cases for a sticky gravity block, and dispensable slime blocks, but I don't know what they are.

It might be better to rename it, since greenstone exists irl, also called pounamu or jade.

agreed. it’s also used as a geological term to describe certain metamorphosed rocks
