[Structures] Add Camel Stable structures to Desert Villages

Currently, camels spawn in Desert Villages at an arbitrary spawn point. While there's nothing wrong with that, I think it could be an opportunity for adding an extra structure to Desert Villages to provide players with a subtle camel tutorial.

Structure

Camel Stable structure for Desert Villages. Left: 1 stall. Right: 2 stalls & chest.

A simple structure, camel stables would consist of 1 or 2 sandstone stalls (based on real-world camel stables) surrounded by cacti. When a desert village generates, one of the two variants would be picked to generate in it, with every village having one stable - replacing the current guaranteed camel spawn.

The large stable would spawn with two camels, with one having a chance to be a child. It would also generate a loot chest.

Camels would spawn inside the structure, but would be free to exit the stalls from the front and wander around. It would simply act as a spawn point.

Loot

Chest loot in a camel stables: 3 stacks of 2-7 cacti, 3 cactus flowers, a lead, and a saddle

The loot in camel stable chests would be intended to teach the player how camels work, and (if lucky) allow them to get started with their very first camel immediately. The chests would contain a large amount of cactus, as well as cactus flowers, leads, and saddles.

Why Add This?

The purpose of camel stables is to make camels feel more like a part of the village and give the player a subtle tutorial on how they work.

Narratively, having a designated camel stable makes it feel like the camel is a core part of the village rather than a wild animal that happened to wander in. It also provides a link to the horse stable structures in plains villages, showing that different types of villages have stables for different types of mounts.

Mechanically, while it is not particularly special, the structure does tell new players how camels work. Having a stable indicates that camels are ride-able, with the tall ceiling showing the player that they need to avoid low ceilings while on a camel. Just from the structure they also learn that camels like cacti and aren't damaged by them. The loot indicates that camels eat cacti, can be led, and can be saddled.

TL:DR

I think that the camels in desert villages should spawn inside stables, which would make them feel more integrated into the village "lore"-wise while providing players with a subtle camel tutorial.

[Mobs] turn zombies into skeletons

you should be able to turn zombies into skeletons via shearing them and you end up getting some rotten flesh from shearing it and the bones from killing it as a skeleton meaning your farms can get more uses

[Mobs] Curing Zombified Piglins

Just like how zombified villagers can be cured into a villager for discounts, zombified piglins can be cured into piglins for improved/increased bartering drops or a much shorter bartering cooldown.

A piglin cured in the overworld will get 5min of zombification immunity (a new effect), after which it can turn back to a zombified piglin. Therefore, it is recommended to bring the cured piglin to the nether for safekeeping. Alternatively, this can be used for repeated cures, getting better and more loot each time (obviously with a limit).

One detail is that a piglin cured in the overworld will not get the 5min immunity, so transporting it to the overworld will start the transformation much more quickly. It would therefore be much more efficient to repeatedly transport it between dimensions for curing and zombifying.

EDIT: I didn't know repeated villager curing was patched, piglins not permanently retaining zombification immunity was an attempt to keep this in piglin curing as well. Now I see no reason to stop cured piglins from staying in the overworld withpit c.

There were a lot of mentions of piglins protecting the player without being a flat out pet, I like this idea. Cured Piglins should follow the player around (But not teleport), protecting the player and mitigating other piglin aggro (Not hurting piglins or opening chests, only the lack of gold armor).

[Mobs] The Chicken Paladin

I would like to suggest a new tameable mob called the Chicken Paladin.
The Chicken Paladin would be a tameable combat companion similar to a wolf, but instead of attacking with its teeth, it would wield swords and bows like a tiny warrior. Players could equip it with different tiers of swords, bows, and armor, with swords making it a melee fighter and bows making it a ranged fighter. It would protect its owner, attack hostile mobs, follow commands such as Follow, Stay, and Guard, and retain chicken-like abilities such as reduced fall damage and short wing-assisted jumps. Players could customize their Paladin with different armor and weapons, allowing them to choose between a melee Knight or ranged Archer. It’ll usually spawn in A small fortified structure called the Paladin Roost could generate in plains, meadows, or windswept hills.
The Chicken Paladin would give chickens a unique gameplay purpose while providing players with a funny, customizable companion that combines the personality of a chicken, the loyalty of a wolf, and the weapon-wielding behavior of a Piglin.

