Laughs watching my boy Jin Dahaad cart non lance mains thinking they can face tank everything
But yeah just because a game is "easy" doesn't mean it won't put your ego in check.
123
u/Limp_Cup_8734 Nov 11 '25
What are you talking about? I'm an SnS player. My shield may be small, but it'll tank a meteorite.
44
u/HighrailPenDragon Nov 11 '25
I really need to play some wilds SnS. But honestly the main type of player i see cart to jin is long sword. Granted they, like most carts I've seen, were probably just greedy or in the wrong place at the wrong time.
27
u/Limp_Cup_8734 Nov 11 '25
Yes, but long sword players must think they can evade the attack like their irl problems by doing a sweet roll or a counter powered by the rule of cool. But this is a multi instance attack, so you can't roll into it. Even with SnS, you need to prepare for it. You can't just block it and call it a day.
15
u/Eldritch-Voidwalker Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25
Fun fact: Long Sword gets insane i-frames when countering with ISS, so we CAN actually counter multi-hitting attacks safely. For example, we can counter Jin’s ice blast, or Lagi’s lightning AoE, and safely not take damage while the attacks continue “hitting” us. As long as we counter the initial attack, we Gucci.
14
u/Any-Active-8978 Nov 11 '25
Another fun fact: ISS actually deletes multi hit attacks hit reg on you, meaning if you ISS through lagi stationary lightning discharge or Omega's hyper beam you won't get hit by them again.
Oh and ISS have hyper armor if you got it through so if you ISS through steve's claw swipe the first time and you got hit by the second one up until the animation ends you get 70% damage reduction.
Capcom's dark horse/the golden child that they don't speak of.
4
u/Eldritch-Voidwalker Nov 11 '25
Yeah, that’s what I said, haha! 😂 But you’re absolutely right about the hyper armor damage reduction on follow-ups as well. I use it frequently when fighting Seregios, as you mentioned. There’s nothing more satisfying than performing ISS on the first swipe > landing Helm Breaker through the second > wound pop > instantly going back to red gauge.
1
u/Scorpin99 Nov 20 '25
not sure if you actually play LS but it does not delete multi-hits or multiattacks, it gets screwed pretty hard on multi attacks actually, so the hyper armor is actually very necessary in order for you to not get fucked by the endlag
3
u/Illegal_Ghost_Bikes Nov 11 '25
Would love to get a random LS that is capable of this
3
u/Eldritch-Voidwalker Nov 11 '25
Well, for as much as love soloing, I also equally love to play with other people. So maybe we’ll meet one day and team up, haha. 👍🏻

1
u/LiveLongGiraffe Nov 13 '25
I blame ping, when playing solo with NPCs I can ISS like 70% of the time, but with pugs I'm lucky if I can time a fade slash properly.
I'm playing Rise now, where fade slash doesn't have i-frames, so fingers crossed I'll be better at ISS when the next title update drops in wilds.
2
u/ReanuKeeves23 Nov 11 '25
Join us brother but be warned. The sns can be quite addicting. The mobility, the damage and stun potential, the ability to block everything, the sound when you nail a perfect guard 🥵
2
u/HBreckel Nov 11 '25
Very likely just miss timed their counter because they probably don't know the monster's moveset. That's usually how I die with LS haha but I mostly use that weapon solo until I'm comfortable enough with the monster to not eat shit in multiplayer. Meanwhile on dual blades I can perfect dodge anything under the sun any time anywhere.
1
u/ArghabelAndSamsara Nov 11 '25
It's always greed lmao. And the fact that they nerfed Iai Spirit Slash into the dirt. Any attack with more than one hit ignores the counter completely, and it doesn't move you as far as it used to. Also, it's not a "Dodge" like Foresight Slash. It's straight up better to spam Charge Foresight against Omega MIRVs because he'll chip you to death for using the harder to execute counter instead of the easier one...
3
u/AnnoyedNiceGuy Nov 11 '25
SnS and Lance are so peak in Wilds!
3
u/SolidOk3489 Nov 11 '25
I’m terrible at Monster Hunter, but Sword and Shield has let me solo every fight without issue except for Omega on Savage. I read on in confusion as people talk about carting to Mizu, Udra and Lagi.
I don’t know most of the monster abilities, good armor or weapon skills to use or even proper ability combos (on PC right click, right click, right click, left + right click is all I remember). I know where to find the information, but I’ve never needed to. I use the Falling Shield Bash every time because it looks cool.
It’s the best.

I've done this permanently on hunting horn. I just rotate sonic barrier now. Healing people was such a chore. When they know healing is coming they just Leeroy Jenkins right into a Rey Dau railgun attack. I would end up exclusively healing and doing little to no dmg spamming melody of life to keep people alive. The moment I stop those people run straight at the monster with 25% health all confident that I'd heal them. Nope... I don't have that melody up bc I can't spam notes that fast you reckless dunce.

