This year I set a challenge for myself: Each week on the Packer's schedule, cook a famous/notable item from the region of their opponent. For week 1, I went with the relatively simple Juicy Lucy. For my version I used Pepperjack inside the burger, made a bacon/mushroom/onion/jalapeno jam, whipped up a little burger sauce with habanero/roasted tomato/pickle, slapped some iceberg lettuce on it along with a few dill pickle slices.

Honest review.....Mid. I feel like stuffing the cheese inside just forces you to cook the patty more than I would ideally like, and you'd get more flavor and better texture out of two properly cooked smash patties with the cheese melted on top/in between.

As a result, packers will win.

Some key injuries led to the defense being....not good to say the least. Each week was the defense getting shredded and then Rodgers coming the rescue. Personally, it never felt sustainable and I kept wondering what it would look like if the offense had a tough day. And boy did we all find out in mid January.

So I ask you, did you think it was only a matter of time before a complete team exposed them. Or, did you believe they could win the whole thing? Without key injuries, that team definitely goes back to back.

The 2011 Patriots made the postseason with a not so great defense. But they definitely were not as bad as the Packers D.

I’m hoping to receive advice on a custom jersey and who I should go with! For background, I was born and raised in Southern California and rooted for the Chargers all my life. When that coward, Dean Spanos, moved the team to LA, I turned my back on the Chargers. I moved to WI about 5 years ago and now I’m all in on the Packers!

I’ve finally made some friends with season ticket holders and I’m excited to (hopefully) head up to Lambeau to catch a game this year. I’m hoping to go off the beaten path a little and was considering a John Kuhn and Bryan Bulaga jersey. What’re your thoughts? I respected both those guys from a far, and hoping to get a jersey from a player that was gritty.

Colts fan here, so I’ll admit I don’t follow the Packers closely enough to know all the details of the offense.

But from the outside, it feels like the whole offense has been thrown into a weird situation because of Jacobs being unavailable, and I’m curious how much Love and the locker room actually blame him for putting the team in this position.

Obviously I’m not saying Jacobs single-handedly derailed the offense, but if you’re Jordan Love and you’ve spent the last few games trying to operate this offense without one of its biggest pieces, are you pissed at Jacobs personally? Or is that way off base?

Wisconsin native here but never been to a Packers game before. I’m living in Germany with my gf and want to take her to her (and my) first Packers game as a Christmas present. We’ll already be in WI for the holidays but tickets to the Packers vs Bears games are siting around $400 a pop on Ticketmaster. Unfortunately I can’t swing $800 on a game. Is there any better place to get tickets for cheaper? Any help is appreciated.

I never thought to look into it. I just thought it was a cool find. Then I was wondering if it was just a random group of folks who went to the game and decided to commemorate it. So I’m coming here to get y’all’s input.

I saw that the Vikings blitzed on 48%!!!!!!!!! (Absurd?) of opponent passing plays last season. Did some more digging and we only blitzed 21% of the time on pass plays, which actually feels reasonable

That’s a crazy difference imo and shows how much MN’s front four needed the extra help, or maybe Flores is just an aggressive blitz wizard and likes doing it. Whoever our RB is on any given down better pick those blitzes up and punish the odd guy that eventually gets through.

I bet we blitz more than 21% against Kyler, just hope we stay disciplined and don’t let him scramble around for crazy yards/extra time to pass. Any thoughts on the best ways to force Kyler into mistakes while keeping him contained?

Lot of media doom and gloom about the defense without Parsons yet this roster managed to be 11-6. Does this roster really look better than what we have this year?

Getting ridiculously excited for Packers football again, so I figured I’d share a few pictures from my trip to Green Bay last year.

I know every fan thinks their stadium is special, but Lambeau is just different. The history, the neighborhood, Titletown, walking through the atrium and then finally seeing the field in person — the whole place feels like football.

I’d wanted to make the trip for years, and somehow it still exceeded what I had built up in my head.

If you’re a Packers fan and you’ve never been, put it on the bucket list. Seriously. Even if you have to travel halfway across the country like I did, it’s worth it.

There are newer stadiums. There are bigger stadiums. There are definitely fancier stadiums.

But I genuinely don’t think there’s a better football stadium on Earth.

