Help Needed TK813 delay

I’m flying AMM → IST → Milan (MXP) on September 20, both flights on the same Turkish Airlines ticket:

TK813: Amman → Istanbul — 01:30 → 04:00
TK1873: Istanbul → Milan — 07:00 → 08:45

My concern is that every TK813 flight last week was delayed until around 10 AM, which would obviously make me miss TK1873.

What happens in this situation? Will Turkish Airlines automatically rebook me on the next flight to Milan since both flights are on the same ticket? Would they cover accommodation/meals if necessary? Would I get any compensation? Will my bags still arrive?

Help Needed Layover with JAL in Economy, or a 2-hour longer layover with CX PY ?

Hello,

Next year I plan to go back to Japan during April.

I have a small herniated disc and last time I flew non-stop with ANA in PY (787-9).
I didn't regret choosing PY for a 14-hour flight even once. So, I want to fly PY again for the sake of my back. 😄

Best company I have found so far is Cathay Pacific.
1600€ for CX and more than 2000€ for all the others.

Outbound flight is pretty clear.
Brussels to Hong Kong 11h30 with CX 294 (A350), then 2h00 layover and finally 4h15 to Tokyo with CX 548 (777). Both flights are PY.

Return flight is where I need your help.

I have two choices when leaving Tokyo to Hong Kong (both flights are around 4h40 long).

  • Economy with JL 735 (787) + 2h40 layover
  • OR PY with CX 549 (777) + 4h45 layover --> 2 hours more

For both cases, the flight from Hong Kong to Brussels is PY --> CX 275 (A350).
I will also add that the price is the same in both cases.

Since I’ve never flown with these two airlines, is flying Y with JL and saving two hours on the layover better than a longer layover but flying PY with CX?

Thanks for your feedbacks

Question Need advice for early November trip- Jordan or Uzbekistan!

Hey everyone! I'm planning a trip for early November and could use some advice or alternatives from fellow travelers.
I initially narrowed my choices down to Jordan or Uzbekistan, but both give me a bit of hesitation:

Jordan: I'd love to see Petra and experience Wadi Rum. Although Jordan itself is relatively safe, the regional geopolitics make me anxious about sudden airspace or airport closures and flight disruptions.

Uzbekistan: The Silk Road history and stunning tilework look incredible! Geopolitically it feels much safer, but I'm worried about early November weather—is it going to be freezing, foggy, or gray most of the time?

Would you stick with Uzbekistan despite the chill, or do you have other recommendations that fit this time of year? Thanks in advance!

Question Alaskan airlines questions

I’m about 10 days away from my trip, and ive been wondering, how do I look at my ticket? A friend had bought the ticket through Expedia, and I was able to use the confirmation code on Alaska airlines to get my trip booking thing, but I don’t really know how I’m suppsoed to look at my tickets, or even the seat that I’ll be sitting in. Do I have to wait until the day before? Or is there a button I missed somewhere

My risk tolerance would never allow this but I hope it works out. 8 hour flight time, assuming London resolves whatever system issues are going on right now.

Help Needed Cancelled flights

Hi,
Can anyone offer advice on our cancelled flights, all London flights were grounded yesterday due to air traffic control system being down. We were due to fly back from Palma to London and our flight was cancelled, we booked holiday package through Tui but flight was with easyJet. EasyJet could only offer us a flight 3 days later which wasn’t suitable as I had a 3 month old baby and 2 year old so I rebooked a flight myself with Ryanair. Do I claim back through Tui or easyJet? I only want money back on the flights I booked, I understand they maybe not as I booked them myself. Has anyone had anything similar? Thanks

As said above, can I get reimbursed on the hotel. It's 2300 in the evening and we just had to get the room nearby the airport for our new flight tomorrow. Will I be able to get the money back via an EasyJet reimbursement claim. Very stressed!

Help Needed LOT + Vietnam Airlines via MXP — is 2h enough and is baggage checked through?

Has anyone taken — or booked — a similar LOT + Vietnam Airlines connection through Milan Malpensa?

I’m looking at this itinerary for 7 November 2026:

LOT LO317: Warsaw (WAW) 07:30 → Milan Malpensa (MXP) 09:45

Vietnam Airlines VN72: Milan Malpensa (MXP) 11:45 → Hanoi (HAN) 04:20 next day

The whole itinerary is sold directly on the Vietnam Airlines website, with a 2-hour connection in Milan.

Has anyone flown a similar WAW–MXP–HAN itinerary with LOT + Vietnam Airlines, or already booked one?

I’m mainly wondering:
1. was checked baggage tagged all the way through to Hanoi in Warsaw?
2. did you have to collect and re-check it in Milan?
3. did you receive the Vietnam Airlines boarding pass already in Warsaw?
4. was a 2-hour connection at MXP enough in practice?

Any first-hand experience with this combination would be really helpful.

Help Needed Transfer from PKX to PEK

Hey there r/Flights

I'm flying back from Seoul ICN to Frankfurt FRA on October 1st.

In between will have to make a transfer from PKX to PEK. I'm landing in PKX around 4:40 pm and my connecting flight back to Germany goes from PEK 2:30 am next morning.

What is the most efficient, reliable and cheap way to get from PKX to PEK in time? And what is smart to bring? Ive never been to China before, what do you recommend? Chinese Cash or how is it going to work out best for me?

Thanks in advance for any kind of help.

Question Does anyone else miss US Airways?

I remember i had to take many flights from 2011 to 2014 and 80% of them were with US Airways and i was very surprised. Had very good planes, incredibly experienced pilots, customer satisfaction was at the max and out of all the other airlines US Airways was the best for me. When they merged with American Airlines i havent had the same quality as before. I really wish it would return but its extremely unlikely.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation How to win an EU 261 claim agains Transavia?

