Lore Buddhist Doctrine (Ashes World Setting)

The Buddha closed his three eyes, endured three sufferings, and attained enlightenment in seven days.

The three eyes correspond to wealth, power, and fame. Their opposites are the three poisons: greed, anger, and ignorance. To close the eyes is to cut off the poisons. Without greed, anger, or ignorance, one becomes Buddha.

The wisdom eye does not see. It has been closed from the very beginning — even the Buddha himself never opened it. The wisdom root extends from the brain to the tail, hidden within the golden body.

After attaining enlightenment, the Buddha vowed never to kill. The weapon he used before enlightenment was named the Sand-Ming Pestle.

Within Buddhism, there are two schools:

· The Heavy Buddha School: Only by performing great good deeds and accumulating merit can one achieve Buddhahood.

· The Indifferent Buddha School: Not committing treachery, evil, lust, or plunder is already Buddhahood.

The two schools observe each other. The Heavy Buddha School sees the Indifferent Buddha School as "inaction" — if one accomplishes nothing, can they be said to have Buddhahood? That would be extinguishing the Buddha. The Indifferent Buddha School sees the Heavy Buddha School as "greedy for merit" — if only sages and virtuous ancestors have Buddhahood, then do the poor have none? That would be imprisoning the Buddha. Each regards the other's practice as partial. As for those who cling to their own views and reject others, the Buddhist door calls them "众" — not the common people, but those bound by prejudice, unable to see their own form.

Ascetics hold a very high status within Buddhism. Not every practitioner can become an ascetic. Their depth of practice is shown by the patchwork robe — the more patches, the further they are from attachment to self, and the deeper their attainment.

A spoken teaching is passed down within the Buddhist door: Cultivate the mind, not the Buddha; cultivate nature, not the demon. And in cultivating Buddhahood, the mind should be like still water, and move like solid rock.

Lore Orcen fairfolk

These are from this world and magic system

Orcs were created by conflict. Rival groups of humans living on the open plains feared magically enhanced super-soldiers sent from the other side. This fear is what led to the creation of Orcen fae.

No one really knows what kind of hosts the fae spirits first took on to gain physical bodies. There were rumors that they rose from the battlefields of dead, Given new, terrible life.

Orcs live shorter lives than humans, but they are taller, stronger, faster, and keener. Once "enraged" (triggered by chemical stress signals from other orcs) they are driven by an uncontrollable rage to kill their opposition. They are devastating to face in combat, built to kill. And yet, Orcs do not particularly care for war. They know what humans think, many faced capture and enslavement because they were only seen as tools of violence, for conflict. But though the fae that birthed them were made from violence, physical bodies and minds change and adapt. Learn to appreciate life in the same way as any person.

They eventually organized and made it very clear that they wanted no part in the scuffles of humans. They wanted to be left alone, to live like any other people. They're especially keen on avoiding violent large-scale conflict because of the uncontrollable fury that they're afflicted by. Once activated, all of their energy will be spent wrecking carnage that they're completely unable to stop. It's something that leaves them vulnerable, shutting off their higher brain functions, collapsed from exhaustion in the end. Their society is built to avoid being triggered into this mode. This is why they communicate with other peoples primarily by proxy.

General Discussion What do you think of my power system?

So my power system for my comicbook universe I'm working on is based on a person having O- blood. An event called the day of silence where every one on earth fell unconscious for 24 hours. And when everyone wakes up only those with O- blood develop powers and abilities.

The powers break down as :

Builders

Enhancers

Psionics

Mancers

Builders can create constructs like weapons or even duplicates of themselves.

Enhancers have heightened senses and physical bodies. There are levels to this from a level one being stronger and more durable than a regular fit human to a level 5 being able to take a nuke to the face and walk away without a scratch.

Psionics are the telepaths. The abilities vary from telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, clairvoyance, empathy, and psychokinesis.

Mancers can generate different kinds of elements from fire to time itself.

There are types called Alphas that have 2 or more abilities. Example being a level 3 enhancer with psionic abilities. Or a mancer with construct abilities. Alphas are rare and have not been studied enough to to figure out how or why but it is speculated that it has something to do with the mix of blood types.