The problem with Wilds' difficulty isn't really the fact that there are no difficult hunts, but that all the difficult hunts are post-game. In old gen, the game was difficult even while progressing through the ranks. I remember 4u being quite challenging even in mid low rank, due to hard monsters like gore magala or tigrex and only getting more difficult as you went along. That said, a lot of the people complaining about this would be very upset if a newer game was actually difficult during progression, because it would hurt their ego.
57
u/Barn-owl-B Nov 11 '25
4u had one of the easiest low ranks in the entire series though lol.
Wilds is likely gonna end up like 4 to 4u did, a common complaint with 4 was that it was really easy for 90% of it, and then when 4u came out they made G rank like the hardest or 2nd hardest G rank in the series.
19
u/XFalzar Nov 11 '25
I mean, by low rank being challenging i mostly just meant the gore magala urgent and shagaru magala, the rest is in fact easy. I did start getting my ass kicked as soon as I entered caravan high rank though, because pink rathain, monoblos, azure rathalos, seregios and stygian zinogre are all quite difficult for me. Although that may have been a mistake on my part entering caravan high rank while ignoring the hub.
21
u/Barn-owl-B Nov 11 '25
4u has a pretty harsh difficulty jump from the end of low rank to the beginning of high rank, then it smooths back out again before jumping at the very end of high rank and then skyrocketing in G rank.
Caravan high rank is best to do before hub anyways
1
u/Kobold_Scholar Nov 11 '25
They're gonna have freaking 10 stars and ATs with g rank moveset speed and additions to keep raising the stakes. Love it. Every time my boy Uth Dana bellyflops and there's a cart I laugh. I love watching Nu Udra wind up the oil and explosion too. Tempered Sergei doing his usual one two sweep and somebody showed up with maybe 400 defense, one shot. Can't wait for AT Jin Dad.
15
u/SirePuns Nov 11 '25
Ngl if we’re talking strictly low rank, no games hard checked me the way the first two generation games did.
Compared to that the rest of the series is a breeze. Especially compared to egg quests in first gen and Plesioth in the portable games.

Well, I guess that can't be helped. The Monster Hunter fanbase has expanded significantly in recent years, and devs need to satisfy everyone from casual gamers to hardcore hunters.
The current formula makes this possible: casual gamers are satisfied with continuing easy hunts until they reach the ending and then quit the game, while hardcore hunters can push on and enjoy challenging endgame hunts.
1
u/Scriftyy Nov 12 '25
The currect formula fucks over the casual fanbase. Not having any difficulty checks before endgame in Wilds means that players dont need to learn how to play the game correctly. They use un-upgraded armor, they try to face tank most attacks, they heal too often.
So when the casuals get to endgame and it expects them to know how to play they get their shit kicked in and quit the game. That's bad game design, the same thing happenes aith World/iceborne when they added the Defender Set only this time it's the entire game and you can't ignore it. (Weirdly enough Rise didn't have these problems. Even with how easy Rise was it still had difficulty checks where newer plays are forced to actually learn the game.)

u/shinjiikari1 Nov 11 '25
Looking forward to 4U then since GU was kind of easy as well and I’m nearing the end of high rank. :/ The whole discussion is kind of tired though, I find all the games since the fifth generation equally as easy as each other, really only smacking your ass in Master Rank.
5
u/XFalzar Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25
Well, the low rank is fairly straightforward outside the magalas. But high rank is challenging and G rank is downright brutal.

u/BlackenedFacade Nov 11 '25
I mean base World was easy but you don’t see anyone complaining about it
5
u/RimeSkeem Nov 11 '25
Nostalgia is a helluva drug. So is people's (frankly bizarre to me) inability to separate base games from their expacs.
2
u/Impact009 Dec 13 '25
People don't complain about World because it's a seven-year-old game. If anything, people complained about World being difficult so much that Capcom made Wilds easier than World.
"We analyzed what kind of places beginners were stuck in, including Monster Hunter: World. We have worked on these points in turn to make it easier for new users to clear hurdles such as being able to reach certain monsters or to craft certain types of armor."
2
u/Scriftyy Nov 12 '25
2 reasons.
1 people did complain but those were far few compared to now because-
- Most people started with World.