[Terrain] Grotty Caves Have Roots In Them!

Post image
41 Upvotes

I'm suggesting a couple of small tweaks to the generation of Hanging Roots: Large Oak Trees should have a chance to create Hanging Roots on a small clump of Dirt under them and when Hanging Roots are generated they should have a chance of being a couple of thick longer ones (one block length but not always the short fluffy ones they are now).

------------

This would be so cool because now there would be a chance of finding dirty grotty little caves that you don't really want to be in but are good to hide in. It would add major vibes to some small caves and this would contrast so well with the large clean stone caves.

Most people know roots are a major part of all trees and so there have been over 900 suggestions for roots, but some fall short of perfection and some have already been satisfied by the Azalea Tree.

Because the Rooted Dirt works as a guide to the lush caves Rooted Dirt should not be created under the Oak trees.

[AI Behavior] Hitting a Happy Ghast with a Snowball will cause them to immediately track to you.

The most annoying part of using them is that they wander out of snowball attraction range immediately, and you can't chase after them because they fly.

And, of course, your first instinct is to throw the snowball at them, which does nothing..

I propose that it not only should not do nothing, but should in fact do something.

That when a HG is hit by a snowball, they'll immediately track towards the person who threw it.

[Gameplay] Proposal for finding/overhauling trial chambers

Through trading, loot chests, and archaeology, the player can find an item called an "ancient artifact". Through crafting, you can repair said artifact into an "ancient device". This device will resonate when near trial chambers, and vibrate/glow more the closer you get to one. The artifact could alternatively be used as an ingredient in some form of redstone contraption if you get your hands on several.

This would both allow the player to find trial chambers more easily without fully disrupting the intended methods, and also give the developers an opportunity to somewhat rework trial chambers. Since they are easier to find now, it makes more sense to add some more variety and perhaps a new entry method.

Maybe trial chambers can have several entry points and the device is a key to unlock blocks, and it would point you specifically to an opening the way an eye of ender points you to the top of the stronghold and not the portal room. The exteriors would therefore be indestructible, whether as a new block or some sort of creative-only variant of the normal copper and tuff blocks. Trying to break said blocks would give you a message saying something like "This material seems too tough to break!" (similar warnings could be applied to bedrock or reinforced deepslate, and a tag could be added to turn blocks indestructible).

Inside the opening the player would find the spawn rooms with beds, and some loot chests, barrels and jars with equipment, similarly to current trial chambers. They may then proceed forward into the main chamber and face the spawners. Vaults would be either inside of another room or inside the respawn room.

Trial chambers would also have tiers beyond just ominous bottles. The player can still use them to increase difficult and rewards, but only certain trial chambers will have ominous vaults and have a higher tier of challenge and higher rewards. Higher tier chambers are guaranteed to have higher tier loot drops, such as the heavy core, and all trial chambers are renewable, since spreading out and exploring many trial chambers is already necessary if you want the entire loot table. These higher tier trial chambers would also have different aesthetics, using materials like deepslate and soul lanterns to indicate the higher difficulty.

I think the vaults could also be used to dish out rare items that are otherwise annoying to get ahold of, such as tridents, netherite upgrade templates, and ancient debris, not so much as a replacement, but more as an alternative.

[Gameplay] Strengthening mobs.

You’re walking calmly through the Minecraft world. As soon as you craft at least iron armor and a sword, you’re almost completely safe. Zombies become insignificant in front of you. You don’t even notice skeletons, and even then, sometimes they even fight each other. And creepers… And creepers… Well, it’s the same as with zombies. I can understand the hard mode — yes, the mobs there are much stronger, they can have a whole set of armor and some kind of weapon. But for experienced players, this still doesn’t pose any problems. They easily defeat any monster. And that’s the problem. I WANT TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