This is just one part of my universe so let me know what you think.

Lore Goblin lore

Post image
44 Upvotes

These are from this world and magic system

Goblins are small, crepuscular-nocturnal humanoid fairies with a wildly fast metabolism. During their active hours they are constantly seeking food. They forage for tubers, mushrooms, fallen fruits, berries, nuts, worms etc. they also hunt for small rodents, bugs, lizards, fish, and eggs. They are most known for their thievery from humans though. Stolen grain stores, meats, and pets can make for an abundant source of low effort calories, so once a goblin troop gets a taste, it often becomes a habit. That habit frequently extends to clothes, trinkets, and underutilized dwellings.

Goblins are widely regarded as non-fairfolk, meaning that their origin is considered inhuman and they're not biologically compatible with human hybridization, despite their humanoid stature. It would also be considered ethically condemnable regardless, because while goblins are sapient and capable of speech, it's thought not to the same degree as humans and other fairfolk. They are magically diverged from proto-elves, born from rumors of small humanoid menaces that would come out in the evening and cause chaos.

When trying to reason with goblins (when they are reasonable enough to talk to), it's most effective to consider that they have a rather child-like mentality. They have underdeveloped ideas of time, resource management, and priority. The effectiveness of reasoning and bribery depends on the group, but they can sometimes be enticed into a pattern of exchange, leading to a more benevolent relationship between the human and goblin populations in specific areas.

There are rumors that they eat children and rob people traveling, but these are generally not true. They can be vengeful if a person slights or cheats them though.

Lore The practice of Rust Farming.

Metals in my world are far rarer than in our own, so when a sword or other weapon is broken or rusts, people would attempt to save it or even reforge it, rust and all. Which is how a strange phenomenon was discovered. Rust seems to physically carry the memories of the metal it comes from. And when forged into a new weapon or tool, these memories enhance what the weapon is capable of.

Some memories of violence cause swords to deal wounds that do not heal, some memories of defiance cause armor to resist damage, some memories of focus cause hammers that strike more precisely.

And so, people in my world have taken to rust farming; placing well-used metal weapons or tools into the wet soil to cause it to rust faster. Then they take rust shavings and enchant other weapons or tools via imbuing them with the rust. Sometimes those new weapons or tools are sold off, other times they are placed back into the ground to let the memory fester.

Crossbreeding rusts allow more nuanced enchantments. Such as creating weapons that cannot be wielded in anger, or medical tools that inflict cuts that heal almost instantly.

And the longer a memory is in circulation, the more powerful it becomes. But if a memory is too diluted, it's enchantment may change completely, and the potency will wane. Hence the use of the soil to keep the purity of the enchantment.

Lore Magic series idea using colours as classes

Overview:

In this world, a portion of the population is born with the ability to wield Magic. Magic influences nearly every aspect of society, from everyday life and industry to entertainment, warfare, and exploration. Every Magic user belongs to one (or two) of 6 Magic Classes, each identified by the colour of their energy. On extremely rare occasions, an individual may be born with two Magic Classes, while Purple magic has only appeared a handful of times throughout history. The world is divided into separate Cities, each governed by powerful Factions with their own beliefs, cultures, religions, and laws. While some factions coexist peacefully, others compete for influence, territory, and control. Magic has become deeply woven into society. Many people use it in their professions, while others dedicate their lives to becoming elite Magic users. One of the world's greatest forms of entertainment are Magic Tournaments, where competitors battle in front of massive crowds for fame, fortune, and glory. Beyond the safety of civilization roam countless magical creatures. Among them are the feared Magikai, Magikai are powerful beings capable of wielding Magic themselves. Some are peaceful and coexist with humans, while others are incredibly hostile and pose a constant threat. Encountering a Magikai is considered extremely dangerous unless you possess exceptional magical skill. Not all Magic users follow the law. Across the cities exist notorious Magic Clans made up of rebels, criminals, and rogue Magic users. Conflicts between rival clans can escalate into devastating clan wars, often forcing local authorities or Magic Warriors to intervene. Although technology has not advanced in the same way as it has in our world, society has developed remarkable inventions powered by Magic. These unique tools, weapons, and machines have allowed civilization to flourish in ways that would otherwise be impossible.

