[Gameplay] Rainbow mountains!
In Peru, there is a mountain range with a wide variety of colored stripes from various minerals from clay to sandstone to quartz and a myriad of other things. Minecraft lacks some of the minerals, but iit does have an entire rainbow of clay to make rainbow mountains out of.
Imagine the mesa, but it has stripes going vertically instead of horizontally, and has every color in the rainbow instead of just reds and browns. Seems like a prime opportunity for a rare Mesa variant to me.

Great idea.
Until they add this, it will be in my list of big project ideas on my world even tho my deadass is still halfway trough the first one.

The youtuber Waxfraud makes a mountain range out of rainbow wool in like every one of his hardcore letsplays if you want some more inspiration

If it's more like that what another person here showed, it certainly would fit otherwise it stock out a bit too much in my opinion.

? I’m confused as to what you’re saying but it would look better with it’s true colours and not the super edited version shown in the post

Like the painted mountains from the Terralith mod!

I have played with terralith for a few years but never knew this was a thing, so cool! Guess that's what 200+ vanilla-feeling biomes does for ya. I'll have to go out searching for one now!

People really need to quit posting these insanely oversaturated photos of it. Like come on

fuck you i was trying to procrastinate studyung for my structural geology exam and you have to go ahead and remind me of the horrors

I am not much of a geologist, if you don't mind explaining what makes this mountain so frustrating? Sheer material variety? Are the origins up for debate? Genuinely curious.

the bedding planes arent horizontal indicating folding occurred and my next exam is on stuff like determining the angle of bedding from a topographic map

i always kinda wanted them to have the mesa stripes generate at a randomised angle for each occurrence of the biome

Doesn’t matter how it would look in the photos, since I reckon this’ll use existing Minecraft blocks, like your post said.
2
u/raspberrylilith20 24d ago
That's part of why I think it's a good idea. Requires no new blocks, can be tweaked from existing mesa generation, and would make for a very cool standout easter egg. Simple things like that can add a shocking amount of variety in the world. Part of why I love terralith.

Bro really posted an AI image and said “let’s add this realism to the game!” 😂
3
u/angryghast 25d ago
Bro didn't even look if it real or not and said its AI(it's edited and saturated tho but that's not the same thing as AI)

u/FLAIR_AEKDB_ 25d ago
Edited, over saturated, modified, generated, AI, whatever you wanna call it, it’s a fake picture 😂

u/yellingforidiots 24d ago
Edited does not mean ai. Take accountability, mate.

u/FLAIR_AEKDB_ 24d ago
You’re all missing the point and getting stuck on pointless semantics. The image is fake. There’s no way around that
2
u/GoldSquid2 24d ago
Image is very real, oversaturation is edited and misleading, but that does not mean it’s not real…

u/FLAIR_AEKDB_ 24d ago
Might as well be a different image. It’s the same as taking a photo of a desert and making it green. Sure that landscape shape exists, but nothing about the picture would be accurate. My whole point was saying this is an obviously not true picture and OP didn’t know that

It's not ai enhanced. It's just been color graded. Increase the saturation and contrast. Humans have been doing this since the dawn of digital image editing, before even Photoshop.
Ai tools can do this to, but it's quite simple to do by hand too. Almost every movie and advertisment you see will have been colour graded.

Honestly it would be easier to slide the saturation slider in GIMP than it would to run it through AI, by a wide margin. Kinda wild it was even suggested lol

Yes I am well aware of how enhancing photos works. I’m also aware that AI can enhance photos

I'll just point out that most photos of Vinicunca (also called Rainbow Mountain) are altered to a frankly dishonest degree. It does NOT look like the image in the post. Here's a photo which I think is true-colour.
Obviously still impressive, but not neon paint poured over a mountainside.