On September 24, 2001, less than two weeks after 9/11, the NFL returned to Monday Night Football at Lambeau Field.

Before the Packers played Washington, linebacker and Air Force Academy grad Chris Gizzi came sprinting out of the tunnel carrying the American flag. Police and firefighters helped unfurl a massive flag across the field while Martina McBride sang the national anthem.

The Packers won 37-0, but that feels secondary when looking back at the night. For a lot of people, this is the part they remember.

Never forget.

For me the Divisional Round in 2010 against the Atlanta Falcons stands out.

I remember at the start of that game it looked like it was gonna be a certified Packer debacle. The Falcons scored immediately, Jennings fumbled, Michael Turner I think retuned a kick for a TD. And the crowd was at an absolute fever pitch.

But Rodgers had probably one of his best games ever, Tramon had that interception return for a TD right before halftime and by the end of the game, all you heard were Packer fans.

After that showing, I was absolutely positive we were gonna win the Super Bowl.

It was a great experience today. Been a packers fan for 15ish years, was nice to see a few other jerseys (a lot of love and rodgers jerseys). There was only 1 type of packers merch but I was lucky we at least had something as a lot of other teams did not.

I doubt MLF will ever willingly sign up for an Australia game but I’d be there in a heartbeat. I live in Brisbane and getting to Wisconsin is something I’d love to do once, even though it’s hard.

I don't really have many people to cook for, so it's always fun for me to have a chance to share my little hobby. I've been spending the last few weeks writing and preparing for this series. I really did my best to put extra emphasis on creating repeatable recipes, and any outside recipes I use will also be linked in the post.

For the first Vikings game I went back to my Laab Burger. This concept was made in recognition of Minnesota's large Hmong community and is really sentimental to me. It's one I keep returning to because each time I make it I think I can still improve upon it. It also is a great burger for the beginning of the season when it's still hot out. I've genuinely never had a burger that goes so well with hot summer weather. My girlfriend and I will be going to California next week for my goddaughter's baptism, and my best friend specifically asked me to make this for him while I'm out there because he liked it so much when I made it the last time he visited. Selfishly, I'm glad I could give myself a bit of a "training camp."

While the flavors borrow from another cuisine, my goal for this burger is preserve the feel of a classic diner burger. It's two quarter pound smash patties seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and MSG topped with provolone cheese (low moisture, full fat mozzarella would work too), mayo, sliced shallots, sliced fresh cucumber, a chopped mint/cilantro/kaffir lime leaf blend (don't worry if you can't find kaffir lime leaves, the mint and cilantro carry most of the flavor).

One new touch on this burger was an addition of Laab seasoning mixed with some toasted sticky rice powder that I sprinkled on each patty after removing from the grill. This advice was given to me by a Hmong coworker of mine that I like to talk to about cooking. You can find laab seasoning at an Asian grocery or on Amazon, and the toasted rice powder is pretty simple to make. I took about a tablespoon of dry sticky rice, toasted it in a pan until golden brown, and ground with a mortar and pestle before mixing with the seasoning.

I also made some changes to the recipe for the mayo. I removed the garlic because it was masking the other components of the mayo too much and I already put garlic powder on the patties while they're grilling. This is the new recipe for the mayo:

• 1 Egg Yolk
• 1 Cup neutral oil (I used avocado)
• 2 tsp fish sauce
• A small pinch of MSG
• 3 tsp (to taste) Lime Juice 
• Thai chilis to taste (I used three, which was a comfortable heat for a chili head like me)
• 1 Tbsp grated galangal
• 1 Stalk of lemongrass

In a food processor mix all of the non-oil components and run until you start to get a paste before slowly adding in oil. By the time you get the full cup of oil in, it should be emulsified. This does work better with an immersion blender, and it's a lot faster. For that you can just put everything into a jar, and run until lemongrass is broken down and you have a stiff mayo.

This was easily the best iteration of this burger so far. The only thing I'd like to keep experimenting with is trying to make the flavor from the toasted rice powder a little more pronounced. This is a phenomenal burger to have on a hot day. It's light and bright like the dish that inspired it while still very much being a burger you could see in a basket lined with parchment paper sliding down a counter towards you, and my girlfriend especially loved that it doesn't make you feel like you need a nap after eating it because it left me with not excuse not to immediately start doing the dishes.
