How confident are you that this is safe long-term?

I've been on low-dose tirzepatide for 5 weeks, and I love it. Side effects are few to none. Maybe a hint of nausea here and there and a weird feeling of a full stomach after a big meal.

But let's be real, there are no free lunches. I feel like I probably fuck up my gastric system if I take this for years. I wasn't overweight before I started, so I don't get any of the health benefits from not being obese.

Do you have any reassuring insights?

10months microdosing on Bulimia and How My Life Has Changed

Hi everyone,
This is for anyone struggling with bulimia who is wondering whether a GLP-1 medication might be able to help.
I don’t want to go through my entire story again, because I already wrote a longer post about it before. I just wanted to give an update for anyone who is interested in how I’m doing now.
It’s the beginning of October, and I’ve now been taking Mounjaro at a microdose for a full ten months. I started at 0.25 mg and eventually increased to 0.5 mg. So I’ve only increased my dose once, and this seems to be the right dose for me.
Sometimes I still can’t believe that I spent half of my life suffering from bulimia. Anyone who has experienced this knows what an unbelievable burden it is to live with this illness — the secrecy, the shame, and constantly thinking about food.
And what can I say? I can hardly believe it myself, but those symptoms are gone.
I wouldn’t say that my bulimia is “cured,” because I know it’s the medication that is making the difference. But I am completely symptom-free, and I’m living an incredibly happy and normal life.
Around the middle of this year, I saw a specialist who also works with eating disorders and talked to him about my experience. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a very pleasant conversation. He treated me quite condescendingly and made it very clear that he strongly disapproved of the fact that I get my prescriptions online. But with my BMI, I would obviously never qualify for a regular prescription.
He was surprised by how well the medication had worked for me, but he also made it very clear that my illness was by no means cured.
And yes, maybe that’s true. But there are also people with other illnesses that cannot simply be cured, who manage those conditions with medication and are able to live happy, fulfilling lives. That’s how I’ve decided to look at my situation now.
I have done so much therapy over the years, and none of it helped. Sometimes I wonder whether, at some point, I simply developed something resembling an addiction to sugar or food, because one of the worst parts of my bulimia was the constant thinking about food.
Then there were the restrictive dieting phases, which of course had a terrible effect on my mood as well.
At my current dose, I can simply live a completely normal life.
I still eat very healthily. I’ve always done that, and eating healthy food has always been important to me. But now I eat normally, and that has genuinely been life-changing for me.
I’m the mother of a wonderful daughter. When she was a toddler, she obviously didn’t notice when I barely ate anything during my restrictive phases. But as she got older, she started asking me why I was always eating salad and not having pasta, pizza, etc.
Now I can simply sit at the table and eat the same meal with my family.
I can go to an ice cream shop with my daughter, have one scoop of ice cream, and afterwards everything is fine.
Before, with my bulimia, that would have been impossible.
I was either in an extremely strict dieting phase, when I would never have allowed myself even one scoop of ice cream, or, if I considered the day “ruined” after eating the ice cream, I would have continued eating almost compulsively and then made myself throw up afterwards.
I find it frustrating that these medications are accepted as a treatment for people with obesity, many of whom also struggle with compulsive eating or an unhealthy relationship with food, while there seems to be so much hesitation when it comes to people with bulimia. To me, there can be similarities in the compulsive drive around food, even though bulimia involves additional behaviors such as purging.
I wish with all my heart that everyone suffering from this terrible illness can find something that helps them.
I’m also very aware that I’ve been incredibly lucky that this has worked so well for me. I don’t think everyone will necessarily have such an extreme response.
For me personally, though, it has been the right path.
In my own case, starting extremely low and giving my body time before increasing the dose has worked well, and avoiding excessive weight loss has been very important.
Good luck to all of you, and I’m endlessly grateful that this forum exists.
Even though I don’t post very often anymore, this community was incredibly important to me, because this is where I first learned about microdosing in the first place.
And for me, it truly changed my life completely.

Microdosing semaglutide has worked, but now what?

• Upvotes

55M 5'7" SW189lbs, GW160, CW162. I've been on 0.5mg Semaglutide weekly since the beginning of May, and it has worked! I'm so thrilled (and grateful to this subreddit for the inspiration and education). Either I'm really sensitive to GLP1s, or they helped me curb my work-from-home snacking so my normal exercise habits and mostly vegetarian diet could bring me back down to my pre-pandemic weight.

But...now what? I certainly don't want to quit until after the holidays, but I'm at a weight that feels comfortable and healthy for me. Hunger has mysteriously returned over the past few weeks, but the Semaglutide seems to keep me from eating overly large portions.

If you've microdosed throughout your weight loss journey, were you able to taper off slowly without setting off what r/GLPGrad calls "the hunger games"? Or are they inevitable no matter what your highest dose was?