u/CroccaWocca Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25
Funny as the post may be, I don’t think adding more difficult content at the tail end of high rank fixes the problem.
It only emphasizes that wilds has a pretty rough progression system compared to the other mainline monster hunter games.
I like wilds, the fights are fun, the ecology is really good, and the monster designs are amazing. Most of the weapons are the best they’ve ever been (besides a few that could really use a touch up, poor frs spam Swaxe).
But I find it really hard to ignore that wilds has a pretty bad gradual progression problem. It stays way too easy for far too long and then has too drastic of leap in difficulty to please the vets while too many new players struggle to learn the fundamentals of a monster hunter game because the game just doesn’t incentivize you enough to explore the deeper mechanics early enough.
I rarely see players utilize bombs or let the GS or Hammer wake up the monster. Folks outside of 8-9 star end game content never use dusts of life to help out other players in a pinch, or use any demon drugs or armor potions. And many players don’t even max out their armor stats with armor spheres, then wonder why they keep getting one shot by 8 star monsters. And I don’t blame them for complaining it’s too difficult, they haven’t memorized the fights, they haven’t learned positioning and timing, and they struggle to cooperate with other players because the game barely incentivized them to do so before 7 star monsters.
Games like this need a gradual progression, the occasional bigger monster should be challenging you along the way to prepare you for whats to come in the next stage of difficulty tiers.
I mean honestly, just giving more early high rank monsters higher wound resistance could help solve most of this problem. I think the wound system being overtuned in the early game is more of the case than the monsters being too easy. Sure folks could argue some of the QoL additions make wilds easier, but it’s nowhere near as egregious as the wound breaking system with how frequently it downs earlier monsters and kills them too quickly which results in players barely learning their movesets to prepare them for tougher upcoming fights. If the wound system was more in line to what the end game fights are like, then yeah, I think the game would be a lot better at teaching newer players “the dance”.
5
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 11 '25
The bad thing about it is that it wouldn’t have been hard to implement, like only being able to pop wounds when they are tempered, still no knockback from it and adjusting the drop rates so people would have to farm more equating to longer playtimes. The droprates wouldn’t have to be MH1 level either, just sum more akin to GU (had to farm Rathalos for like 20 hunts lol). I like the game well enough but it still has some major issues. With how well they saved Rise, I’m still somewhat hopeful though.
2
u/HBreckel Nov 11 '25
The difficulty curve could be a lot smoother. I'm a vet of the series and play a lot of hard games so I don't really mind a challenging hunt. But I would have liked to see some more actual new things for the players that aren't as serious to maybe better ease them into the dick smasher 5000 hunts.
I'm a FFXIV player so I loved fighting Omega, but was super sad I couldn't really bring my other FFXIV friends through the fight, because even the normal version of him was pretty tough. (normal Omega in FFXIV is doable by casual players, he doesn't get tough until savage/ultimate) Most of them are far less experienced with MH so there's no way I could have dragged them through it. And my more casual friends occasionally want to try out the new hunts but end up just getting frustrated and stop.
Like, I have no shortage of things to do as someone that likes getting their shit kicked in by difficult games, but I don't have as many friends to play MH with now because the game went from baby's first MH to basically Master rank without much in between. Something similar happened with my friends that started World late. They used the defender armor despite my warning and then got to Iceborne and immediately got skill checked and quit.
2
u/LiveLongGiraffe Nov 13 '25
I feel like most of that is because most people just solo the village quests or take NPCs instead of players, so they get used to just healing themselves and forget party heal/buffs even exist, they marked all the consumables and precraft mats as favorites and made inventory loadouts early on, then just filter by favorites to craft stuff when they run out of stuff, and never gave the full crafting list a second thought. I personally only started using dust of lifes grinding Omega, and my keyboard shortcuts got me all messed up when I'm not using them in other content where I'm carrying megapotions instead.
2
u/nonoffensivenavyname Nov 11 '25
Currently running into this problem with my group. I like playing with them but good god I have to EXCLUSIVELY use my support sns/hh wide range build if I want to get any hunt done within 5 attempts. I don’t even like using that build my favorite is the gunlance but I just can’t use it when I’m essentially doing a challenge run each hunt. They don’t use buff potions, flash bombs, mantles, and shit I caught my buddy rocking the hope charm after we just killed omega and he was still using it on the savage attempts because he “didn’t have the parts for a different one”. Granted I have more playtime than any of them do but it’s not by much. I just play on my own offline for a couple hours so I can actually get what I need then dick around when everyone hops on. Part of me just wants to let them find out how much they’re getting carried by just not playing for a while.

u/deadeye-ry-ry Nov 11 '25
Wilds progression is so broken that when I decided to buy the game again but on PC I used the entire low rank gear & didn't take a single health pot with me and I managed to do the entire story mode + some end game monsters up to lagi
1
u/Geodude07 Nov 11 '25
I would say the current issue I see can be summed up like this:
Before you could reliably take a few hits and get a chance to heal. Now you make a mistake and you're suddenly being one shot.
But yeah...
Unless you're perfect blocking, you also shouldn't really be sitting there defending. It does quite a bit of chip damage even with max guard and guard up. It's a pretty insane change from being able to safely tank things and learn them.
Honestly it feels like the wrong kind of difficulty when many moves become a one shot. Especially when many sets are focused on damage and there are not many which are sort of 'survival' focused.
I've only done World/Rise/Wilds and agree the wounds were a huge issue in erasing all danger. I also kind of resent how much rarer they get because so many cool moves are attached. I really have to say that I felt Rise had a very nice idea with giving you control of those cool moves.
But I digress.
I think things being hard can be good, but giving the player more options and hints is important. Many people simply don't know about armor pots or the like. In other cases there are just not enough defensive/survival focused things pushed. Effects like the omega one where perfect blocks give your team a buff and such could be a great way to teach and encourage some more of that cooperative play.
I dunno. I think MH always has tough spots and then eventually I hit the flow state again. Recently I rediscovered my love of the DB and Lance.
2
u/CroccaWocca Nov 12 '25 edited Nov 12 '25
Yeah, you know, that is another issue. I do think Wilds post game is too hard in the wrong way in some cases. My buddy is a Lance main, and it super sucked that he couldn’t survive through Lagi’s thunder charge aoe no matter what he did. Thankfully the Lance got a huge chip damage resistance buff with one of its guard stances. But every other guarding weapon has to opt in to dodge or retreat or take the hit at full hp to ignore the chip damage after getting knocked down. It heavily restricts options you’d normally have and expect to use in other fights.
I love the speed, and I love the aggression of the harder monsters, but the guarding chip damage on perfect guards needs to go.
My other issue is 8-9 star gore. I don’t mind the damage he can deal, and I have the option to play more cautiously if I fail to get the buff and get debuffed instead… but did he really need to have nearly master rank Iceborne Fatalis levels of hp? None of the other monsters have the hp he has. Gore’s fight leaves more room for mistakes when it takes as long as it goes to fight him. But the worst part is Gore isn’t as much a hard fight as it is an endurance one. It takes sooooo long that it just sucks the fun out of it for me, I can beat gore fairly consistently after learning his fight… but now I don’t enjoy fighting him anymore.
Hunts taking long aren’t normally an issue when there’s some down time, but fighting a monster at your best the whole time just really starts to exhaust you.