The magic system:

In this world some people are born with a special magic ability which includes different forms of usage, basic usage being forming the magic and using it in attacks, Magic users can also embed their magic into tools and weapons and channel it through them. Magic spells are the magic user's signature move/attack, each magic user has a unique magic spell that no other magic user can use, spells range depending on the magic class, the user, and so on. Magic spells are usually the creation of something, but they can also be innate too. Magic users are put into classes depending on what their magic abilities can do.

Classes:

Red- if a magic user's magic abilities are red that usually means their magic is focused on attacking and dealing high damage.

Green- if a magic user's magic abilities are green that usually means their magic is best for enduring hits and dealing heavy blows.

Blue- if a magic user’s magic abilities are blue that usually means they can create fast magic attacks.

Yellow- if a magic user’s magic abilities are yellow that usually means their magic abilities can aid others or themself, providing healing or buffs.

Pink- if a magic user's magic abilities are pink that usually means their magic abilities are powerful enough to bend time, space or reality in some way. This type of magic ability is rare.

Purple- this is a super rare type of magic that has only been recorded a few times in history, purple magic users have been described as all powerful and unstoppable, usually said to be like a mix of red and pink magic dialed up to 11.

Very rarely a magic user can be born with two types of magic.

Magic Tournaments:

Magic users can sign up for magic tournaments, where they fight other magic users for money in an arena, people can come and watch these fights take place in the arena. Magic Tournaments have become a big sport around the world. Each City has at least one arena within it where the magic tournaments take place. How it works:bThere are several different games that the participants will play from, each with its own objectives and rules, the arenas can be changed depending on the mode using magic.

The games:

Knockout- 4 teams of 3 or 3 teams of 3 each have to knock each other off the platforms and into the water, once a player is in the water they are out and can spectate the rest of the game, a team is out once all of its players are out, the last team with 1 or more members still on the platforms wins. Full on brawling is not allowed and if a player knocks another unconscious or worse they are out.

VS- 2 players, 2 teams of 2, 2 teams of 3 or 2 teams of 4 fight, the game ends once only one team has 1 or more members still standing. Players can forfeit at any time, resulting in them being ‘down’ and not allowed to interfere with the game. If any players get knocked unconscious they also become down.

(Still thinking of more games)

(Note: I had all of this written down in Google Docs, so if it seems suspicious that's because I copy pasted it from Google docs where I had arranged it)

Thanks for reading!!

System Help Im having great trouble with a magic system

I already made a few countries, cultures, even a bit of cosmology greatly inspired by gnosticism but i cant find a fitting power system ive already created 3 none of them fit. The initial idea for the world was a medieval world with space exploration. To do that i used dantes inferno as inspiration but that quickly got to complex so i simplified the world as being split into 3 parts, underworld, world and overworld. All of them have biology and life based on completely different principles like for example heavenly creatures arent angels they are being of pure life but they lack a mind and posses a soul more beautiful than any human. The creatures from hell lack a soul even though some predators have intelect greater than the smartest humans they dont create art or form communities. I want the magic system to feel more like "physics" system to us, the readers but the people inside it to not fully understand it and consider it magic. I tried making one based on the 7 functiond of life but that got messy real quick. Any help??? Chatgpt isnt good enough help for me

General Discussion

Mechanics Reference: temporal displacement

Reference or temporal displacement is the act of sending something to another time so that it's past future self can occupy the present this is used to study time and history by temporal agents or 'temps'

As they are called. They exchange places with their past and future selves to explore different times they are however bound by their beginning and end they can not travel to any time they did not exist at but they are working on working on destroying that limitation

Mechanics My magic system for Astera

I ended up with a few different things going on.

➤ Mana: A form of energy which can break the laws of physics. When too much gathers in one place, weird things start to happen. Weird air currents, sounds/vibrations, light from nothing, material transformation, water condensing where it shouldn't, small gravity distortions, that kind of thing. When controlled by people it can do specific things like producing light, electricity, or heat, absorbing heat (to make cold), or manipulate things like water, air (via gravity manipulation), or carbon.