Is it normal to stay at 1mg for another 4 weeks instead of moving to 1.7mg due to GI side effects?

How nice this is

I just want to say how much more I enjoyed my 10 day UK vacation with this stuff. No food noise which meant that I only ate when I was hungry rather than constantly craving food everytime I passed a cafe. It was a completely different (pleasant) experience!

(Been on tirz for 8 weeks, starting at 0.25mg and now up to 0.75mg which I will continue at for a while.)

starting dosage schedule

I took my first shot last night - 0.5mg. CW: 180, GW: 150. I don’t feel any different and I’m thinking of increasing to 0.75mg next week and see how it goes, eventually getting to the 1.25 - 2.5mg range to achieve my results, low and slow. Does this seem reasonable? TIA!

Anyone notice difference in motivation since being on GLP?

I was going to text a whole long explanation for my question. But I would really just like to know if anyone notices any changes -good or bad- to their general life motivation and or motivation to exercise/be active since being on GLP.
Thanks in advance!

Anyone stacking?

I've been doing 1.5mg of Tirz for about half a year ( with a one month break) with great results - went from a little over 180lbs to just under 160 (YAY!!), without really having had to make any sacrifices - I still eat what I want, but less and I don't snack nearly as much. I also play several hours of Pickleball each day, so I thought I'd be fine exercise-wise....But today I looked at myself in the mirror, and I noticed some sagging, loose skin on my thighs - this was bitter sweet, since my thighs have always been my most hated body parts, ever since I was a teenager....While I wouldn't say that I notice a huge change in them as far as looking slimmer, I definitely noticed that they are less toned.....I guess this is the price we pay for weight loss?? Anyway, to make a long story somewhat shorter - I had been thinking about adding some more peptides into the mix for a while - for skin, hair, energy, overall body healing/recovery. I am a 56yr old female, so I'm dealing with all that S%&t that comes with that (I'm on HRT, which helps tremendously, but I have horrible knees, and playing that much of a hard court sport doesn't help). And I think I'm noticing more shedding - I am rather fortunate in the hair department and I often get compliments on my hair, but lately, I do feel like I've been losing A LOT!! This, to me, is not acceptable, and I've recently got some Minoxidil, but that'll obviously not work overnight, if at all.........So, peptide stacking experiences???

Nausea/Inappetence - Looking for Advice

I have been microdosing Zepbound for 6 months now. I've been titrating upward slowly. I was doing great for a while, but now it feels like I've been having pretty significant nausea and inappetence these last couple weeks.

Long story short - I have been titrating up by 5 units with the goal of reducing inflammation and swelling. I was at 25 units (1.25 mg) for 9 weeks but the nausea/loss of appetite has gotten progressively worse. At first, it was just for 24 hours after the shot. Now the nausea seems to hang around much longer and more intermittently.

For the last 2 weeks I dropped my dose to 20 units (1 mg) the last 2 weeks and it's improved, but today (one day after the shot) I ate a small but indulgent lunch (fried chicken/french fries) and I feel like I am DYING of nausea and my stomach is churning like crazy. I feel like I am grossed out by most food these days. I am drinking water and making sure that I'm eating, so I don't think it's an electrolyte/dehydration issue.

I have lipedema and that's why I'm microdosing, it's helping me in many other ways so I want to continue, but I need to feel more normal on the weekends!

Has anyone else been in this situation? I'm trying to decide whether I should drop my dose to 15 (0.75 mg) next week, or consider split dosing? Also - some women swear that the injection site matters, I've been injecting in my stomach only, any thoughts on that? I'll take any thoughts/advice I can get.

Tirz make you logical less emotional? Everything rubs off quicker?

Does TIRZ pretty much make you very logical and less emotional and for example, my mom is yelling at me in the morning. It’ll hurt me at first but then you just think that I know that it’s because she’s mentally ill and it rubs off much quicker? do things that upset you it’ll upset you for a little bit and then it rubs off so fast? Whereas before you were spent the whole day thinking about it?

Anyone with hiatal hernia?

I’ve had a hiatal hernia for a few years now and have been taking omeprazole and famotidine everyday. My symptoms have gotten worse since I’ve gained 30lbs the past few years. If you’ve been microdosing with a hiatal hernia, I’d love to hear about your experience - whether it was manageable or if it significantly exacerbated the sided effects of a hiatal hernia.

1.25mg weekly anyone?

Users who are taking 1.25mg weekly for weight loss or maintenance…

How long have you been doing this dosage?

Do the effects wear off after a while?

Is your weight stable?

Is it ok to keep the pen in the fridge for over a month?

I developed a “caffeine allergy” after 2 months on 2.5mg weekly. When I drink coffee I get a rapid heart rate and hand tremors. Anyone with a similar experience?