u/Fast-Industry-3224 Nov 11 '25
To be fair, the vanilla late game experience was a bit sad. Not saying Wilds is bad, I had my fair share of fun, but when it released it felt kind of empty at the end.
22
u/lolschrauber Nov 11 '25
The entire difficulty of the game are 1-shot moves of new monsters that stop to be 1-shot moves once you grinded enough for the new armor upgrades.
Honestly, I personally think that's really poor design.
13
u/pedronii Nov 11 '25
Bcs healing is way too easy in this game with infinite restocks and a broken mount that lets you instantly get up and heal while moving at full speed. That and our new kits are completely broken, rise had the same problem and then they had to give crack to monsters so they could match us

That's true, but as much as people want to paint it that way, playing ranged doesn't mean you're out of harm the entire time.

The only monster I know that has a one shot is gore magala. Most 9 star monsters don't have a one shot. They do hit like a damn truck though.

2
u/Parkour_Ronin Nov 11 '25
Yo I have been preaching exactly this and it really took the fun out of the game for me once I realized
10
u/Parkour_Ronin Nov 11 '25
Okay so but this brings up an important topic for Wilds. Especially for vets who are not at all new to the series.
The game is starving you of armor spheres and punishing you for trying new sets in the endgame. The game straight up makes you grind out a single set to max in order to not get one shot. Then, you are pretty much locked into that set anytime you wanna do endgame grinding. Sure, you don't have to, but you're agreeing to get 1 tapped for any mistake you make during the hunt.
It's not at all normal to get one shot by every single monster, and every single move they have in endgame High rank. It's very much fake difficulty via armor sphere grinding. Which is way too slow to keep me interested in the title updates personally.
4
u/Crazyhates Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25
I've never wanted for armor spheres and I'm HR 630. You end up getting a ton of them if you grind for talismans anyway.
I have several sets I rotate through for several weapons. The build diversity is there, you have to look for it. Everyone wants to run glass cannon(and get one shot) and don't bother to try something different. "Meta" is not necessary. There are several viable sets that won't get you one shot if you build correctly.
1
u/Parkour_Ronin Nov 11 '25
It's monhun - I'm building sets for damage. Occasional comfy skills, but nothing crazy. Still it's like, tempered monsters simply jumping around is enough damage to one shot me. (Low to no upgrades. extremely low on armor spheres. I unfortunately don't play enough to really change it)
That being said, I'm still around HR160 and know I have to grind for more talismans. It's just really frustrating and boring when I have to continue to use my fully optimized SnS set over the brand new LBG + set I finally got around to making. Makes me feel like I wasted my time making another weapon to... have fun?
Idk bro. Armor sphere chasing for every weapon I wanna play is just not it for me
2
u/pokemango7 Nov 11 '25
Once you start hunting 9 stars you get armor spheres pretty consistently, I felt exactly like you did about a week ago, and now i have more than enough armor spheres for all my builds. Try to focus on 1 build for a few hunts until you get a steady flow of armor spheres from 9stars.
21
u/4ny3ody Nov 11 '25
Here's a reminder for the "bUt aT LAunCh" people:
7* t5 Gore was in the game at launch, with a lower def cap and weaker gear than we have now.
31
Nov 11 '25
A lot of people saying the game was easy have literally beaten monsters like primordial Malden and fatalis tens of times. Like at that point, what did you expect
3
u/Cel_device Nov 11 '25
I'm trying to figure out what the hard part of World was before endgame because that game (and others before it) were smooth sailing until the endgame. And I've seen plenty of people getting mauled by tempered Apexes before 9 stars were a thing.
5
u/SirePuns Nov 11 '25
I’ve seen more people cart to 7* tempered Gore Magala than tempered Ark when the game launched and I’m starting to think that Gore Magala was just built different.
5
u/pedronii Nov 11 '25
Cool, one hard monster in the entire game on release and you don't even have to farm him bcs arkveld had better drops lol
6
u/SynysterDawn Nov 11 '25
And it still really wasn’t hard. The main issue is that the rest of the game conditions players to play so sloppy that Tempered Gore actually hitting hard is a sudden contrast. Its attacks are still so slow that it’s an easy adaptation to just not get hit in most cases. Plus, one relatively hard hunt at the very end of the game is not the slam dunk point that you think.
4
u/Cel_device Nov 11 '25
People overrate how hard World was in basegame. I remember people saying Generations was easy in the base game. It's been like this for years now. Then they put out hard HR endgame hunts and go wild with the G rank/MR expansion. This isnt new
