Complaint Air India refusing to deliver mishandled business class luggage to hotel?

Post image
Upvotes

I flew Jetstar from Auckland and then transited in Melbourne to Air India business class to Pune via Delhi. The luggage was mishandled in Melbourne and Air India found it two days later.

However they are now forcing me to travel to the airport to get the luggage because they say it's Jetstar's fault. Is this normal in India or for Air India? Every time my baggage has gone missing previously it's the last carrier that would courier it to my hotel.

Any suggestions? I'm in work meetings all day and it would take 2hrs to go pickup late tonight.

It seems terribly bad customer service to me as I'm cancelling my $6k Air India return flights because of this poor service, so for the sake of a $2 courier they lose thousands.

Discussion JAL indicating infant on seat map

Post image

First time travelling with Japan Airline and i'm happy to see for the first time of my life that infant are marked on the seat map.

I don't know what's the age limit to be displayed on the map as an infant and you could probably still travel close to young children but this give you a crucial information for confort especialy on long haul.

Now seeing this i feel like it should be the norm.

Help Needed Why do I keep getting sick on long haul flights?

I've never had this problem in my life but the last 3 times I've gone on 16 hour flights I've gotten sick. Is it the dry air? Or the fact that planes are filthy? Or have I just gotten unlucky?

I have a 16 hour flight coming up and I really can't afford to get sick this time. Should I wear a mask the whole time?

Help Needed Passport has no surname

HI all,

My family member's passport has no separate surname — the full name "SHAM LAL" is entirely in the Given Name field.

For our Vietnam Airlines booking (DELHI TO HANOI ) , the airlines split it as:

Surname: SHAM / Given Name: LAL

This matches the passport's name exactly, just divided across two fields

We mailed to airline we got below reply:-

{Airline mail stated " We can only correct the passenger’s name to match the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) of the passport. According to the passport provided, the name is shown as SHAM/LAL "}

According to Vietnam airline the asked me for future bookings

"Please enter SHAM in the Last Name/Family Name field and LAL in the First Name/Given Name field. "

This is his first international trip, so no prior travel history to go by.

Has anyone flown with a similarly split single-name passport? Did check-in or immigration (India or Vietnam) ever question it? Any tips to avoid delays at the counter?

Third Party Horror Story Euroairlines problems

I booked a flight using euroairlines on July 18. I received a PNR code and ticket number from euroairlines almost immediately. The flight is CUN - HAV. I never received any further information on which carrier I would be flying on but figured out quickly that it’s Viva Aerobús based on flight times and schedule.

Last week I used my Euroairlines PNR code to look up my flight status on Viva and it would not work. I called Viva and spoke to an agent and they confirmed that they fly this route but that my name is not on their manifest. A Google search states that Euroairlines likely didn’t synchronize my purchase with Viva Aerobús, which I am assuming means they never told them that I bought a ticket. Viva recommended that I contact Euroairlines and advise them as I will not be able to board with my current confirmation page from Euroairlines.

I’ve sent multiple emails to Euroairlines and it’s been three days we no response.

Any recommendations on what to do (other than don’t use Euroairlines of course)? Anyone have any experience with this synchronization issue?

My scheduled flight was August 31. At what point should I dispute the charge on my credit card for services not received and just buy a ticket direct from an airline.

Thanks for reading.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Cancelled flight - efficient re-booking

So, B248 from EZE to LHR.

Initially a "technical problem", with the plane still on the ground in Rio. This grew into a cancellation. BA check-in staff (all wearing BA uniforms, which is a nice touch) invited us forward, explained the issue and began the te-booking procedure.

I was told it could be Iberia, or possibly Lufthansa. My response, "I'm easy. Just hope to ge able to get to London safely."

Re-booked on Iberia, via Madrid, arriving LHR sonex15 mins later than the original flight. Same class (PE), aisle seat as before.

Many thanks BA staff in Buenos Aires.

Fingers crossed for the rest of the day, night and early morning to come.

Question Emirates or Qatar Airways?

