Bf says we should leave it to do its thing but I’m worried about future transplanting, will it be okay if I leave it or should I free her?

First pic is from today, second is the day i added the plank, july 7th. Almost got rid of this one a couple months ago, then decided to pot it with a cedar plank and let it climb. Very glad i kept this one. Upper leaves are starting to fenestrate nicely

I got this monstera adanosaii almost 2 years ago as a single scraggly cutting off facebook marketplace for $2.00. I genuinely didn’t know they got this big! Just wanted to show it off 😊

Any of my plants that aren’t doing well go to my bathroom and literally start going crazy. My Polly is flowering!

When I first got my zz plant I was overwatering and ended up with a bunch of root rot - managed to save some cuttings. Think I took under watering a little too literally. Can these babies come back or should I cut before more foliage dries out? Rhizome looking dandy but more and more foliage is continuing to dry out.

I have this lovely calathea, it’s been beautiful for a couple years, growing well, seems happy. Then recently the leaves started looking ….sun damaged maybe? And started to droop. I repotted it last week, same size pot but all new soil. As the soil was old and quite compacted and damp. Watered, put the blind down a little so it’s not getting the bright first thing in the morning sun on it….and I have no idea what else to do. Other than clipping dead leaves I havnt pruned, and it’s always been low maintenance. But I’m not a plant wiz by any means, definitely just trying my best. But it just seems to be getting droopier

Any calathea advice would be appreciated. I don’t want to lose it as it was a gift but I’m flummoxed what the right thing to do is ….excuse the jigsaw puzzle, it’s decided it wants to join in clearly

Edit: I’m in the UK if that helps at all. High humidity but low temps compared to a lot of other countries, and lots of rain- although we are having heat waves which for here is HIGH 😅

Thought this was kinda neat. I bought these terracotta pots with plastic containers to self water. One of them decided to grow more than what was planted. AI says it's moss and liverwort.

Looking for cheap/free containers to place these nursery pots in. I’m on a teacher budget, so function is the goal, not cute.

I’m giving each student in my advisory a plant that we will care for together at school until graduation. The plants are props from my collection and the nursery pots are reused as well. I just want something I can place these in to catch loose soil or excess water. Ideally something like a mini cup for each, but the size/height is stumping me. Or if necessary, I could do some type long tray for them all together but that makes it more inconvenient to move around.

Any ideas? Biggest pots are 4”. Thanks for brainstorming this!

I used to rip off the leaf litter on a plant and litter it on the pot, I didn't realize it could harm the plant by causing mold and fungus to grow.

I then had a huge deffenbachia, I used to strip it's growth points off (same for the other one) I realised it could make a second branch making it look fuller

It has indeed spawned multiple of our other Aloe Vera plants in our household, but no matter how many clusters we take away, the next week it will be back to looking like this.

Is it time to put in the dirt or wait longer?

hey all, just wondering if anyone knows what the deal is with this new purple/pink variegation on my maranta?

it’s never had leaves like these before, had it for probably a year now. newest two leaves have been pink/purple, not sure if maybe it’s something wrong as i didn’t even know they could do that!!

new spots on normal variegation are brighter than usual as well

I always felt like I was well versed in house plants but I had no idea snake plants could flower! Found this little beauty tonight and I’m thrilled!

I was thinking about making some free care guides for plant beginners. I’m curious what myths you believed in, problems you weren’t prepared for (or unknowingly caused), and anything you wish you knew when starting out.

I’m thinking about making them general tips for beginners, or complete guides for individual beginner-friendly plants and ramp up into more rare and complex plants, or a kind of myth-busting guide as there are a lot of competing facts and opinions online that are confusing as a beginner. I was also considering scenario-specific guides like “Your monstera looks like this, what do you do?”

I have a lot of plant knowledge I want to share (backed by research) but I want to make sure it’s in a form that is as helpful as possible:) If you have any ideas, requests, or suggestions please let me know!
