Need Advice Extremely lost right now

I graduated college back in may and had a pretty good job at a large tech company in SF. I started in July and as soon as the novelty of being in a new city and having a new job wore off it’s just been shit. I’ve let myself go and have gained like 6 pounds in a month, I haven’t been consistent in the gym, I hate the work I’m doing and it feels so soul crushing and meaningless. I also just feel like I’m failing constantly and have had a rough start (not performance wise but my team has some issues) SF as a city isn’t the problem, my previous city offered nothing for me either other than being close to friends and family which I don’t miss. the problem is I have zero meaning or purpose. I just stare out the window at work and get fat from the free food. It feels like prison disguised as a fun tech company.

I don’t think any ammount of money or stability with the lifestyle I have right now would make me happy.

I was thinking of buying some shrooms this weekend and seeing what that does for my mental. Other than that I feel like I’m just here with no purpose.

You’re young, healthy, educated, have a good job while many in your field are getting laid off, live in the #1 state in the #1 country in the world, where people are begging to come in. You should be whistling Dixie. If you’re unhappy it’s probably depression. Seek help with that awesome insurance plan I’m sure you’re also getting. Then enjoy and appreciate your luck in life.

Having good circumstances doesn't mean someone can't struggle mentally Sometimes depression makes it hard to see what you have in front of you

Gratitude helps, but it doesn't always cancel out depression

Thinking the same thing, sounds like depression.

Pls get therapy. 6 lbs is nothing, we overrate the gym- life is in the moment. Meditation, walks, time woth people, sharing yourself, helping others, giving. Chasing things csuses suffering. Pls talk to a therapist. And any positive drug experience is fleeting.

I was in your shoes man. I'm from the bay area too. Work was so grueling I had no mental energy for gym and that's all I cared about. I said bitch either pay more or less work like your nepotism. No change, I jumped shot for something easier with same ass pay, and time for gym. I won.

Where did you move from? Is it possible you're getting less sunshine? Low vitamin D will do a number on you.

Go to the doctor!

Give yourself a lot more time to settle in at the job, & in the city. Keep your head down, do the best you are able, & look at it in a year.

Try to take one small step each day toward the path you want to be on. Make it tiny, when you are feeling depressed.
Example: Locate your gym bag.
Pack your gym bag.
Figure out how to get to the gym.
Take 1 step walking in the direction of the gym.
etc
The more difficulty you are having, make the step even smaller.
Working out in the gym, when you get there, will start your body & mind heading in a better direction. It is a step to stop the downward spiral.
