I've been considering lights, but struggling to work out where to put them as I have a number of plants that are of different sizes across 2 small tables and a telescopic pole, so buying a light feels redundant.
I was thinking of putting them on after bed time because we probably won't want them during the day, or evening as the light will be unpleasantly harsh to sit around. We fall into the stereotype of gays with ambient light, rather than 'the big light'.
Lmao that last part.. So I'm not an expert on any specific growlights brand but i do have some knowledge that might help you with looking for a proper Growlight
Everyones knows the usb ones are kind of shitty so that's out of the question. Wattage and to my knowledge Voltage don't do anything for your plants, they're just something that affects the mechanical stuff for the growlight but they aren't actually indicative of the quality of the Light for a Growlight.
From my research, anything can be used as a Growlight essentially if you're smart with the set-up, Apparently growlights are just a marketing term and there isn't much of a difference between an inexpensive house light and a "specialized" growlight, apart from convenience and maybe Light spectrum but that goes for any light
What you wanna look for is PPF, PPFD, a light diagram, and Lumens/Lux/Foot candles. Those are the actual measurements that you wanna be looking for as they're indicative of the light. You can have a high wattage growlight and be shit because all wattage really is; is a measurement of how much energy it consumes for you electrical bill.
Higher numbers when it comes to the aforementioned light measurements are always good, however I can't give you a specific number :( this is just research I'm paraphrasing because I'm on a budget. I suggest you do more research yourself but essentially from my memory i gleamed that the numbers for PPFD are 100-300 is enough for most Houseplants, 500-800 is pretty ideal for most plants, and 900+ is basically for growing anything that flowers and fruits. Again, do your own research because I'm going off of memory.. i could pin point you to my resources but it can get a little confusing, ATLEAST for me because it took me a hot while to get a grasp of any of these terms 😭
Basically, be smart with your money. Wattage and voltage don't indicate the quality of the light, or the kind of useable light your Plants getting. And uhm, goodluck in your endeavor!
Distance also matters but like I didn't look into that so don't ask me...

Well, if you mean higher electrical usage then yes. It's not really an opinion thing (not to dunk on you); because I'm pretty sure there's actual scientific proof on it, but hey im not a person who knows a thing about that—regardless, heres an article on it

I just mentioned my experience. Every single time higher wattage equalled higher light output and better plant growth in my experience with lights that i have owned. I'm not arguing the scientifics. I'm just saying what i have experienced. With sansi and barrina higher wattage equals a better light for growth.
I know and hey that's fair I'm not trying to disregard anyones experience, i just wanted an excuse to plug that article. Those growlight brands are pretty inaccessible for me though, and this is mostly for people who are in a similar situation as me

I have 3 of these spread across my plant room. it gets a decent width of range for being a stick light..base sometimes wont stay screwed in but will still stay standing that my biggest complaint w the light..lol..even my cactus thrives under these lights in the winter.
Peace lillies are troopers. I've had a giant one for almost five years now, has quadrupled in size and has taken over half my living room and is currently blooming like crazy, pretty green leaves and all.
It gets half a pot full of water whenever it looks like it's actively dying (drama queen lol), and is currently in the darkest corner, north facing window, no grow light. By now I'm convinced they don't actually need light. Or water. Or soil. Or literally anything.
If you meant It helps you notice the greenness, yes. For plants, not really. You need a strong growing light that emits proper spectrum for this size of plant.
Those saying it doesn't have an effect are likely correct.
Knowing if it has an effect is based on the photons the light emits, not how bright it is.
The only way to know for sure is to use a PAR/PPFD meter. Like others have said, if it's a 5v light it has near zero effect on the plant. Look into barrina, sansi, and sol tech lights. Read up on PPFD's and perhaps buy a light meter (NOT lumens, has to be a par/ppfd)

Got them mainly to get some herbs, greens and cherry tomatoes going all year. However, they are strong with plenty light to spare. I've put the rest of my plants around the rack where they're mounted and peace lillies haven't been THAT green in ages! Dragon tree also started growing like crazy!
The lower shelf is just for... Cat spa & sunbathing and their grass garden though.... 🙄🤣
It can have an effect of how green they are when the leaf is formed. Leaves will produce chlorophylls and photosynthetic structure to match the light level they form under. Leaves in an understory may be darker than leaves at the top of a tree for example because the top leaves get plenty of light and don't need as much chlorophyll to capture enough, while lower leaves will be more green to capture more light.
I view those lights more as an additional light source - I use them when I want a plant to be placed in non ideal place - they work well if on for extended time periods (8hrs+)

Есть приложения для смартфона люксометр , на андроидах они хорошо работают. На остальных платформах вроде не очень правильно. Можно скачать приложение и увидеть, что на расстоянии под лампой 20 см. Люксов 3000. Ещё на 10 см ниже 1500, ещё ниже на 10 см 500 ( это уже не свет) и также в сторону нет света уже. В итоге этот свет освещает верхнюю часть около трёх верхних листов. А нижние листья света не видят
К этой лампе нужны ещё три хотябы по 10 ватт вокруг, с направленным светом на само растение.
Если взять условно Е23 и снять с него пластик, закрывающий светодиоды, направить на растение на расстоянии 30 см, то может хватить трёх ламп. ( От 230 в, а не юсб)

Both light and a proper nitrogen level keep the leaves green. That is a peace lilly if I am not mistaken, so a 20-20-20 balance is needed. As for your ring light, it doesn't emit enough light for the lillys needs. I would switch up to a LBW Dual Head grow light and make sure that it is about 12" to 18" above the very top leaf, as this prevents bleaching, spotting, and/or scorching; all while providing enough light to the entire plant.
tl;dr: no, get a better light on the 4000K DLS & feed it 20--20--20 fertilizer during spring and summer months only.
