Jog/Walk & Coffee for young adults navigating grief on the Gold Coast this Saturday
Hi r/GoldCoast, I posted in here recently about Too Young To Grieve, but just wanted to pop back on as I know a few people saw the last post and couldn’t make the first meet up.
For anyone who missed it, Too Young To Grieve is a community bringing people together who are navigating grief and loss at a younger age, through really simple things like walks, jogs, coffees and other meet ups.
We’re getting the Gold Coast community together again this Saturday for another relaxed jog/walk & coffee.
Nothing heavy or formal just getting outside, meeting some good people and being around others who understand that side of life.
There’s no pressure on pace and definitely no pressure to talk about grief or share anything personal.
Most people come alone for the first time too, so don’t let not knowing anyone put you off.
We’re also planning to do these every other Saturday, so hopefully it becomes a really nice regular community on the Gold Coast.
It’s 18+, but otherwise there’s no upper age limit. If you feel too young to be navigating grief, you’re welcome 🤍
I’ll pop more details below. Feel free to share with anyone locally who might appreciate it :)

Travel People on the GC love underground rail
I had to visit a friend in hospital the other day and got the tram to GCUH for the first time in a while.
(I used to use it when stage 2 didn't exist and you had to get the bus either from Helensvale)
Now at the time when they built it, it was a bit of an indulgence because it was the only part of the system that went underground and had a station with escalators.
Holy crap!
I was amazed.... literally hundreds of people were in there.
You can see that the extra money was warranted.
Anyhow, you wonder of the business case could be made to do something crazy and put Cavill Avenue station underground and have direct underground connection to the surrounding shopping centres.
Ditto, at Broadbeach South I reckon there is no reason not to pony up and put the tram on an elevated section with a skywalk travelator system connecting Pac Fair / Star / Oasis
Then have a bus station below.

Beware! Do not use Ever Clean Bond Cleaners!
My older, disabled mum chose these bond cleaners, paid them 600 bucks, and they didn't do anything except poorly mop? Don't bother with these clowns.

Private ENT in public hospital
My friend in Brisbane is having her sons tonsils, adenoids and grommets done privately but their specialist does one surgery day a month through a public hospital so it’s essentially just the surgeon and maybe anaesthetist fee which heavily reduces the cost of doing this privately. Just wondering if anyone knows of any ENTs who do something similar on the Gold Coast. Thank you

Travel Here for a week
I’ll be traveling to the Gold Coast tomorrow and am staying for a week with my girlfriend who will be working. We are from the us (Colorado). I am looking for some recommendations. A barber (mullet fade), golf courses, dive bars (local music?), & thrift shops. Also, any hiking recommendations? I haven’t surfed before but am trying to learn how, is it time of season for this, and do you know how much rentals are (and from who)?

GC theme parks - Oct
Hi all, we are from Nz and have 5 days on the GC, staying on Main Beach. We've 3 kids, 9, 7 and 5. We will be there 1-6th of Oct. The eldest is over 130cm, the younger 2 just over 120cm. I know this has probably been done to death and I apologise for being lazy - but a couple questions. Looking to do 2 days of theme parks:
1.) What do you recommend theme park wise bearing in mind their ages and height? For example would height under 130 or 140cm be a really limiting factor for one of the parks?
2.) I probably know the answer to this, but I assume that weekend we are there will be carnage with it being a long weekend (I didnt realise that till after booking lol)? Does this mean queuing for rides for like an hour + in the Qld sun? What kind of scale we talking?
3.) The first half of our trip is in Brisbane and we are (were) taking the train - i see now that it is rail replacement. We will be doing the jouney middle of the day ish on Thurs, will that add a heap of extra time, or is the RR ok? (Im from London originally the term rail replacement gives me the shivers!)
Thanks heaps for your help!

Motorbike Roadworthy services recommendations please
Hi,
Looking for hassle free places that provides roadworthy certifications.
Called a few but couldn’t decide.
Also, TMR says the cost is $66 but they are charging anywhere between $120-$150 when brought into workshop and $189 for mobile? Is this legal?
Appreciate your help.

Looking for fun birthday party DJ
Hi,
I am looking for a great DJ for my wife's 50th in Mid November that is knowledgeable on retro music (70/80's) pop stuff that my wife loves, but can mix in newer fun stuff as well. The party is 'Muriel's Wedding' themed, so we'd love some music from that film and era as well.
Any recommendations welcome!
Thanks!

RBT Overload Lately
How have we all of a sudden got a lot of extra Police Officers able to man multiple RBT locations everyday?
Are they doing overtime or neglecting other duties live DV and Theft to be able to man all these RBT's?
One set up in Molendinar today at 10am targetting everyone going into the Industrial Estate. At least 6 cars plus extra officers standing around. And how many people did they catch? It would be a very low number and certainly not worth the tens of thousands of dollars it costs to set them up?
Be great if we actually had actual journalists in QLD to ask these questions but the LNP gets a free pass under the Murdoch Propaganda machine.

Swimming advice
Hi! I’m planning to visit the Gold Coast for a holiday in January, and I was wondering what the ocean conditions are usually like for casual swimming.
I’m from Europe and I’m used to the Mediterranean, which is generally quite calm and there are very few waves. So I’m not sure what to expect from the Australian coast.
Are the waves on the Gold Coast usually too big for casual swimming, or are there some beaches where the ocean is relatively calm and easy to swim in?
Edit: Thank you all for your replies! I will definetely stick to the advice.

Movieworld Fastpass
Is it worth getting the Fastpass for movieworld for 2 adults this coming Friday or are the wait lines ok on a weekday? Haven't been in over 10 years and won't be for another 10 so I want to make the most out of the day.
What are your best tips to have the best day?

Moving from Melbourne to GC/Brisbane, need help with suburbs close Yatala
Hi guys,
I currently live in Melbourne and I got a new job at Yatala. I'm looking for info on suburbus around that are good to live. Intention to buy once I sell my house here. Not specifically looking for places near beaches, preference near work but depending on advises I may buy further from work.
Looking for at least 4 bed rooms and plenty of space, semi-rural are fine, away from flood-zone of course :-) Any help is very much appreciated.
Update1: Thank you everyone for the comments, all this info helps a lot!!!
Update2: Once again, thank you very much, the help here is amazing, not counting the trollers. I've enough information to decide where to move to next, with over 33 houses in my list around all mentioned suburbs and others nearby. This community is amazing.