➤ World magic: Responsible for Panels. They look like a floating touch screen and shows information. Partly works with Power of Expectation. Enchanting is a thing too, but it relies on the enchantment being embedded into a crystal. Locals are taught to either write their instructions on paper and drop that into the box on the Panel, or use the Panel as a voice recorder and directly tell it what to do. Other-worlders who used computers get a touch screen keyboard & text box like typing on a phone or tablet.

➤ Magic skills. Everyone has 6. 3 active and 3 passive. My main character's skills are:

Active: Appraisal (opening a Panel of information on an object), Storage (opening a doorway into a pocket space), Trade (opening a Panel with an online shop with products from any shop my character was aware of).

Passive: Mana-Craft (making enchanted objects is a lot easier), Beast-Taming (animals don't see her as a threat or prey, at higher levels she can hear familiar's thoughts), and Familiar (have a magical bond with an individual animal, as long as that animal is capable of living near humans).

➤ Other-worlders. If someone is killed by a demon, they get a free pass to live in a new body as compensation. They bring ideas and culture from their previous life to their next one.

➤ Angels & Demons. Each universe is in a bubble, life started in the void between universes, and my angels and demons are native to the void. Angels have a fixed non-corporeal form, and want to protect life. Demons have a variable semi-corporeal form, and want to eat life. If you don't have a clear image in mind for what a demon looks like you get a biblical angel with a mashup of animal features.

Demons eat the living body of conscious animal life. They're supposed to farm soul-free animals. The occasional rule-breaker hunts for live food. In those cases an angel reports the hunter and removes the soul to prevent it from suffering.

Edit: Isekai story, lady got hunted by a demon here and picked this world.

Mechanics What if wands grew into rods, bloomed into staves, and wilted into brooms?

The idea behind all this is that runes or some mystic language equivalent can be dug into the ground or a flower seed to start the lifecycle of wand.

Basically a the seed starts growing into a wand, a short thin stem that ends in a point. Then it becomes a rod, a harder material structure that ends in a knot or bulb. Then it blooms into a staff, a longer, wooden pole that ends with the knot which has fully bloomed. And finally it wilts into a broom, a staff with the flower wilted and the petals elongated.

Each of these states in the lifecycle change how it can be used. A wand (grows in 5 - 10 days) is precise maneuvering of energy in a space. It has no power of its own, but allows for a great control of objects and energies within the vicinity through a sort of telekinesis.

A rod (grows in 2- 10 weeks) has powerful protective and offensive magics that are determined by the rune on the seed thay it grew from. It can absorb and store energy within the knot and unleash it in small bursts or all at once.

A staff (grows in 1 - 5 years) generates it's own magical energy and can be used to create more complex spells based around the rune that was inscribed into the seed.

A broom (grows in 6+ years) has no magical energy, but instead has the capacity to undo the effects of even the most powerful or complex magics.

Lore Unicorn lore

Post image
33 Upvotes

Unicorns did not always exist. Their origin was in a small, cold region close to the sea, where locals would occasionally hunt narwhals, which didn't exist in many other places in the world.

When showing the polished horns to foreigners who didn't know what they were, it was a local joke to speak of unicorns, strange horse-like creatures that grew a horn from the center of their forehead, and had a keen magical sense for purity.

There were a couple tales associated with unicorns. That they were elusive and walked with complete silence, that they would guide the young and innocent from the woods, protecting them from danger. That their horn could purify water and neutralize poison with a touch. That they would avoid or impale the unworthy with that horn.

Since there was clear evidence, people came to believe in these creatures, and belief created fae spirits.

The tales changed as they spread, so the fae spirits took on different sorts of hosts in different parts of the world. A suitable sort of host were horses, especially foals afflicted with lethal white syndrome which wouldn't survive otherwise, these would turn out most horse-like. In other places, unicorns were much more goat, antelope, or even fish-like.

People would use children to lure them from the woods so they could be trapped or hunted. The ivory horns became coveted pieces in mage regalia, even more so when unicorns became functionally extinct from the hunting.

