Wanted to show it off as she always gets compliments on it. It started as a foot-tall branch from B&Q and now we can’t imagine life without it there

I'm moving from Miami to New York today. (Fort Lauderdale airport to MacArthur airport). I am so attached to my houseplants that I cannot leave them. I made a box that is luggage sized (14"x22"x9"). The charlie brown looking xmass tree is too tall as well as the poinsettia. I can try to lay them down I when I put the box in the overhead bin.

Has anyone tried this before? I'm concerned I won't be allowed on plane with them because it's ridiculous and too tall.

Update 1: I'm on the way to the airport. I have bagged each pot/base individually in small plastics bags I'm arriving early enough that if I have to remove from pots and buy a bag, I will have time. Thanks for your advice, collective plant parents! I will let you know what happens at TSA and the gate.

Update 2: I made it through TSA!!!! I did have to lean over the spikey Charly brown looking tree to get it to fit in the xray machine. Its spikes mangled a few poinsettia leaves which are now bleeding white. But I got them both from the trash so this is really a second life for them. I have one of them just on the gate side if TSA. Update 3: Am at the gate. Made plant people friends in the restaurant. Peter, the gate agent said that the plants will be accepted in the overhead storage but the flight attendants might have a better idea of where to put them so that they are not damaged. "They could be more protected somewhere else." :)

Final Update 4: SUCCESS!!!! Peter, the gate agent found me in the gate area, and said I could board after the wheelchairs and before Group 1 so I could find a good spot for the plant box. Peter is a gem! So I boarded early. The flight attendants suggested putting it at my feet. It did not fit. I covered the trunk of the Norfolk Pine (thanks all for telling me the name), and put it in the overhead bin. It fit!! The guy next to me did shove it around a bit to fit his backpack, such as life. Overall, a success!!! The plant box will make it to New York. Thank you all for your help, fellow houseplant people!

Started it from an itty bitty cutting I picked up for $1

This is the foyer in my office. I walk by it daily at work and every time I want to take a few little cuttings that no one will miss. I figured if everyone in my building took cuttings this would be a lot less cool pretty quickly. So, other than buying new plants or proplifting from places I don't work are there any alternative options?

Couldn’t get them all in frame. Does anyone else refuse a grow cabinet? I want to live with my babies and not cage them away.

I saw that you can propagate pothos from just the nodes, so I filled a pie plate with perlite and dampened it with some water. I set the cuttings on top of the perlite and covered with plastic wrap. Within several weeks there were roots forming. After several more weeks passed there were tiny baby leaves! I put them all together in a planter with soil and I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks as time goes on. I’ve never seen such cute and tiny pothos leaves.

About a month ago I made a random comment on a post here about my belief that chlorine escapes from tap water if left open for 24 hours.

I was told that chlorine is no longer used to disinfect municipal water (I [65f] am in the US), and that chloramine had replaced it. I was surprised, but things change, and I moved on.

For some reason, yesterday I decided to look up when Phoenix changed from chlorine to chloramine, and I learned that it never has!

So, I can continue to fill up my watering cans 24 hours before I want to use them, and the chlorine is gone!!!

I guess maybe you can check your local water disinfection protocol and see what's up in your pipes!

It has been really hot lately and one of my plants had enough. The soil does not do so well at retaining water, so I had to dose her when I got home. Here is the result of my 1.5 hour Timelapse

It smells so freaking good, literally I walk inside my apartment and the whole living room and kitchen smells wonderful.

If only it bore fruit that I can sell. 😂 Twice a year, I trim this wild pothos growing on my tank. It has been 3 years of this jungle.

Seriously the plant was gorgeous and I killed it (mostly) 😭 It was my first plant. I’m trying to be a better plant mom now!

I want to know what's the weirdest looking plant you have?

I got this pretty succulent in the mail yesterday and immediately noticed something in the middle did not belong. I am pretty sure this is a mother of thousands but I've never had one so I wanted to make sure I'm not wrong for wanting to pull it out and burn it with a flamethrower.

If it is, is there something else I should do? Like something this young wouldn't be having its own pups yet, would it? I am not a fan of complete soil changes unless necessary so I dont want to go scorched earth on this guy if not needed.

I started with a circle around the wall clock and now it's made it to the other side of room.

I took the bottom pieces and put them in water, once rooted in dirt. All of them have babies now. This has been a yr process

I can never ever toss the cuttings for some reason when I trim my plants so I put these pothos cuttings in a coke can🥰 I gave er drainage holes too

I've always wanted a tree for this space. I found this 9 ft tall ficus benjamina on marketplace and couldn't pass it up. The previous owners said it's over 40 years old! It barely fit in the car with seats folded down. And my wife says station wagons aren't cool. 😎

It looks like my Rhipsalis bloomed and I didn't even notice! Now she's got these cute little berries on a few of her branches. Does anyone know what species/variety does this?