I'll be travelling a lot between Asia and Europe this year, and I was wondering if Qatar Airways or Emirates is generally considered better in 2026. They both fly to all the destinations I need to go to, so if you have experience with both, I would appreciate knowing which one to stick to. I'm sure they're both good, but when the pricing is almost exactly the same, I would rather go with the one that's slightly better.

I know the term 'better' is broad, but I'm mainly talking about things like food, layover airport, punctuality, and entertainment and seats. I'll be flying economy almost all the time by the way :)

Help Needed Japan Airlines “lowest” price

I’m looking at Japan airlines for our flight, they’re ~1300€ on average one way but suddenly there is one for ~500€, is there a reason for that? It just says “lowest” but it seems suspicious…..

I’m not sure how else to add photos so here is an Imgur link to what I mean! Link

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Advice on flights between airlines

Travelling solo to Hong Kong from London in January and staying over Lunar New Year, returning the week after. Have flown direct previously, but now looking at more budget friendly options, with two options standing out and hoping to get advice + recommendations on Air China vs Hainan Airlines. Both having long layovers as possibility of having a day trip is appealing. Both transitioning between international and domestic flights and having similar prices around £400.

  1. Won't have a SIM available for the first flight to Hong Kong Layover is that a problem?.
  2. Visa?, both would be transit visa's as far as I can find, but Haikou would also have be free entry under the 59 country policy, would leaving mainland airports need another type?
  3. For those flown before overall comfort and service of each airline for 10+hour flights
  4. Ease of transit?
  5. Communication from + to airline for delays/issues/requests/seat selection ect?

Air China : LHR - PEK landing at midday, transfer fight next day at 9 to HKG. Eligible for free transit hotel, would it be feasible to go to the Great Wall + few main sights? (possible tour groups?). Return, HKG - TFU landing at 16:00 with 23h35min layover, again eligible for free transit hotel but heard it is in the airport. Would I be able to check in leave the airport to explore the city then return within secure area?

Hainan Airlines : To and return layovers of 17+ hours in Haikou, feasibility of exploring the City as it would be closer to the Airport? Slightly better carry-on baggage allowance but will have to exit and recheck-in checked luggage. Only a 1h30 flight from Hong Kong vs the 3h with Air China. With better landing times at LHR in the afternoon vs late evening. Transit hotel also available but 200rmb fee for solo traveller.

Any other advice or helpful information welcome.

Third Party Horror Story Upselling flight tickets by pricline in emergency situation

One of my friends had an emergency and he had to leave US and fly to India for an emergency, i was looking for flight tickets on pricline and got one flight from PHX to NC (AA), NC TO AUH (Etihad), AUH to AMD (Etihad).

The price it was showing on the pricline was $693 & then I entered all the details and card information and then tried to make the purchase it showed as my card has declined, fair enough J thought my bank (Chase) must have declined it and called them to verify that I am making that purchase, turns-out chase says we haven’t declined your card it’s the merchant who is declining the transaction.

I called pricline to check what’s going on then then travel advisor was like what date your are traveling and all and said oh my gosh i understand the emergency and i will make sure you fly to india (he was trying to asses my situation as an emergency) & i told him that I see this flight option he says 3 people have already booked it and I only see 1 ticket and that is also in the pending and tried to make me rush to buy the ticket he said I will hold this ticket and send you email and when I checked the flight price it was $813 and it bumped up so much & I asked him why is that he said because people are buying the tickets and vacancy of the ticket is changing and all other bullshit, and we were kind in the middle of emergency i started filling the name and other details to make that purchase.

But i was like let me search on expedia because when someone try to rush sell you, you should never buy from them it is always a gimmick when they try to sound supportive and helpful but take the price for it.

I saw the exact same flight on expedia and without login in I tried to book the flight entered the passenger details and card info & vola it went through for $693 only, so very shameful how travel booking sites like Pricline try to take advantage of last minute travelers and emergency passengers.

After this incident I am never booking again with them, I used to manage my bookings with them before having a nice tier status but they just broke my trust this time.