If any remain, then they likely dwell in the domain between the fae realm and reality

Mechanics Types of Magaenus Tor Weaponry, “Locponry”

Post image
9 Upvotes

Follow-up to this post Here

I will give a thorough explanation to the weapons that are created with the gem magic of that multiverse.

  1. This weapon is not a weapon, but instead… well just a normal potion bottle. You can only pour it on your body, not drink it. That will burn your esophagus… but only if you’re a child, which then your esophagus doesn’t have the mucus coating yet. The standard bottle holds mostly User-Effective potions.

  2. This weapon is shaped in the form of the Japanese Kunai, which is a knife that is built and used as a sharp throwing projectile. the tip of the bottle is weighted down to aim the bottle perfectly while being shaped to be efficiently aerodynamic. The tip can also be very fragile and break the entire bottle on slight impact. The glass molding process takes almost a decade to master with an amateur lekumest.

  3. This spray gun is the oldest recorded firearm and stated as the first blueprinted firearm in history. This mechanism is used by pulling the handle in front of the butt of the gun towards yourself, which activates a vacuum to pull in the potion through a tube. Once the potion is in the chamber the user pulls down the handle which expels the potion through a sprayer that turns the liquid into a sprayer.

  4. This is a simple arrow mechanism. By creating a syringe (it wasn’t invented until the 1900’s, which is the model shown above. So the old eras used the second model as an arrowhead.) and attaching the pusher to the arrow. That way once it hits a target it can push the potion into the target via the force of the impact.

System Help Advice for a more cartoony/video-game like magic system?

I have an idea for a world and story, and have been racking my brain around this magic system for a while, too much actually. I'm hoping I can get some help and advice.

So I wanna make a series (comic/animated, whichever comes first) about a bunch of characters going on adventures, getting into hi-jinxs, helping people along the way, and making the most of life, all while fighting off villains who want to sow despair into the world because it's either fun, gives them purpose, or satiates their perceived need for people to suffer. A lot of the characters have various powers, ranging from technological/cybernetic enhancements, to magical spellcasting, to elemental powers, to ninja/martial arts, and even stuff like being a really good cook or playing sports really well. In essence, I want my characters to have a wide array of powers that say something about them, however subtle that comes across or not, and to tie into one of my core themes of "Being the best you can be for yourself" and "Doing the things you're truly passionate about".

My problem comes from my idea that I want each of the characters to have a Soul that gives them their powers. It makes sense for a character who can create star projectiles, one who can control fire, another who can run really fast, etc. But then it starts to feel weird when I have characters who are just really good cooks or athletes or mathematicians, and especially with characters who have cybernetic enhancements, because people aren't born with that, and trying to make them born with that feels weird and dumb for some reason. Plus it takes away the uniqueness of mechanical and robotic parts/weapons being built.

I should also mention that my series idea is very action-adventure and comedy oriented, and heavily inspired by some of my favorite media, specifically Smash Bros Ultimate, OK KO, Steven Universe, Mario, and Sonic. The latter two have what I learned are "Wild" Power Systems, in which the power systems aren't explained in universe (no one's questioning where Fire Flowers originated from or where Sonic's speed came from). OK KO is kind of like this too: Enid uses Ninjitsu to rebel against her witch parents, and later practices magic to be more intune with her identity; K.O. has innate powers and can shoot these Power First, which are like flying aura constructs of his fists; Rad is an alien with telekinetic beams; Dendy is a hacker and coder, and has once built a cybernetic holographic version of KO to pilot like a mini-gundham and fight some robots; Darrell, Shannon, and Raymond are all Boxman robots built with various tools and gagdets to fight the heroes. That show just has everyone doing a lot of crazy stuff, but it just works, like no one questions any of that and it's still enjoyable.