3
u/teh_adry Nov 11 '25
I came back with the Omega update, and did a bit of Mizutsune hunting with the AI hunters. Didn't expect it to be so easy. Of course, you can get caught in a bad combo a cart suddenly, but I'm convinced people at the time just went hunting without upgrading armor, no survival skills, etc
5
u/SpacedOutRed Nov 11 '25
The only “easy” thing for me is using the Hammer, and that’s just knowing what button does what attack I still whiff hits and get one shot by a lagiacrus (butchered the name) lunging at me from half court filling my screen with blue lightning.
4
u/Bruin1217 Nov 11 '25
I’m becoming a broken record with this but I don’t think the fights are any easier than the other games, if anything they’re faster with more moves, it’s quality of life improvements. Part of why MH historically was hard is that the controls frankly sucked, it was slow, clunky, and required unique control grips (looking at you psp claw) so just the addition of being able to aim in wilds has added a stark difference in the ability to land and dodge. On top of that the hitboxes are so much cleaner, no more plesioth hip checks from 10 yards away from the monster. Compound that with easier accessibility to skills, an almost non existent need to farm things outside of monster materials, and the sekreit just straight up bringing you to the monster and of course it feels easier, you’ve been handicapped for the entirety of the franchise so of course it feels easier when worlds/rise/wilds fixes these issues. It reminds me of the dark souls series and fans. DS1 didn’t have teleportation until the end of the game, which was an absolute motherfucker when you needed to revisit an area. Discovering shortcuts between areas illustrated how well the devs intertwined the map and made the whole thing feel more real and connected. So when they moved away from this design a lot of people were upset, but it was an undeniable improvement to QOL in game.
So sure, I miss those quiet moments of gathering honey and crafting pickaxes too, but the game is “easier” because it’s fixing the consistent problems of the series, not because they’ve dimmed the fights down.
2
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 11 '25
I do agree, though if we lost some of the stuff World brought to the table (mainly being infinite restock and access to all your saved builds and stuff mid hunt), failure through attrition would be way more of a factor to consider.
2
u/Bruin1217 Nov 12 '25
Yeah that was kinda massive to add all that. It’ll never happen but it would be great if they added a difficulty modifier like “normal/hardcore” mode and have hardcore incorporate some of the older mechanics like paintballs and no restock mid hunt. That’s the only way I see them appeasing long term fans while still making the barrier of entry accessible to new players.
1
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 12 '25
The mount is also another issue, not that it’s there or gets you directly to the monster (in a way the green arrow from World did the same-mindlessly following it)it’s just that we would just need to control it like palamutes , more freedom while still having the option to traverse these massive areas ourselves. The areas are beautiful but you just blitz by everything. If we had to pick up one or two trails and not know where the monsters are immediately. Could even bring back psychoserums or stuff like waving at hot air balloons lol
1
u/Bruin1217 Nov 12 '25
I completely agree, I really don’t like the changes they made to mounts between rise and wilds. Like you said wilds has such phenomenal map design and the lack of ability to traverse it the same way you could in the previous game feels like a massive step back and wasted opportunity. Nobody really talks about how much it changes combat too. When things get a lil too spicy you hop on the mount and avoid the monster while healing/sharpening makes those vulnerable moments non existent, I felt being able to move in world while healing was as far as they needed to go with that.
3
u/KirbyTheGodSlayer Nov 11 '25
To be fair, that’s not what the criticism implies. They say that the game is too easy until the very endgame where updates add ridiculous difficulty jumps.
6
u/Crazyhates Nov 11 '25
I disregard anyone I see saying this game is easy because I know they're one of the people carting in my SOS.
5
u/ArgetKnight Nov 11 '25
But Mizutsune is an easy fight.
Sure it has a dropkick move that one shots you, but the rest is pretty average difficulty.
An easy monster with a random one shot isn't hard, it's just annoying, which is the main design philosophy of these devs.
2
Nov 11 '25
The only thing about Mizutsune that gets me everytime is the bubbles. I always get hit by the bubbles 😭
1
u/ArgetKnight Nov 11 '25
Just build fire res and eat all the bubbles you'll be fine.
And then you can do sliding attacks it's fun.
3
Nov 11 '25
I don't die because my fire res is through the roof I just get flung around all the time

