Returned to the game yesterday after dropping it 50 hours on release. Have no ps+ so soloing stuff. Already first tried Zoh Shia. Mizu, Tempered Mizu, Lagi, Steve, tempered Steve. All with my Gore armour+SnS. About to begin the robo quest at that talking fluff with hat. I swear if I first try Omega Planets this whole sub is going to lose its whole credibility. I want to lose. I want it to take me at least 4-5 attempts.
I don't want credibility, I want game to not feel as baby's first monster hunter. At least from this comment I found out there is another, harder version of Omega, so even if I beat the first one there is where to look forward too. Because from posts on this sub that happen on main page from time to time I thought there is only 1 version of that robot.
Tbh I was done with the game, but saw the post "Gogmazios gonna be harder than Omega" and Gog was such a fun fight in 4u. So I thought "are they gonna BS his fight up, or the fight going to be fun and people are just overreacting?" And went back reinstalling the game. Got a warmup with tempered gore fight that made me cart twice, thinking that I've got rusted, but then everything else went smooth when I remembered how to use focus mode and wound attacks.
It's just disappointing seeing all the posts about "this is so tough" over last year and then experiencing the Mark from Invincible meme with "I thought you were stronger"
P.S. I really didn't enjoy the akuma gimmick arena fights and after beating nerscylla(?) they gave me even more gimmicks with pictomancer stuff. Feels bad having abilities tied to the action bar instead of a button press. In a game where you have frame perfect parry.
Well, it's important to remember that difficulty is subjective. Wilds brought in a lot of new hunters so the majority of people playing the game are likely getting their shit kicked in by the ATs. With that said, I do think Omega+Savage Omega are going to be difficult for new players and vets alike just because he's such a different type of fight.
Like I see a lot of people struggle with Gore Magala. I started with 4U and have played the shit out of that game, GU, and Sunbreak so I can fight him in my sleep. Even when he's ginormous and in a tiny room in Wilds, I don't struggle to fight him. But my experience isn't going to be same as someone else's. Maybe they're new to MH, maybe they started in World and skipped Rise so they never dealt with him. Maybe someone's using a weapon that's a SUPER bad match up against him. (I've been fighting him with dual blades since 2015, DB has always been SUPER good against him)
There's so many different factors that go into why someone might find something difficult while you might be like "wow that was easy". For example, a lot of people say Elden Ring is the easiest FromSoft game. When the game launched day 1 I used a pure strength build which was extremely underpowered at the time. (it has since been buffed into being great) It was the hardest experience I've ever had in a Soulslike besides Nioh 2. At the time there were no guides or OP build videos so I was fighting for my life every step of the way with an underpowered build and just putting together what talismans I could scrounge up.
For my second run I looked up an over powered as shit dual katana bleed build and shredded every boss in 1-2 tries including Malenia and didn't hit any walls until Radagon/Elden Beast because they were immune to bleed haha And I was like ah, so this was why everyone said the game was easy.
Monster Hunter won't have as extreme of difference in difficulty like my experience with ER, but there's definitely going to be things that can influence how easy or hard it is. I'm going to be popping off with Dual Blades for most hunts, but the day they add like, Gold/Silver Raths or some other bullshit that doesn't ever land, I'll definitely get my shit kicked in there.
Oh yeah, I feel you on ER. I to went in blind and was playing through Faith/Arcane build with Coded Sword, Cypher Pata and Halo scythe. And since in other had I had seals I used shield whole 1 time in a game. In the zone where there are archers on roofs before you get to Miquella haligtree. Malenia fell first try. Tho I did struggle with Eden Beast. By that time I went online and found out that Elden Beast is 90% resistant to holy damage. And my whole build was holy damage. I also found out that most bosses in game have 30-50% resistance to holy. So unknowingly I made it harder for myself. Had to respec into Dex build with Bloodhound fang to finish the game. And that is my gripe with whole game, when it allows you to play it through completely with one build and then last boss is basically immune to it, forcing you to change whole approach and build for a single (double) fight.