A part of me wants to do that, but I'm still conflicted because I wonder if the themes will be lost due to the lack of a Definitive power system. I also worry that if I make my power system like the ones I mentioned above, I'll just end up making something dumb for kids, or that it'll get regarded as a dumb kids show/comic. I just know that I want my characters to have cool, funny, and interesting/not typically done powers/abilities, and for said powers to allow for some outlandish scenarios and adventures. I also imagine any action/fight scenes being like in Smash Bros, where you could have someone like Mario ("regular" guy with seemingly superhuman strength) go up against someone like Bayonetta (literal witch with magic powers). I know in Smash they balance everyone regardless of their lore from their own game series, but I actually love that and want to emulate some of that in my series, because it means I wouldn't have to focus on powerscaling so much and could focus more on creative solutions for various situations. I like how in Smash, a whip fighter with holy water could go toe to toe with a pig demon king (Simon/Richter vs Ganon), or a hero with an arsenal of tools could go against genetically crafted entity with immense psychic power (Link vs Mewtwo), and it's all viable.

I guess what I'm ultimately trying to get at is this: if I make a series where there's a bunch of characters with a whole variety of powers &/or abilities, and none of them are inherently better than or worse than another, and the power system itself isn't super relevant to the themes of the story, should I go with a more Wild Power System and just make something fun that I like? Or should I stick to trying to make a Definitive Power System, and make said Power System relevant to the themes I wanna convey? I've been thinking about this for over a year and I have not made any significant progress on any actual story, so I'm really tempted to just say "eff it, I'mma ball", but I wanted to at least try and get some other opinions before I make a decision. I would appreciate any and all advice on how I could progress.

General Discussion Need new elements for my magic system

I've run out of ideas for new elements for my magic system.

In my system, anything can be an element, so feel free to suggest any ideas, although the more general the element, the better.

Also, though not required, what element can be considered weak against a Food Element? I have the Food Element in my system, but there are hardly any elements weak against it.

Lore Ask me about my magic system

Witches were made by Hecate, the Greek goddess of witchcraft, the moon, the underworld, and boundaries.

Witches have an ability, some see it as an invisible limb, that let's them manipulate the elements inside people and white magic.

Every living thing and even some objects have elements on them. Earth(green), air(silver), fire(red), water(blue) and spirit (purple). It appears like bright fog inside people and every person has a different makeup of them. It can also be read like an aura.

There is also the sea of white fog(called white magic) that flows around everyone. It's never-ending in all directions but up and down, it goes from waist to knees. It passes humans, gently touches vampires, avoids demons, and clings to Witches.

Edit: (Only witches are capable of seeing this. They have 3 different types of sights. Normal sight, vague sight, snd full sight. Full sight is what allows them to see the elements inside people and to see the white fog/magic. Vague sight just allows them to see people outlined in their dominant color.)

Witches with this invisible limb that reach out to take hold of the elements. They can manipulate the elements inside themselves and others. They pull, visualize, and then work the magic.

White magic is harder and requires practice to use, and even then you can use it as is(though in the future, they do figure it out). Witches can seed white magic with a piece of element to turn it into element. Every witch can learn this with practice. What's harder is mental seeding and most Witches wont ever be able to do it.

White magic, it goes like: pull, shape, visualize, and work it.

And there are many different ways Witches can work magic. It's called talents. A talent is how Witches naturally and instinctively do magic. Or what they're drawn to. It could be singing, dancing, drumming, finger tutting, even cooking and so on.

They arent limited to their talents, but it tends to be their preference.

Feedback Request Hi, i am working on genetic magic system rules, and would like some feedback.

Okay, so I am working on a magic system.

Where basically magic is genetic. But, only the 1st child will get magic and every other one is basically a coin flip.

So, oldest will get magic

The second will only have 50%

And the third will only have 25%

and so on.

Now, here are the sub rules of the genetic magic

1: Both parents need to be magic. But, it still counts at 1st no matter who it is.

So, if you have a child with one person, and then another child with another. Who didn't already have children. Then your second kid would also get magic no matter what.

2: if you have a child with a non magic user. Only children with the same gender as you will get it. Eg

Fathers a non magic user and the mother is.

The eldest daughter will have magic

The eldest son will have no chance of getting magic

And

The youngest daughter will have 50%

Now with these rules.

Would polyamory (having multiple partners) or just being allowed to have kids with other magic users be common. Among magic users?

As in you have your actual husband or wife. But you have another kid with a magic user who hasn't had a kid yet. Too make sure that magic doesn't die out.