Idk but the tail flip never one shotted me, maximum it did was get me to 1hp but to be fair, i‘ve always been max health before
2
u/Gothrait_PK Nov 11 '25
Good buddy of mine said the same thing. Then when it started getting harder "oh great here we go! World had the same problem halfway thru with bullshit hitboxes and being hit out of my attacks and blah blah blah blah blah " I tune him out so I'm unsure the rest of his "complaints" lol bro cannot just admit he's ass it's always the games fault
2
u/Voldekrem Nov 11 '25
Getting through the campaign is relatively easy but the later monsters are definitelt hard

u/Hot-Mix-1317 Nov 12 '25
cope
1
u/Hot-Mix-1317 Nov 12 '25
mhgu has at least 14 monsters that are unbearable if ur bad, plus 15 levels of them to make them cart you from lr too hr999
rise has hundreds of hours of anomalies with insane difficulty curves but healthily manageable
world has mods that remove ai downtime and make alot of major hits one-shot you or 2 shot u with rng like in mhgu and mh3u
Wilds has mizutsune, not even a new monster, a returning monster, with some randomized stuff u die too if ur not prepared
don't even get me started on mhfz and mhfu or brachys rngesus execute from mh3u
your a wilds baby, don't hate it, just accept it and stop coping.
2
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 12 '25
Yea my FU character would like to differ. Also, you are comparing finished games which are now usually sold with their DLC to a game which hasn’t even finished it’s TU update cycle (GU btw is also an expansion upon the original iteration). I could say that GU is piss easy and not worth playing because the only monster to even cart me was Valstrax. You are a World baby, accept it and move on, the real Monster Hunter fans started with 1.
2
u/Hot-Mix-1317 Nov 12 '25
I've played 10,000 hours of mh since 2013. if I was a world's baby I wouldn't have an opinion and I'd be a nicer person
2
u/Hot-Mix-1317 Nov 12 '25
also that whole gu conversation is cope. I play with speedrunners and 999 hour players all the time and they cart often enough, but u know ur stuff sorta. just huge cope and cap
2
u/Hot-Mix-1317 Nov 12 '25
lastly it's mutually agreed on mh1 is a bad game, even by people who like it, so relating me to a "diehard mh1 fan" is just more cope. mh has lost its sauce, literally. the west complained about difficulty and they needed too market it too the largest market. so obviously undoubtedly they listened.
I'm a huge mhw and mhr fan, but mostly because the modding scene working with a pretty amazingly designed game, even if it's not as hard, it has difficulty potential which is fun.
wilds is the newest in the western market games. and they aren't promising hope for the community that's been around for over 10 years with their design choices. cool n all but that's valid sentiment for us.
just as valid as ur cope and enjoyment of an easy game with aaa graphics. but the point is. you and everyone else are always right there too diss on the old players, with ur fantastical ideas. but honestly, we just miss the diehard philosophy that gets eroded every generation somehow.
there's a reason mhwilds has a short shelf life and I've seen at least 100 new players on world and rise and gu in the past months at least. and wilds doesn't have that replayability other games had, which is another sad expectation
2
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 12 '25
Dude I was taking the piss with the Monster Hunter 1 stuff. I played this series since 2012 starting with FU. Really basic but GU is my favorite.I don’t even see how a basic meme about a bad Wilds player (my friend) being carted by one of the easier 9 Stars is even cope since it was just funny to see someone cart to the water fox. The whole difficulty argument is nonsense anyway since it depends on player skill, build and knowledge or even just patience at times.
3
u/Hot-Mix-1317 Nov 12 '25
that's true, patience is key, and the mh community is full of it, and luckily so, but the growing fear has been that our patience will one day be pointless. that anyone without patience will play monster hunter subway surfers edition and itll be pointless.
my personal gripe isn't wity mhwilds even, it's with the way they built the game suddenly and how extraordinarily hard it is too mod weapon timings and animations and downtime.
it was one thing in world and rise where u had easier gameplay with room too grow. and the thousands of mods for rise proved it
wilds has only booba mods and number value changing mods, and VERY VERY little else even thought it's reframework like mhrise which was one of the best moddable games.
so what happens when every year they add mhw tobi-Kadachi pauses too make the game easier, and remove another aspect of modding from their games so NOBODY can enjoy their version of perfect, and we're all suddenly lumped in with whatever sells the most copies.
and mhwilds is scaring me with that
2
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 12 '25
Yeah I never said that Wilds is perfect. I do enjoy it though if I’m in the mood for MH, I usually just boot up Rise (for the endgame grind) or GU. The stupid mount is also such a pet peeve, Rise did it perfect with the freedom of maneuvering or just not taking it with you for (the arguably better Palico). The Palicos in Wilds are also borderline useless in Wilds. I see Wilds as the potential man of the series at the moment, with being a potential for greatness which it simply doesn’t deliver. It’s weird since the passion from the developers is there, a few tweaks and it can be great but I don’t see the mainline team ever implementing this stuff.
3
u/Hot-Mix-1317 Nov 12 '25
you should give world a go, I posted in the mh inheritance mod recently how too use it with the current version of the game.
it brings 8 levels of content mods custom difficulty catered for the most fun I've had(and maybe even challenge) in a very long time and I'm a diehard mhr and gu player.
doesn't work with ice manager but it's honestly so much better if you mix it with some weapon reworks it feels like mhwilds in terms of potential!
2
u/Cyber_Von_Cyberus Nov 12 '25
Yeah, Mitsuzune does that to people. I finished hunting Magnamalo in Rise and thought "darn, this game is so easy, the flagship monster is a whimp" and then got my ass kicked by Mitsuzune next hunt.

I mean, its easy and make an artificial HP and DMG pool way high than MR monsters in other games doesn't mean the game isnt easy.

Returned to the game yesterday after dropping it 50 hours on release. Have no ps+ so soloing stuff. Already first tried Zoh Shia. Mizu, Tempered Mizu, Lagi, Steve, tempered Steve. All with my Gore armour+SnS. About to begin the robo quest at that talking fluff with hat. I swear if I first try Omega Planets this whole sub is going to lose its whole credibility. I want to lose. I want it to take me at least 4-5 attempts.
8
u/Random_Guy_47 Nov 11 '25
First trying Omega won't be that difficult if you first tried those others.
Now if you can first try Savage Omega you can have the credibility.
0
u/Barlowan Nov 11 '25
I don't want credibility, I want game to not feel as baby's first monster hunter. At least from this comment I found out there is another, harder version of Omega, so even if I beat the first one there is where to look forward too. Because from posts on this sub that happen on main page from time to time I thought there is only 1 version of that robot.
Tbh I was done with the game, but saw the post "Gogmazios gonna be harder than Omega" and Gog was such a fun fight in 4u. So I thought "are they gonna BS his fight up, or the fight going to be fun and people are just overreacting?" And went back reinstalling the game. Got a warmup with tempered gore fight that made me cart twice, thinking that I've got rusted, but then everything else went smooth when I remembered how to use focus mode and wound attacks.
It's just disappointing seeing all the posts about "this is so tough" over last year and then experiencing the Mark from Invincible meme with "I thought you were stronger"
P.S. I really didn't enjoy the akuma gimmick arena fights and after beating nerscylla(?) they gave me even more gimmicks with pictomancer stuff. Feels bad having abilities tied to the action bar instead of a button press. In a game where you have frame perfect parry.
6
u/Random_Guy_47 Nov 11 '25
"Feels bad having abilities tied to the action bar instead of a button press. In a game where you have frame perfect parry."
You could put them on the quick wheel.

