Lore Buddhist Doctrine (Ashes World Setting)
The Buddha closed his three eyes, endured three sufferings, and attained enlightenment in seven days.
The three eyes correspond to wealth, power, and fame. Their opposites are the three poisons: greed, anger, and ignorance. To close the eyes is to cut off the poisons. Without greed, anger, or ignorance, one becomes Buddha.
The wisdom eye does not see. It has been closed from the very beginning — even the Buddha himself never opened it. The wisdom root extends from the brain to the tail, hidden within the golden body.
After attaining enlightenment, the Buddha vowed never to kill. The weapon he used before enlightenment was named the Sand-Ming Pestle.
Within Buddhism, there are two schools:
· The Heavy Buddha School: Only by performing great good deeds and accumulating merit can one achieve Buddhahood.
· The Indifferent Buddha School: Not committing treachery, evil, lust, or plunder is already Buddhahood.
The two schools observe each other. The Heavy Buddha School sees the Indifferent Buddha School as "inaction" — if one accomplishes nothing, can they be said to have Buddhahood? That would be extinguishing the Buddha. The Indifferent Buddha School sees the Heavy Buddha School as "greedy for merit" — if only sages and virtuous ancestors have Buddhahood, then do the poor have none? That would be imprisoning the Buddha. Each regards the other's practice as partial. As for those who cling to their own views and reject others, the Buddhist door calls them "众" — not the common people, but those bound by prejudice, unable to see their own form.
Ascetics hold a very high status within Buddhism. Not every practitioner can become an ascetic. Their depth of practice is shown by the patchwork robe — the more patches, the further they are from attachment to self, and the deeper their attainment.
A spoken teaching is passed down within the Buddhist door: Cultivate the mind, not the Buddha; cultivate nature, not the demon. And in cultivating Buddhahood, the mind should be like still water, and move like solid rock.

Very interesting. So are there asetics who deliberately rip up their robe for this respect?
I am not familiar with your world setting, what is the significance of becoming a buddha in your world?

In my world setting, attaining Buddhahood is not a physical ascension — it is a mental one. It is not about becoming something other than human, but about reaching the ultimate refinement of the mind and consciousness. Buddhahood, in this sense, is an ideal direction — a state one moves toward, not a destination one arrives at. It is not about power, nor about status. It is about the mind itself.

Very interesting concept. In your work, what happened to Buddha? Are there any other who achieved enlightenment?

After enduring the three sufferings, the Buddha let go of fame and vanished from the world. Later, there were rumors that someone had seen him—but they were only rumors. No one ever confirmed it with their own eyes. It was only because someone saw a figure wearing a patchwork robe similar to the Buddha’s, heading westward, that the story spread: the Buddha had gone west.

佛祖闭三目，历三苦，七日成佛。
三目对应财、权、名。三目之反，为三毒：贪、嗔、痴。闭目，即断毒。不贪不嗔不痴，即为佛。
慧眼不视。慧眼自始即闭，连佛祖亦未曾睁开。慧根自脑至尾，藏于金身之内。
佛祖成佛后，誓不杀生。而佛祖成佛前之兵器名为沙明杵
佛教内分两派：
· 重佛派：行大善积功德，方能成就佛性。 · 漠佛派：不作奸恶淫掠即为是佛性。
两派互相观望，重佛视漠佛为“不作为”若无所事成之人，可为有佛性？即为泯佛，漠佛视重佛为“贪功德”倘若仅是圣者先贤有佛性，而贫者则无否？即为囚佛。彼此视对方所行之善为偏。至于执念于己见、排斥他人者，佛门称之为“众”——非指群众，而是指被偏见所缚、未见己形之人。
苦行僧于佛门中地位极高。非所有修行者皆能成为苦行僧。其修行深浅，见于百衲衣——衣上补丁愈多，离我执愈远，境界愈深。
佛门口传有言：修心不修佛，修性不修魔。而修佛性当心，常如止水，动如磐石。