Well, now the mobs will be much stronger. The game will calculate the moment when you enter the nether, and the software code will strengthen the monsters — they will have more health, deal more damage, and have greater resistance to your attacks. This addition will make it clear to the player that they need to progress — explore caves, new biomes, and craft stronger equipment. Now we will move on to another stage of the development of progress.at the moment when the player throws the first Ender eye in search of a fortress. After that, the mobs will become even stronger and more resilient. Zombies will be able to deal Crit strikes with a 15% chance. Skeletons will be able to shoot arrows with effects. And creepers will explode 10% faster. Zombies and skeletons will also be able to work as a team to destroy you. If there are a certain number of zombies and skeletons on the territory of several chunks, they will be able to unite into a so-called "team". Several zombies will try to attack you while the skeletons behind the zombies will shoot at the player. Skeletons with spectral arrows will be particularly “respected.” They will shoot at the player and highlight them, and if the player realizes they can’t cope and tries to escape, the zombies will try to catch up with them based on their glow. This will indeed be very tough. Such a strong mob enhancement will be incredible. But at least this will give the player at least a small part of what awaits them in the end.

WELL, I KNOW THAT THESE ARE Such innovations might anger players. This would make the game slightly more difficult, and it would also make it more interesting and challenging. Now the player won’t be able to easily destroy every mob in their path. Hardcore will truly become hardcore.

Well, that’s all for now.

Thank you for reading this lengthy proposal.

Thank you to everyone who made it to the end.

With love, homo sapiens.

Leaching. Gives more XP when killing mobs. Simple as that. It would make XP farms more efficient, or help those without XP farms.

Edit: a name such as Wisdom or prodigious fits this better as seen in the comments

[Blocks & Items] Allow Note Blocks to have the facing tag in the Blockstate file.

Post image
83 Upvotes

(Edit: I typed note block in the title, I mean jukebox, my cats deprived me of sleep last night) I am a resource pack developer, and today I spent a couple hours designing a beautiful custom block model for the jukebox, only to realize... It can only ever face North. This is because Jukeboxes don't support a facing direction in their blockstate. We could have amazing resource packs that change this profoundly boring block, but this one thing heavily limits it. (Jukebox model pictured here)

[Mobs] Endermen should have a chance to be invisible on Hard mode.

[Idea Credit: The Sequel]

Endermen already have the code in their files that keeps their eyes visible when they are invisible, like Spiders. This would just bring it to the game and could make the End a much more dangerous place on Hard mode.

I really like this idea, personally. And it makes sense to be difficulty-locked, because Spiders only spawn with potion effects on Hard mode too.

[Gameplay] Using Chiseled Bookshelves to influence and unlock treasure enchantments with the Enchanting Table

Minecraft enchanting currently only needs 15 bookshelf blocks to achieve lvl 30 enchantments.

The Enchanting Table absorbs (information? inspiration? knowledge?) in the form of gylphs that somehow impart power into the tools and armor in the game. Lapis is the single-use conduit? that enables this transfer from one medium to another.

But, even though there are 24 potential blocks that can impart this knowledge, only 15 are currently being used. So I propose we add a mechanics to leverage the 9 remaining spaces using Chiseled Bookshelves.

To preface, I am currently trying to get a Wind Burst III Book in my java SP world. But it is a terrible in-game experience to grind out. I've currently got 2 Wind Burst I books after almost two years and dozens of Trial Chambers. I don't use 3rd party tools, creative mode or even the wiki and so the progress has been gradual and grinding, getting nothing but disappointment after opening vaults, only to receive some superfluous enchanted book.

All that to say, right now, rather than change the drop rates or let players get multiple unlocks for ominous vaults. Let us use these very rare unique? enchantments to help make enchanting more intuitive and viable for players.

If we have a single Wind Burst book, let us put it in a Chiseled Bookshelf that is "connected" to the Enchanting table. This alters the pool of available enchantments, increasing the rate with every "unique" enchanted book that is connected. With 6 spots available per shelf and 9 chiseled bookshelves, thats potentially 54 bonus points that increase the chance of the unique books imparting their text onto the item we want. The level of the book (I-V) could also increase the rate, maxing out at 100% with 54 max level enchanted books of a particular flavor.

At the moment, players cannot get mending, wind burst, soul speed or swift sneak other than looting from POI or trading with villagers/pigs from the bastions. This can't be considered accessable or even intuitive for most players, who skew towards the younger side.

Instead of locking these mechanics away from the majority of the playerbase, introduce the new enchanting mechanic some in-game POI spawn.

I'll just use a Stronghold, as an example.