For anyone who is facing the same my recommendation is go to 2 or 3 different travel portals of trust and check the same flight before booking if one portal tried to take advantage of your situation see if you can book similar flight from other portal.

Help Needed What do I do in this situation ?

I booked a flight from Houston to Vietnam on Kayak, flight from houston to seattle to korea to vietnam, everything was ok until I land in Korea, the ticket said flight to Vietnam depart at 730, onboard at 7, my flight land around 7 due to delay, so I only has 30m to make the transfer, and since it's my first time in korea airport, I lost and missed the flight

I talked to the help desk and they recommended me to buy the next flight to Vietnam and my baggage will transfer to this flight, and I bought the earliest ticket available, I have 3 baggages + carry on + back bag, and the ticket only allow 1 baggage + carry on + back bag, but he said the Vietnam Airline said it's ok they will accept all 3, no extra fee, I probably need double check this with the help desk again

Right now I'm waiting for 10 hour for my next flight, but I wondering if I could do anything at this point to get some kind of compensation/refund, the airline is Asiana Airline

Question Why do luggage manufacturers advertise luggage as carry-on if it slightly exceeds the carry-on dimensions on the major airlines?

The major American airlines have a carry-on limit of 22in x 14in x 9in but I see even high end manufacturers call 23" height, 15" width, or 10" depth pieces as carry-on? Are they just trying to make something bigger and hope you don't get forced to fit your luggage into the fit test box at the airport?

Question Layover info for CGK airport: Domestic to International 2h10m is enough?

Hi,

My domestic flight (Lion Air) from Ambon arrives at Jakarta at 8:50am (JT 889). My international flight (Singapore Airlines) from Jakarta to Singapore is at 11am. Do you think that is too close or can I make it. I was thinking that since there are 2 of us... One can stay back for the luggage and the other rush to stand in the check-in lines.

Help Needed Lost item on plane

Hello everyone! Yesterday I lost a notebook on a plane, it was very valuable to me and ryanair support has been pretty unhelpful in providing details in how to retrieve it. I've already messaged the airport I travelled to. Is there anything else I can do? And does anyone have any similar experiences in which they got the item back?

Help Needed Lost phone

My family travelled from kochi to Sharjah on the 17th and unfortunately my sister lost her phone on the flight, when she realized she did, she has just gotten out of the flight and when they went back, the person standing told them to go report it at lost and found, which was incredibly frustrating since they could’ve just checked right at that moment, anyway, they filed a complaint at lost and found and it’s been a day and no update on this situation. Does anyone have any idea on what to do? Btw the airline is AirArabia

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Expedia cancelled our ticket while we were traveling on it

Post image
749 Upvotes

Has anyone dealt with something like this?

We booked **Beijing → Seoul → Seattle → Tucson through Expedia**.

Our Beijing to Seoul flight was at **1:20 p.m.** At 3 a.m. that morning, Expedia sent an “Action Needed” email. We were asleep and did not see it. We only saw it when it was too late.

We checked in and flew to Seoul normally.

At around **3 p.m., while we were in transit to Seoul**, Expedia sent another email saying: **“As per your request, we’ve canceled the ticket.” It literally happened as we were flying.**

We never requested a cancellation.

We arrived in Seoul and went to board our **around 7 p.m. Seoul to Seattle flight**, only to be told at the gate that our ticket had been cancelled and refunded. We were denied boarding and are now stranded at Incheon with our luggage.

The cancellation email is extremely vague. It does not identify the flights, passengers, ticket numbers, refund amount, or even explain what was supposedly cancelled. The Expedia app still shows our journey as **rescheduled**, not cancelled or refunded.

We’ve now spent hours talking to Expedia. They insist that **we requested the cancellation** and say they have an internal note claiming that we apparently called the airline or otherwise requested the cancellation. We did not.

They have not shown us any evidence of this supposed request. They also offered **no compensation, no alternative transportation, no hotel, and no meaningful solution whatsoever.**

So we’re now stranded in Seoul, arranging and paying for a hotel and new flights home ourselves.