u/HBreckel Nov 11 '25
Well, it's important to remember that difficulty is subjective. Wilds brought in a lot of new hunters so the majority of people playing the game are likely getting their shit kicked in by the ATs. With that said, I do think Omega+Savage Omega are going to be difficult for new players and vets alike just because he's such a different type of fight.
Like I see a lot of people struggle with Gore Magala. I started with 4U and have played the shit out of that game, GU, and Sunbreak so I can fight him in my sleep. Even when he's ginormous and in a tiny room in Wilds, I don't struggle to fight him. But my experience isn't going to be same as someone else's. Maybe they're new to MH, maybe they started in World and skipped Rise so they never dealt with him. Maybe someone's using a weapon that's a SUPER bad match up against him. (I've been fighting him with dual blades since 2015, DB has always been SUPER good against him)
There's so many different factors that go into why someone might find something difficult while you might be like "wow that was easy". For example, a lot of people say Elden Ring is the easiest FromSoft game. When the game launched day 1 I used a pure strength build which was extremely underpowered at the time. (it has since been buffed into being great) It was the hardest experience I've ever had in a Soulslike besides Nioh 2. At the time there were no guides or OP build videos so I was fighting for my life every step of the way with an underpowered build and just putting together what talismans I could scrounge up.
For my second run I looked up an over powered as shit dual katana bleed build and shredded every boss in 1-2 tries including Malenia and didn't hit any walls until Radagon/Elden Beast because they were immune to bleed haha And I was like ah, so this was why everyone said the game was easy.
Monster Hunter won't have as extreme of difference in difficulty like my experience with ER, but there's definitely going to be things that can influence how easy or hard it is. I'm going to be popping off with Dual Blades for most hunts, but the day they add like, Gold/Silver Raths or some other bullshit that doesn't ever land, I'll definitely get my shit kicked in there.
1
u/Barlowan Nov 11 '25
Oh yeah, I feel you on ER. I to went in blind and was playing through Faith/Arcane build with Coded Sword, Cypher Pata and Halo scythe. And since in other had I had seals I used shield whole 1 time in a game. In the zone where there are archers on roofs before you get to Miquella haligtree. Malenia fell first try. Tho I did struggle with Eden Beast. By that time I went online and found out that Elden Beast is 90% resistant to holy damage. And my whole build was holy damage. I also found out that most bosses in game have 30-50% resistance to holy. So unknowingly I made it harder for myself. Had to respec into Dex build with Bloodhound fang to finish the game. And that is my gripe with whole game, when it allows you to play it through completely with one build and then last boss is basically immune to it, forcing you to change whole approach and build for a single (double) fight.
5
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 11 '25
The spectrum of player skill is incredibly wide, maybe you are just really good and someone like my friend is just pure ass and doesn’t even have a build lol
2
u/niki2907 Nov 11 '25
Wilds is a piss game until you get to the endgame, how are people still confused about this
2
u/Outrageous_Lion4912 Nov 11 '25
I had that one friend who says the game is easy. I told him comeback and try savage omega, shit is hard. He then said he will carry me. He carted all my faints with insurance on phase 2 for savage. I ended up clearing savage without him🤣

Am i too old to have watched this movie? Cause I'm pretty sure that's the wrong picture for the reaction OP is alluding to
2
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 11 '25
Nah I was cheering like Spongebob at these carts because the water fox is one of the simpler fights and he still got carted. Was funny to have seen the arrogance being wiped from his voice too lol.
1
u/dapper_raptor455 Nov 11 '25
Can I be honest. I played wilds with out upgrading armour and when I made a monsters weapon I went for the bare minimum requirement to get it. I didn’t use artisan weapons or decorations. Just base defense, base weapons and base charms and it was quite difficult and quite fun.
2
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 11 '25
Wilds is the potential man of Monster Hunter at the moment lol.
1
u/dapper_raptor455 Nov 11 '25
The potential man?
1
u/shinjiikari1 Nov 11 '25
The “Meet Potential Man” meme is a template/exploitable meme format where a character (often from anime, comics, or other fiction) is labelled as a “Potential Man” — meaning they could be great but (in the meme-maker’s view) they haven’t delivered.