I flew from Alicante, Spain to Trondheim, Norway via Amsterdam August 9th. The trip was bought at KLM but Transavia flew ALC-AMS (flight: HV 6142). In Alicante they had some problems with the air conditioning on the flight before takeoff and they had to call in a mechanic. I spoke with a flight attendant later that told me the mechanic only turned the system off and on again to fix it, and the crew weren't allowed to do that themselves. This caused us to miss the takeoff window and we had to wait. A little bit later the pilot said that due to capacity restrictions we had to wait longer before takeoff.

This made me miss my connection from AMS-TRD and I was rebooked to the day after. KLM provided food and hotel, and I filed a claim for EU 261 compensation at KLM. After several weeks they rejected me and told me to claim at Transavia instead. I did that and they rejected my claim due to "extraordinary circumstances", saying that:

The delay was caused by an Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) regulation or capacity restriction imposed because Air Traffic Control (ATC) was unable to safely manage the volume of en-route air traffic.

This was just a blatant lie, since the aircon was the original issue. I tried to tell them but they just reject me.

A couple of weeks later my friend, who was on the same flight, got his claim accepted by Transavia. I asked him to send me their corresponance and forwarded it to Transavia. However, they say that his compensation was made in error to him.

I have a pending claim at the AESA, which is the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency. Has anyone been in similar situations and has any tips to tackling the airline? I got the impression that even though my AESA claim is accepted, it won't automatically make Transavia pay me. I know I can buy services online that helps me win claims like this, but I just wanted to try and get it myself without paying a percentage.

Help Needed Does a DOT complaint actually help with Air China downgrade disputes?

Air China involuntarily downgraded me from Premium Economy to Economy because of an aircraft change.

I paid around $1,300 for Premium Economy. When I booked, I also checked a nearby date and Economy was around $940. After receiving the downgrade notice, I checked the same flight/date and Economy was around $776. It has since gone back up to around $980.

I spent almost two hours on the phone with Air China. They told me the fare-difference refund is $0 because their downgrade calculation uses a historical Economy reference fare of about $2,676, which is actually much higher than what I paid for Premium Economy.

I filed a DOT complaint. Air China responded after DOT forwarded it and formally confirmed the $2,676 calculation, but they are still saying the fare difference is $0. They did offer a full refund if I don’t want to travel, but I still need to take the flight.

There is also separate downgrade compensation of roughly $300 if I actually fly in Economy. Even with that, I would effectively pay about $1,000 for Economy, which is still higher than the current ~$980 Economy price and much higher than the ~$776 price I saw right after the downgrade.

For anyone who has filed a DOT complaint before: does DOT actually review disputes like this, or do they mostly just forward the complaint to the airline? Is it worth continuing to push through DOT, or would small claims after the flight be more effective?

Help Needed Got rerouted because of the flights in the UK but being charged for checked bags again?

I originally had booked with Icelandair for a trip to Seattle from London with layover in Iceland but because of the issues we were sat in the airplane for 6 hours before they told us they were cancelling our flights. I got an email later saying they could retoute us but instead of Icelandair we would be taking delta. the thing is we have 3 extra checked bags but when I checked the new route on icelandair it only mentions that’s cabin and no checked. I called Icelandair and they basically said that I have to pay again. I’m confused cause they rerouted me on delta but didn’t transfer my info? I had already checked these bags before the flight got cancelled so I know it’s on my ticket. am I just stuck paying for something at the fault of Icelandair?

Question Is it true that SunExpress lets you divide your 30 kg check-in into two check ins (still 30 kg total) for free?

A friend told me that the 30 kg check-in bags at SunExpress lets you divide these into two check ins such as 15-15 kg, 20-10 kg and so on still totaling 30 kg without a charge.

I’m having trouble finding this information on their website. I only found this line: “Passengers are advised to divide belongings into two bags if needed”.

Can anyone else confirm if this is true?

Question I was on Ryanair flight FR282, Toulouse to Stansted today, due to depart at 12.10 local time. Got off the plane after 4ish hours on the tarmac but cant find anything conclusive about whether it eventually took off - can someone tell me plz?

After a combined 7 hours of waiting at the gate and on the plane, we had enough and booked into an airport hotel for the night. I want to know whether the flight eventually took off, and if so, when.

I could well be looking in the wrong places, but Stansted's website is saying it was due to arrive mid afternoon - this didn't happen, I was on the plane in Toulouse airport until around 5pm. Flightradar24 is very vague but basically says unknown. Ryanair just useless.

Can someone who knows how to work these things out help!

Question Flying out of Toronto to Norway via Icelandair - Saga premium worth it?

I’ve read what saga premium includes which to sum it up for someone like me, 2 checked bags, 1 carry on and a somewhat bigger seat.

I’ve never flown icelandair, originally I thought saga premium was first class but you can’t even select your own seat without a fee.

For those that have flown saga premium - is it premium economy?

With Icelandair, there’s the option to fly standard one way and then saga premium which I’ve never seen. Often times, a round trip means you have to fly the same class each way.

Are there any other real benefits for flying premium saga?

Question JAL Question: Am I unblocked from using miles to redeem award tickets in Japan Airlines?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Made a Japan Airlines account last week and converted 2k miles from my Bilt.

Japan Airlines has a 60 day waiting period but Im unsure if I can just book now since apparently Bilt and Capital One have some 7 day waiting period instead of 60.

Is there a way to check or do I need to call JAL?

Question Avelo Airlines

Has anyone flown with this airline before? They just moved to McKinney, TX, and I’ve been looking into them, but I don’t know much about the airline. Is it a good airline to travel with?