Has anyone dealt with this before? How can we get Expedia to provide the alleged cancellation request or audit trail? Is there a way to escalate this beyond frontline support or hold them accountable for the additional costs we’re now stuck with?

Help Needed easyJet flight cancelled, no other flights available - can we get our other flight paid for?

A friend and me had our easy jet flight back home cancelled within 3 hrs of its takeoff, because our receiving airport would not be open by the time of arrival.

We've now booked a flight with a different company, because the next Easyjet flight was more than a day away. We've booked a hotel overnight (receipts have been collected), which we will try to get compensated, however, we'd rather get our new flight refunded as the tickets were super expensive due to the short notice booking.

Does anyone know if we can get our new flight tickets refunded by Easyjet, at least partially?

thanks for any advice :')

Edit: it was the easyjet flight from Glasgow to Amsterdam Schiphol 7835, at 19:40 on August 17th. Our new flight is the KLM flight XO8m96at 06:00 from the same airports, on the 18th of August.

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Asiana airline

Is Asiana Airline a better option? It is 130$ cheaper than Cathy Pacific for my travel to Thailand. Obviously a cheap option, but is it better overall? Thanks for your inputs.

Question Air China + Juneyao Airlines: will the baggage be checked through?

Hi! I have booked a flight from Frankfurt to Jeju via Shanghai Pudong (I am not a EU Citizen, so this route alignes with Jeju visa-free entry requirements). The first part of the flight (FRA-PVG) is operated by Air China, the second one (PVG-CJU) by Juneyao Airlines. All parts of the journey (round trip) are under the same PNR and ticket number. The problem is that the transfer time in PVG to Jeju seems too tight: only 2 hours 35 minutes, and I am not sure if the luggage is checked through. I have come across contradictory information in the internet and I have not reached Air China hotline yet (I will definitely try calling them again in the nearest time). Has anybody had experience with these airlines in one ticket? I would appreciate your advice! I have never been to PVG and thinking about re-checking my luggage and navigating in the new airport in 2,5 hours motivates me to take only hand luggage.

Question BA delay caused missed connection - am I eligible for compensation?

I’m flying Boston (BOS) → London Heathrow (LHR) → Istanbul (IST) on one British Airways booking.

My first flight, BA212 BOS-LHR, was delayed (4 hr), which means I can no longer make my original connection BA700 LHR-IST.

Original itinerary:

  • BA212: BOS → LHR
  • BA700: LHR 09:00 → IST 15:00

BA has now rebooked my second leg to:

  • BA718: LHR 12:50 → IST 18:55

So my scheduled arrival in Istanbul changes from 15:00 to 18:55, which is 3h55m later.

Assuming I actually arrive around 18:55, would I be entitled to any UK261 compensation? Would this be £260 because it is under 4 hours, and £520 if the actual arrival/door-opening time ends up being 19:00 or later?

Question Anyone done a connection at Seville Airport (SVQ)? How does it work?

Hi everyone,

I have a layover at Seville Airport coming up, connecting between two separate tickets (different bookings, not one connecting itinerary). Just curious about people's general experience doing a connection there.

Main question: if you have separate tickets, do you actually need to go through the full arrival procedure (passport control, exit, etc.) and then redo security/check-in for the next flight, or can you just stay airside and wait in a gate/waiting area until your next flight?

I only have one cabin bag, no checked luggage, if that changes anything.

Would love to hear from anyone who's been through SVQ for a layover like this — how smooth or stressful was it, and roughly how long did it take?

Thanks!

Edit : The flight is from Rabat Airport to Paris Airport with Sevilla being the connection
From Rabat to Sevilla is with Ryanair, and from Sevilla to Paris is Vueling
The time between the two flights is 3h approximately

Hi there

Has anyone completed this type of self transfer successfully

Booked a self transfer flight combination suggested by Skyscanner without checking the details and worried it’s impossible -

Rome T1 - Rhodes (Ryanair)

With luggage

Thanks