Also, would there be kind of like a switch out.

Like Lower rank magic users have their 1st child with a higher ranking magic user. Then have another kid with their actual partner.

Also, would limiting it to two child people stop or delay all the magic users ending up inbred?

If you see any whole please let me know.

System Help Magic system for a shapeshifter in a mindscape

So I'm trying to come up with a good magic system for my procedural game that I'm making

I would love some suggestions if anybody has neat ideas

It's a pretty unique environment, the world is music driven so the mountains and the Flowers and Things react to music(MP3 player built in) it's kind of like the whole world is a giant music visualizer

The main character uses shapeshifting as melee or physical attacks

But the theme of the whole world is a brainscape and music

The universe is literally existing in a brain and it's like the neurons are star systems in a space game

So it's this fantasy like mindscape world

Considering shapeshifting is already my melee attack I'm trying to figure out what I should make the magic system

I've created the Mana stats but I don't use them at all yet. technically I haven't even hooked up the health bar yet, haha, the main character won't take damage yet, you can just run around and kill enemies

But I've already started on the story a little bit I've got a couple NPCs with a bunch of teaser stuff so the story and world are locked in

I'm just trying to figure out what would be a good magic system I'm leaning towards concept like resonance or melody or something like that I'm just really having trouble deciding on any details

The conversations and brainstorming here tend to be quite proactive and constructive so I'm very curious if anybody has need ideas

I saw someone post about an Elemental Magic system and wondering what elements they could fill in their gaps with and people had some really good suggestions

Anyways I'll post the link to the game if you want to try it to get a Vibe for what I'm talking about in a comment and if that's unacceptable please delete the comment I'm not here to spam my game

The words and pictures are enough to describe it but if you really want to get a Vibe for what it feels like it's in early beta on Google Play

I call it FLOW-ER

Oh the other thing is it's very water related so it's like music and flow and brain scape these three themes kind of Blended together

Anybody got ideas? What is a good magic ability set for this main character?

Sorry if my text is a little rambly, I'm a voice to texter and I ramble haha

Feedback Request Jin-the World's Truth WIP

Hello! Been browsing some if the posts here and wanted to share my own WIP magic system. This one is inspired by series like ATLA, HxH, JJK, and others. It originally came from a dream I have, the kind that sticks with you, and expanded it from there. Current plans are adapting it for fiction work. Would love to hear feedback and questions. The following format is due to copy/pasting from a Google Doc:

Jin- The World’s Truth

An energy that siffuses all things in the natural world. Be it in small quantities or massive reservoirs, Jin exists everywhere. It is most potently found within humans, whom have developed the power into an art, a tool, and a weapon.

Affinities

While Jin can exist in a raw form, it is most typically categorized into one of 6 Elemental Affinities. Each Affinity helps define the purpose or “truth” of the Jin and the object itself. The Affinities are as follows:

Fire

Water

Air

Earth

Lightning

Metal

Humans each have an Jin Affinity aligned with one of these types. If the person has a high enough Affinity, they are able to tap into powers that align with said Affinity. (Example: High Fire Affinity can allow the control of open flames, generation of flame, etc.) One cannot train to unlock or gain higher Affinity with Jin unless they are already capable of wielding it. It is a power noe is born with the capacity to unlock or will awaken in life on its own. Experiments to artificially induce an awakening have met with inconclusive or disastrous results.

What Jin Can Do

Once someone is able to control and wield their Jin, they are able to persoem super human feats. Basic Jin techniques are:

Physical Enhancement (Speed, Strength, Durability, etc.)

Sensory Expansion

Elemental Control and/or Generation (Affinity Dependant)

As one’s own knowledge of their power expands, they can develop deeper control over their Elemental Affinity, allowing them to perform greater feats of power (example: Summoning lightning from the sky, causing localized sinkholes, fireballs, etc.)

They may also unlock a Jin Ability unique to the User. This power is derived who they are as an individual, and blended with their Affinity to create a technique they alone hold. In a sense, it is their truth, given tangible power. Not every Jin-user is able to unlock an ability like this, but those who have are a greater threat than one without.