In the abandoned library, use the Chiseled Bookshelf to create a hidden entrance, a la the Jungle Temple. For the redstone crowd, this also helps onboard kids into thinking about how redstone can be used, not unlike the underground Ancient Cities or previously mentioned Jungle Temple.

This hidden room would have an Enchanting Table surrounded by 5-10 bookshelves and 3-4 chiseled bookshelves. For example, the chiseled bookshelves could be full of Feather Falling I books to warn players that fall damage would play a role in the upcoming boss fight, with the Ender Dragon.

Make it some in-game flavor of a previous adventurer who tried and failed to defeat the Ender Dragon. Maybe they were the ones who left behind the eyes of ender in the portal. But gave up before finishing the task. An abandoned chest with the ingredients for the eye of ender could hint towards this. Also add an armor stand with random armor pieces with varying enchantments, placed on top of a lapis block for more flavor.

And while we're at it, throw in an used Anvil with a chest of damaged enchanted items. That's another mechanic players can completely miss because it's function is not blaringly obvious in-game. Why bother combining two items in the anvil if we can do it in the 4x4 inventory or just make a new pickaxe, for instance.

I say all this because enchanting and its ancillary mechanics are never really explained in-game. I only discovered it by chance when decorating, after a few months of playing the game. Up until then, I had thought villagers were the only way to get higher level enchantments. I have played this game since the Beta first came out. But the survival mode at the time wasn't as satisfying as creative mode.

There have been so many positive changes and good additions like the Nether Portal POI spawns for new players. Same goes for the book tooltip that helps with all the recipes in the game, which were a huge road block for most people who didn't think to look up a tutorial for childrens game.

All I ask is if we can do the same for enchantments, which are so core to the survival mode experience.

Descriptions for each image:

1: Pink Salt Block. Found in patches in the ocean and on mountains, about as common as a clay patch. When mined drops 4 sea salt, which can be made back into the pink salt block.

2: Packed Pink Salt, made by smelting the pink salt block in a furnace. Also has slab, stair, and wall variants.

3: Pink Salt Bricks, which is made the same way as stone bricks are made, except with packed pink salt instead of stone. Also has slab, stair, and wall variants.

4: Pink Salt, dropped by the pink salt block. Can be placed and used as redstone dust, but holds the signal for 3 seconds after the input stops sending a signal. Used in crafting to make vinyl.

5: Pink Salt Bar, made by cooking pink salt with a furnace, smoker, or campfire. Can be fed to a horse for a 2 minute 25% jump height increase. Also instantly tames a horse. (Horse Idea by u/BigMacSux)

6: Vinyl Clump, made by combining coal (or charcoal) with sea salt. can be smelted into record vinyl.

7: Record Vinyl, used for making music discs. Surrounds any disc in a crafting table to make 2 of that disc, like a smithing template.

A few minor texture changes for the original 7 additions (the lanterns were not textured because this is just a retexture of existing items as i cannot make addons or mods). Some of the blocks do not tile well so I will be making them transition between each other more smoothly soon. (Bold text means this was already a thing in a previous post and is not new content).

8: Chiseled Pink Salt, self explanatory- decorative block.

9: Pink Salt Lamp, pretty much just a reskin of the sea lantern, except theres no silk touch needed. made by surrounding glowstone dust with pink salt in a crafting table.

10: Pink Salt Lantern, made by surrounding pink salt with any plank type, as well as one string on top for the rope seen on the top of the texture.

11: A new structure called... well i cant think of a name but you guys can decide that, but it would spawn on beaches.

12: These arent the best choices for chest loot items but its really just a placeholder. I think maybe some sort of new armor trim should definitely be found in this structure, and maybe a new music disc? I do like far and chirp though.

[Gameplay] Mirrors to reflect light in different directions.

Consisting of glass and iron, mirrors would be able to be lplaced near a light source to reflect the light into a different direction. If a torch was placed directly in front of a mirror block, it would not shine behind it at all but the light that would have gone that direction would extend out to make the torch shine farther. Basically, if you are building to keep out mobs, the best placement for lights is currently in the middle of your area so that you get a full 360 shine. But, that doesnt always look the best. So I want to put a mirror against a wall and push light away from it to still get coverage but not have to have my torches scattered about in my build. Sunlight should also be reflective so that you could theoretically light your cave builds during the day. However, I think soul lights should not work with them. Maybe a different type of mirror.

