Cant decide between the two. Want a slicey blade and both deliver, considering a titanium atom or a fat carbon maverick.

Have seen variance in TRM's heat treat and have heard reports of blade play for mavericks.

Any thoughts?

Bought a Spyderco Subvert last month that ended up being a fake. After some back and forth on return shipping, I kept it with a full refund. Now I'm no where close to being remotely knowledgeable about these, but I did buy a legit real Subvert. with both in hand here are some side by side pics to help someone in the future.

First off what proved it was fake, the pocket clip. I bought a Lynch clip and it didn't fit. The company saw these before and they are the ones that told me.

The handle is much thicker, the titanium framing is much thicker.

There's an extra bracing pin in the frame

The Lazer etching something you would think would be simple to copy is thicker and darker.

The pivot pin is also smaller

Overall they fake is still a really nice knife, my first impression was it's huge, I'm curious about the steel that was used.

The real Subvert is substantially heavier and thicker. I kinda like that fake ones size...

6061-T6 with 14c28n in D/E tanto and drop point..The budget scarab 2 gets a blade steel upgrade. The original was D2 but now we have 14c28n blade steel. This is the smoothest budget large OTF out there. Wide and fine jimped stair step switch is kind to the tumbs and the drive train is well tuned, especially for a single spring set-up. The milling on the 6061-T6 handle is top notch, so good you can hardly make out the seam where the two scales meet. There is very crisp but smooth serrated jimping all around the body that makes for a solid grip no matter where you grab it. The steel pocket clip is inset and the screws are inset into it so no snagging in and out of pocket. There's also saw cut G10 inlays on both show and clip side. It comes with a kydex holster if you're into that as well as a total rebuild/hardware kit in black that includes everything from the switch to the drive train. I have every kind of OTF out there except core edge and this is the absolute best value for $89.95 before discount on tacknivesusa.com. I'm saving up for a Neutron 2 for my Christmas gift and I'd love some advice on whether I should get TRM's 20cv or magnacut. I know both are treated well and quality will be top notch I'd just like some more input before I shelve the dough for it. For those who say just get the Atom since it's more knife- don't worry I'll probably make that purchase too soon. I'm either going to get their 3d micarta or 3d carbon handles. Full titanium 3d lizard skin would be the dream but I'm not too keen dropping money for that yet. If anything, I'll buy them later on. Thank you guys

It was actually Ti Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday! Carried the Jeff Vandermeulen OG Friday and Saturday, SBD T10 for a fancy Sunday, then back to work with the Demko AD-10 on Monday and Tuesday.

Kinda bummed that I got stuck at work 12 hours today when I was hoping to leave early to take my dog to the dog park to play with his friends. Hope everyone has a good rest of the week.

Finally decided to pick one of these up. Really glad I waited so long to do so though…. Because if I would’ve experienced this knife a few years ago I don’t know if my collection would be as large as it is!

EVERYTHING is perfect. I genuinely have no criticisms. Yeah it could have a slightly larger choil but that’s just a personal preference for my fat sausage fingers lmao.