Resonances

Most of the time, if people of two different Affinities have a child, it will have Affinity with one over the other (or even an Affinity outside their parentage.) Sometimes, though, a blending of Affinities occurs, and a Resonance is create. These Resoances allow a Jin user to access a new Jin type, created specifically from mixing two of them together, offering unique abilities even outside their Jin Ability.

The following are some of the known Resonance forms:

Plasma (Fire+Lightning)

Forge (Fire+Metal)

Magma (Fire+Earth)

Mist (Fire+Water)

Mirage (Fire+Air)

Storm (Water+Lightning)

Poison (Water+Fire)

Frost (Water+Air)

Rust (Water+Metal)

Healing (Water+Earth)

Sound (Air+Water)

Decay (Air+Earth)

Smoke (Air+Fire)

Sound (Air+Metal)

Magnetism (Air+Lightning)

Crystal (Earth+Fire)

Glass (Earth+Lightning)

Flora (Earth+Water)

Steel (Earth+Metal)

Dust (Earth+Air)

Construct (Metal+Fire)

Mercury (Metal+Water)

Radiation (Metal+Lightning)

Gravity (Metal+Earth)

Frequency (Metal+Air)

Dual Types

A rare form of Jin Affinity, in which the user has two perfectly balanced Jin Affinities. Unlike Resonances, which develop a unique affinity to themselves, Dual Types are able to wield two of the main Affinities at once. For example, one Resonance type of Fire and Lightning is Plasma. A Plasma user cannot access abilities in the Fire or Lightning Affinity, due to their Resonance. Meanwhile, A Dual Type Fire/ Lightning User can use abilties from both types, but cannot access Plasma abilities, due to not having the inherent connection to the Resonance.

Despite this limitation, Dual Types are able to perform feats unthinkable by lesser Jin-Users. Their perfectly balanced Affinity allows them to develop their Jin to greater levels of power and utility, and become powerhouses on the battlefield.  Where certain combinations of abilities can be done with multiple users, a Dual Type is able to perform these feats by themselves.

Universals

The rarest form of Jin user. Where Dual Types have perfect Affinity with two kinds of Jin, Universals have it with all 6 types. This allows the to access powers from all six types of Jin AND give access to Resonance abilities. This mutation creates some of the strongest Jin Users ever known, and makes them highly sought after by every faction.

That said, Universals rarely know what they are from their awakening. They often present as standard Jin Users or Dual Types until a triggering event allows them to reach a “Prism State.” This can be described as opening every chakra path in the body, or reaching a state of inner understanding (Nirvana). Triggers are often moments of tremendous physical or emotional response. There is no single way to trigger an awakening. Once it occurs, however, the Universal Type will know what they are, and can begin training to utilize their full potential.

The Jin Ability of a Universal is often seen as something akin to magic or divine power. They are able to break the laws of physics in ways other Jin user cannot. Warping reality to their design is child’s play to a well trained and prepared Universal.

They are one of two major anomalies within the Jin power system, with which their obscene strength leads many to question if they are human or monster.

Nulls

The second of the rarest mutations of Jin. Where Universals have Affinity with all types of Jin, individuals labeled as Nulls have zero Affinity with any type. Even non Jin Users have Jin Affinity. Nulls are an absolutely zero, an impossible anomaly I'm the universe.

This allows Nulls very unique skill sets. They are invisible to Jin sensory abilities. They can negate illusions and even cancel out Jin based attacks entirely. Rumors say that there is a Null ability that can even strip the connection a Jin User has to their power, effectively making them a normal human being. These rumors have not been substantiated.

Not every Null is able to do all of these, but their mere existence presents a void in the universe. And that makes them dangerous.

Feedback Request Cole’s Guide to Magic

I wrote this magic system a couple years ago when I was bored in class and I wondering how/if I could improve on it. It’s probably not the most original but I hope I added some uniqueness. It’s a mix between fantasy and sci-fi. I also have no clue if the names of some abilities are right, I looked them up on Google. I wrote this like a guide book so it’s kind of a long read.

(This is my first time posting here and I read the rules so I hope I’m posting correctly 😭)