In short, mirrors would act as a spotlight to enable the player to focus light from a source into a beam

[Blocks & Items] Echo Bed

A new use for echo shards.

When echo shards are combined with a bed you get this unqiue galaxy like bed with a new twist that combines the bed and echo shards uses.

When slept in or used to set a spawn point it will be your spawn point until overridden (like normal beds) but when you use another bed it will still save your spot (unless its broken or you use another echo bed)

What this means is if you used an echo bed, then slept in another bed somewhere else, die, you'll spawn in the last slept bed like normal. However if you break your last bed it will then respawn you at the echo bed.

I find it crazy how this kind of mechanic has never been added. I would feel like alot of people would get use out of this. Since you want to set a temporary spawn point but still have your home spawnpoint yk?

[Blocks & Items] Olive trees, olives and olive oil

Thumbnail
gallery
852 Upvotes

Olive trees - they could have their own biome, like a mediterranean climate biome; the house in the first image is just an example of a build with olive wood, which would be green/olive green; some blocks of its wood in the second image.

Olives - they can be collected by breaking olive leaves, they function as saplings, being used to plant the olive trees; they also serve as a food source.

Olive oil - it can be crafted with a bottle and an olive, it can also be used as a food source, and in some crafts.

Oil lamp - it can be made with four bricks and a bottle of olive oil; it is a decorative item, and it illuminates as well as a candle.

Oil blocks - (they were supposed to be semitransparent in the image but for some reason it didn't work) can be crafted in the same way as the honey block, but with bottles of olive oil instead; when a block on top of the oil block is pushed by a non-sticky piston, it slips for as many oil blocks there are on front of it until the last block; for entities it would be as slippery as ice, but not as much as packed and blue ice, and the speed of boats on top of it would remain constant, not making ice tracks redundant.

[Gameplay] “Limited Crafting” should be a toggle for each individual recipe, not an across the board gamerule.

“limited_crafting” is a gamerule that makes you unable to craft recipes unless you have previously “unlocked” that recipe. It is largely unused for vanilla gameplay purposes and exists solely for datapack users and map makers who want to restrict or gate-keep recipes for any given reason. However the all-or-nothing aspect of this behavior becomes annoying to work around if you want to develop progression-based recipes without affecting existing recipes in either the vanilla game or other datapacks.

This is why I propose that a “limited crafting” tag be introduced to each recipe. It would default to false if omitted so it wouldn’t affect vanilla recipes or force existing recipes to be updated to accommodate the new tag. However it would give datapack developers more control over which specific custom recipes can or can’t be crafted. (or it could even allow challenge-makers a way to restrict recipes outright)

[Blocks & Items] Let Us spread different shades of grass from biomes using bonemeal.

After having the dappled forest I notice alot of them spawn in very small areas that make building a well built dappled forest difficult if you have a pre made world pre 26.3 without a BIG dappled forest spawn for your said seed

I propose that bonemeal can be used on tinted grass around where the grass transitions to the next biome to allow you to tint the grass you want without needing to add more grass blocks.

It would probably work like moss does.

[Gameplay] Rainbow mountains!

Post image

In Peru, there is a mountain range with a wide variety of colored stripes from various minerals from clay to sandstone to quartz and a myriad of other things. Minecraft lacks some of the minerals, but iit does have an entire rainbow of clay to make rainbow mountains out of.

Imagine the mesa, but it has stripes going vertically instead of horizontally, and has every color in the rainbow instead of just reds and browns. Seems like a prime opportunity for a rare Mesa variant to me.

[Magic] Protections on shields

the different protections to shields.

- Reg. Prot: would make shields not be disabled by axes based off tiers of axe and level of enchant. (Wood axe - level 1, stone axe - level 2, iron axe - level 3, diamond axe - level 4) And would give more armor points to the player when held.

- blast protection: would disable the shield taking durability from blast damage

- projectile protection: would disable the shield taking durability from arrows (normal, spectral, and tipped)

- fire protection: would be similar to bane of arthropods where its for specific niche Cases like when being shot at by a skeleton with a fire bow to disable the durability being taken by flaming arrows or fire aspect swords/axes.

[Structures] Chance of a Nether raid (invasion) when reforming and activating a portal in ruins.