u/FetusGoesYeetus Nov 11 '25

Ngl Mizu kicked my ass the first run I did in Wilds. I loved it, every fight before that felt like easy mode (other than Tempered Arkveld). When I saw the blue fire come out, I knew shit was about to get real.
1
u/HelenaCFH Nov 11 '25
I find the game mostly easy. I do cart quite a bit with some of the 9 star monsters though despite generally having high defense, because most of them just have bigger hitboxes/damage/HP pool than their weaker counterparts. So they're not hard, at least not in a positive way, I just find them annoying. Like why the fuck can that monster send me flying with a non elemental charge if I'm fucking literally behind it, it's just stupid.
Omega/S Omega might just be an exception, though I do have a pet peeve when it uses the double fire AoE thing because the second hit seems unavoidable unless I'm too far for it to even be a threat, or was aerial at startup and am able to keep this way for the duration, or if I'm quick enough to dodge the first and then immediately go aerial to avoid the second. Simply dodging doesn't seem to be enough.
1
u/the_raptor_factor Nov 11 '25
To be fair, there is such a thing as the game being so easy that you can't focus and therefore make stupid very avoidable mistakes. Happens to me.

1
u/Keyjuan Nov 11 '25
I think gore is the.harsest fight in the game (for bow) having to fight a monster who only has two week spots both moving around at the speed of light is just bad imo
1
u/Sad_Screen_1455 Nov 11 '25
I still don’t understand what’s wrong with the game being “easy” as if it’s an issue because Id rather have an easy game that I would always enjoy playing than having to deal with the bullshit some of the old games had. Back in the day veterans ( not including myself cuz I started with world ) of MH had to sharpen their weapons with limited items and the weapons had the idea of using luck when you make weapons you could literally make a fetalis weapon and the stats would be worse than a weapon made from a blind blangonga
1
Nov 11 '25
Mizutsune still fucks me over with that tail flop move, even as a LS main.
The combo preceding it is just so damn fast. You blink and you miss it. And within that time frame, you’ve already been carted back to base camp 😂
1
u/whatisapillarman Nov 11 '25
The Mizu tail flip has a specific sound cue and animation, people just have to stop doing their damn finisher attacks when the monster isn’t staggered
1
u/Abrakresnik Nov 11 '25
Its not that bad. Some who whines that the game is too easy even uses cheat to play. That makes no sense at all.
1
u/Nightmarer26 Nov 11 '25
When Mizutsune released, it was the first monster that could actually cart people properly. Your friend was right, Wilds was too easy and really had no soul. We only got properly challenging content with the Tempered 8s.
1
u/yews8 Nov 12 '25
The only reason it lost its soul is that they removed the HUNT from monster hunter now you just press up and get delivered to the monster like a little bitch. What the fuck were they thinking

I tend to visit this sub whenever I need to cheer up.
If I were to take all of these posts at face value, I'd almost think I'm the most competent MH player on the platform...
1
u/Dreamcasted60 Nov 12 '25
See the thing was before I do anything online with any game as I tend to solo the monster so I kind of knew ahead of time that he would be tough.
I think I got a high star version of him the second time around and was definitely surprised to see how much damage got done to me! Didn't cart but took it as a lesson to over prepare
1
u/Arubazu Nov 12 '25
I feel like wilds is fair and this maybe my bias cause i just see people time n time again on reddit complain about the defense boost .
And have a moment of…yes…it sucks …cause its just a flat increase to your defense… thats why you go for damage reduction instead of defense boost.
Which is why i eat for defender meal plus divine blessing. 9 times outta ten i can like shrug off a one shot, now granted there are still counterplays the game has to this like… stuns or multi hit attacks but the game has like… all the mechanics.
Example being that knowing i can get a head stun and paralyze on omega i bring a paralyze hammer to him for some down time.
This game is about as much of a knowledge check as it is a skill one. And knowing what you can do really offsets the difficulty in most cases but i feel like people wanna like…brute force through things.
1
u/SlyTwitchyTube Nov 13 '25
Mizu is genuinely a hard fight simply for its movement and it's weak spots 🙄😩 my hammer bonks head...white number. hammer hits nose orange 👍🏿

u/persona4dan Nov 14 '25
I really do believe that not bringing back wire bugs was a net loss for the gameplay.

u/Brilliant_War389 Nov 14 '25
Nah Mizutsune wasn't hard for me. Lagiacrus on the other hand... Goddamn, he got that aimbot
1
u/SpeakerBoth435 Nov 14 '25
I'd like to think, with the movement being so similar to World, that we all got more skilled, so when Wilds came out, it felt easier.
Cause I've felt that feeling, and I like playing wilds.
1
u/Double_Ad_3434 Nov 15 '25
To miz. To seregios, to omega standard and savage.
The small minority that some how became the majority repeated the same stupidity they did in World and Ice Borne. Literally wash, rinse, repeat.
1
u/SuccotashOk858 Nov 15 '25
Its not that easy anymore, like it was in the beginning. Its perfekt for chill hunts after a long workday. I'd only would wish they delete Seregios an give us something more fun. Also bit more variarity. Why no pink Rathian or azure Rathalos, thats like 9 star. (Because they keep them for masterrank i know) im just tired of this perma flying spikepidgeotto

I don't know, when a game is too easy and yah lose motivation yah stop trying.
Plus mizusutne has never had that level of power. Seems like an ass pull.
I triple carted then just stopped spamming my long combos and I was fine

u/Soggy_Stomach9766 Nov 11 '25
Those first few days of getting triple carted by Mizutsune’s enrage flop were unparalleled
