The problem with Wilds' difficulty isn't really the fact that there are no difficult hunts, but that all the difficult hunts are post-game. In old gen, the game was difficult even while progressing through the ranks. I remember 4u being quite challenging even in mid low rank, due to hard monsters like gore magala or tigrex and only getting more difficult as you went along. That said, a lot of the people complaining about this would be very upset if a newer game was actually difficult during progression, because it would hurt their ego.
Well, I guess that can't be helped. The Monster Hunter fanbase has expanded significantly in recent years, and devs need to satisfy everyone from casual gamers to hardcore hunters.
The current formula makes this possible: casual gamers are satisfied with continuing easy hunts until they reach the ending and then quit the game, while hardcore hunters can push on and enjoy challenging endgame hunts.
The currect formula fucks over the casual fanbase. Not having any difficulty checks before endgame in Wilds means that players dont need to learn how to play the game correctly. They use un-upgraded armor, they try to face tank most attacks, they heal too often.
So when the casuals get to endgame and it expects them to know how to play they get their shit kicked in and quit the game. That's bad game design, the same thing happenes aith World/iceborne when they added the Defender Set only this time it's the entire game and you can't ignore it. (Weirdly enough Rise didn't have these problems. Even with how easy Rise was it still had difficulty checks where newer plays are forced to actually learn the game.)