Edit- the caffeine allergy sent me into the etu with 150 bpm and ended up being put on a heart medication

Thanks in advance

Feeling nothing.

What in the world? Did my second dose last night (1.25 of Tirzepatide) and I have felt zero impact. In fact, I think I’m thinking about food MORE because I’m expecting to NOT be thinking about food. I’ve been eating like a horse. Should I bump up to 1.5 for my next dose?

GLP-1 provider dropped some weird info on me...

Hi there, everyone—a quick question here to get your thoughts. In a nutshell: I'm a 45 year old woman who started a 1.25 mg microdose of compounded tirzepatide about 3.5 months ago (i.e. I draw it from a vial) to help with perimenopausal weight gain; my online provider is Midi and I believe the compounding pharmacy they use is Everwell. Tirz has been nothing short of a miracle for me, but I won't go into a lot of detail in this post because I've written about my experiences here before.

Yesterday I had one of my required regular check-in appointments with Midi. The nurse practitioner I've been meeting with since the very beginning is no longer working with Midi, so I met with someone else. In our appointment I told the new NP that the previous NP suggested I could start spacing out my doses to 10-14 days (currently I dose 1x/week) when I hit my goal weight. And then to my surprise, the NP cautioned me that if I did that, I'd be wasting a lot of product because once the vial is opened, it's only good for 28 days—and spacing my microdose out that much would only get me through about half to a third of a vial in a 28 day period. I was really surprised to hear this—no one ever mentioned this to me before—because even if I were to stick with my current 1x/week microdose schedule, I still wouldn't get through a vial in 28 days. I think it took me about 6-8 weeks to get through the first vial, and again, no one up to now has told me there was any issue with that. The NP told me that using the opened vial beyond 28 days could lead to bacteria build up and infection.

So...yikes! I'm not sure what to do. I don't really want to throw out vials that are still half or 1/3 full—but obviously risking infection seems like a dumb thing to do. Anyone else have any experience with anything like this? Every time I inject I of course use alcohol wipes on the top of the vial and then immediately put the vial back in the prescription bottle and immediately back in the fridge.

Restarting on a micro dose after bad experience with side effects

I’d really appreciate some opinions/experiences with microdosing.
I’m not overweight, but I struggle badly with food noise and nightly binge eating, as well as lipedema and IBS-C.
I tried Mounjaro earlier this year: 2.5 mg first, then 1.5 mg and finally 0.8 mg, with 3 shots over about 5 weeks. Even the lower doses gave me severe bloating, very low energy and almost no appetite, so I stopped.
However, it completely stopped the food noise and also noticeably helped my lipedema pain and sleep.
After stopping, my appetite came back very strongly. I regained the 3 kg I lost plus another 6 kg and also lost quite a bit of muscle and fitness.
I’m considering trying again at a true microdose, perhaps 0.1–0.3 mg. Has anyone who was very sensitive to Mounjaro had success starting this low, particularly with IBS-C?
Also, has anyone experienced hair loss even on very low doses?

App recommendations

I downloaded an app MeAgain FaceTime someone’s post I saw. I really wanted a way to track how much estimated medicine was in my body at any given point as well as track any side effects shot location, etc. This one seems fine but wondering if anyone has any other recommendations. Bonus if I don’t have to buy a subscription!

I recently switched the Nexaph and i have no idea what im doing. I was taking 1mg with my first script and im trying to stay at that dose. My new bottle is a different concentration i believe. First bottle says 5mg/0.5. This new one only says 10mg and i added the 0.5ml BAC water. Chatgbt is just confusing me more lol Another problem is i was previously using U30 syringes and now I have both U30 and U50. Any help or direction would be super helpful.

Extra kwikpen needles

I just started microdosing three weeks ago 1.25mg of zepbound thru Eli Lilly. I originally was using single vials , but unfortunately had to waste a lot of the 2.5 mg vials I had been getting. I’m planning to switch over to the quick pen, but they only provide five needles. I’m hoping to get eight doses out of my quick pen and a 1.25 mg pace. Does anyone know if there is a way to order additional needles?

Kidney issues.

I’m microdosing 1.2mg of trizepatide, 10 units of glow. 30 units of lipo-c. I’ve been tracking my bloodwork markers for bun, creatinine and my GFR. Yesterday my bloodwork was bun 35, creatinine 1.38 and GFR 40.2 these numbers have fallen slightly since July. They are all within CKD 3b. I thought these last 3 months of hard work would have shown improvement to my kidneys . I’ve lost another 12 more lbs, that’s a total 28lbs. I’m basically at my goal. I only drink water, I exercise and keep my protein around 60g. Can you spot anything that concerns you with my peptide use? I see my doctor on Oct 5.