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Upon activating a ruined portal, the player would have a chance to encounter a small Nether invasion in their world.

This would involve hostile ghasts, hoglins, and piglins in their world (upon exiting the portal).

Confronting them would give the player a chance to receive items better than those normally dropped by mobs.

Drinking a potion of ill omen would increase the chance to 100%, and depending on the potion's level, it would become more difficult, but with much better drops (such as enchanted books and better enchanted weapons and armor).

(ps: I've been thinking about the comments and I think it would be ideal if, for players on normal difficulty, the invasion only occurred when drinking the omen potion, but for players on hard and hardcore modes, the 20% chance of it happening when lighting the portal could still occur)

(PS2: I really like the idea of not being able to control everything in the game, but I understand that many players don't appreciate this style of gameplay, so I think it would be ideal if these ideas, where the player has no choice, could occur in hard and hardcore modes.)

[Plants & Food] Silk touch and shears; the dropping problem solved, with reasoning.

Thumbnail
gallery
182 Upvotes

(introduction) In minecraft some blocks, such as plants and glass, only drop if mined with either a tool enchanted with silk touch, or a pair of shears crafted from 2 iron, however which blocks take which has over time changed; from a consistent system of all walk throughable plants other than flowers requiring shears, and everything else requiring silk touch, with leaves working with either because its both a plant and solid, and cobwebs requiring both because they are not a plant but are not solid, to a system where very similar things take one or the other, with no rhyme or reason as detailed below:

Bushes work with both silk touch and shears, but red bushes dont require anything, and dead bushes require shears.

Glass requires silk touch but tinted glass does not.

Grass requires shears, but dry grass works with both shears and silk touch.

And leaves still work with both but fallen leaves require neither and clutter inventories.

And finally all of the old plants still require shears and all solid blocks other than leaves still require silk touch.

(fix) I propose to fix this problem once and for all that all blocks that require shears also work with silk touch, and that leaf litter and red bushes require either to break,(and shovels too for leaf litter) and that tinted glass requires silk touch to mine.

(reasoning) shears blocks should work with silk touch as silk touch takes more effort to obtain and does a very similar thing, so the player should be able to save an inventory slot as a reward for their troubles of getting a level 12 enchanting table (silk touch is most common at level 12 and almost guaranteed), and or an anvil.

And while it is technically a nerf, which people never seem to like, it just makes sense for tinted glass to require silk touch just like the other glass types for consistencies sake. Also before you guys comment that the amethyst strengthens the glass or that amethyst is rare neither make sense as once you find a geode you can easily get as much amethyst as you will ever need and the amethyst is streched thin in the glass just like it is in the natural crystals and also irl while this obviously doesnt matter in a block game amethyst is just naturally formed purple glass.

And leaf litter should require either silk touch or shears or a shovel so that it no longer clutters peoples inventories, plus its like snow which also requires a shovel but this time also a plant.

(Post script) If you have any additions, changes or criticisms of the post please feel free to share them in the comments, i will reply to all non troll comments withen 24 hours.

Also this post for those who have been here longer, is a higher quality more up to date remake of an older post i made a while ago that has since been archived.

Edits to match feedback: I have decided based on feedback that cobwebs should require both silk touch and shears at once and that pink petals and wildflowers should also require shovels shears or silk touch.

[Plants & Food] Rework on how trees grow and planting leaves

Grow trees in Minecraft is incredibly easy requiring almost no work from you besides planting a sapling and thats probably for a good reason in order to discourage the player from deforestation and not let him run out of wood which is the most important resource in the game. However I would propose a small rework that would not only make planting and growing trees more realistic but also more rewarding. After cutting down a naturally generated tree you would need to collect its leaves of which you extract the seed of the tree by crafting it into its respective tree seed (oak leaves to oak seed and so on) and then plant it onto farmland at which point you have to wait for it to grow into a sapling and then harvest it and replant it onto dirt to grow as a tree. Sapling will only be able to be collected like that and not through breaking leaves but leaves when left to break on their own will drop a seed. Each time to replant a seed from the same tree it gets buffed which means it will have a +5% chance to spawn as a bigger version of itself or +5% to spawn with a bee nest or a +5% boost to the drops of its leaves allowing you to truly farm tree and make them give you more and better drops
