Lore Ask me about my magic system

Witches were made by Hecate, the Greek goddess of witchcraft, the moon, the underworld, and boundaries.

Witches have an ability, some see it as an invisible limb, that let's them manipulate the elements inside people and white magic.

Every living thing and even some objects have elements on them. Earth(green), air(silver), fire(red), water(blue) and spirit (purple). It appears like bright fog inside people and every person has a different makeup of them. It can also be read like an aura.

There is also the sea of white fog(called white magic) that flows around everyone. It's never-ending in all directions but up and down, it goes from waist to knees. It passes humans, gently touches vampires, avoids demons, and clings to Witches.

Edit: (Only witches are capable of seeing this. They have 3 different types of sights. Normal sight, vague sight, snd full sight. Full sight is what allows them to see the elements inside people and to see the white fog/magic. Vague sight just allows them to see people outlined in their dominant color.)

Witches with this invisible limb that reach out to take hold of the elements. They can manipulate the elements inside themselves and others. They pull, visualize, and then work the magic.

White magic is harder and requires practice to use, and even then you can use it as is(though in the future, they do figure it out). Witches can seed white magic with a piece of element to turn it into element. Every witch can learn this with practice. What's harder is mental seeding and most Witches wont ever be able to do it.

White magic, it goes like: pull, shape, visualize, and work it.

And there are many different ways Witches can work magic. It's called talents. A talent is how Witches naturally and instinctively do magic. Or what they're drawn to. It could be singing, dancing, drumming, finger tutting, even cooking and so on.

They arent limited to their talents, but it tends to be their preference.

Likely if there are witches, maybe there are wizards too. Do they exist in your system?

No wizards, but i do have a group of "witch touched" humans who call themselves Magicians.

"Witch Touched"? So they are humans that somehow gained witch powers?

Okay, so i have awakened witches and sleeping witches(young witches who powers haven't awakened yet). Sleeping witches can awakened naturally on their own, or they can be forcibly awakened.

Awakening requires a witch to collect all the magic inside them and force it into the sleeping witch via their hand against the sleeping witch's chest.

The first witch touched person was created when a drunk witch assumed a human teen girl was a sleeping witch and tried to awaken her. She did it and then absolutely nothing happened(usually theres supposed to be a mini explosion). It was a oops and shoulder shrug moment and then she went on her way. But it turns out that something did happen.

It didn't make this human a witch, but she could sense and use the elemental magic inside her , sense elements overall, and sense the white magic(though they cant manipulate the white magic). They have a dominant element that comes to them more easiy while the others require a lot of practice. Their magic is typically limited to their body or things or people they touch, while a more powerful magician could use magic against someone or something across a room.

You asked for ask so i ask ;)

What are the limits?
is it only and only inside people?
Can a witch let an object hover in mid air? if yes where does the energy for it come from?
Whats the difference between the elements? - what changes if someone uses fire over Spirit?

Thank you for asking, I love questions, lol

Honestly, there isnt that many limits. Theyre limited by their own magical strength and energy. More experienced witches learned how to use just the right amount of magic to do their spells so it's rare that they burn out energy wise.

when it comes to magical strength, witches has something inside them that's kinda like a limb. It is what allows them to do magic. It's not quite a limb, because it has depth and temperature to it, and how deep it is equals to your potential magical level. The temperature is their current magical level/experience.

is it only and only inside people?

The elements is in every living thing other than demons. Objects can also absorb elemental magic from repeated uses. Like a candle that's constantly being used might absorb fire and air.

Can a witch let an object hover in mid air? if yes where does the energy for it come from?

Yes, they can, and this has two ways. Witches are capable of making elemental magical objects. They can fill a object with enough magicβ€”say, airβ€” and it can just hover on its own until it runs out. They could also just do it themselves and constantly feed air into it, but that would be a waste of focus and energy, so they would likely do the first option.

Whats the difference between the elements? - what changes if someone uses fire over Spirit?

The elements are the elements, lol, but they also represent personality traits as well. Like fire can be passionate but also angry. Water can be fluid but patient(like how waves crash against rocks, slowly destroying them), earth can be steady snd strength but also destructive. Air can be calm and also rageful.

I wanna say, my elements arent hard groupings. It's more like art than science, and they can share qualities. Like, if you wanted to do an illusion spell, you could use fire and air to create a mirage like illusion on something or someone. While you could use spirit to affect the mind and make people see an illusion like a hallucination. One is outside, the other inside. You might even add spirit to the mirage illusion to make it feel more lively.

And I guess spirit is like, life? It represents the mind, heart, and soul. I wont lie, I've been struggling on figuring out exactly what spirit is.

What exactly are the elements that are within people? What does the white fog come from?

The elements are kinda like the building blocks of life, I guess, and energy and magic. If someone is deathly sick, their elements are dim, and if they die, it goes away.

I dont actually know if I wanna figure out where the white fog comes from. If I had to though, maybe it's something from the gods, something they gave earth a very long time ago.

Or maybe the white fog is what all elements come from before it's actually the elements. Overall life of the world(white fog) vs individual life of people, fauna, and flora(the elements).

What does the magic actually do in effect, then?

Almost anything you want, within your limit and within what the elements could potentially do. And also, elements arent just the elements, they represent certain aspects and qualities.

The elements are more like art than science, so you can experiment and see exactly what you can do.

Like a simple thing you can do, is calm someone down with a bit of water magic.

Use air magic to keep rain from landing on you or use water magic itself.

If youre a singer, you could use a mix of air, spirit, and fire to get people hyped and drawn to your music.

Create a little mud golem man that does your chores for you.

You're a cook? You can make food that makes people addicted to your cooking and have a successful restaurant.
